...to think that VB actually looks ugly in this pic?

Now I quite like Victoria Beckham. I don't think she's stunning to look at but I have always thought she was quite attractive if you ignore the bones poking through her skin.

But I have seen this picture this morning, and I actually think she looks ugly, almost piggish.

Thoughts?

If you think this thread is bad Sweet... have a look at the Pixie Lott one!!

Aitch · 13/09/2010 16:47

yeah but minx, that's not uncommon. i knew the woman who designed the bulk of marc for marc jacobs, for example, but it was his say what went into the collection. vb is clearly a friend of roland mouret's, which is fine, her dresses do look good.

JessRabbit · 13/09/2010 16:59

Oh another female bashing thread. Why don't you save your vindictiveness for some real villains.

LynetteScavo · 13/09/2010 17:07

She not a model.

Just and ex-pop star and a WAG.

She just has a lot of money to spend on clothes, hair etc, so she is able to look good most of the time. (Wouldn't we all with that much cash)

She must have hundreds if not thousands of photos of her taken ever year. She's not going to look stunning in all of them.

My thoughts are that this a really bitchy OP.

MummyDayAndNightCare · 13/09/2010 17:25

Lynette - Presume you haven't read all the posts but I did post this earlier today -

Sorry all.

Using the word "Ugly" was a bad move

Like I said in an earlier post I didn't mean it that I thought she was ugly (although I know that is how it came across) I was just trying to say that compared to how good I think she normally looks this was almost unrecognisable as her.

Badly worded though. Hands up

OP posts:
piratecat · 13/09/2010 17:31

she looks really tired and drawn. I quite like her, can't think of anything about her that's super amazing or really terrible. I like looking at her, if thats weird, lol loved her short hair or dark 'pob'.

booyhoo · 13/09/2010 17:38

i hate the word ugly. ugly is gremlins and monsters. ugly is someone who is truly a really evil person.

i have noticed my sister commenting alot recently about certain stars being ugly. and i think she sounds really shallow. there is far more to a person than the appearance they inherited and have no control over.we should praise people for what they do well and not criticise them for something that really isn't that important.

VB is not ugly. i have never thought she was super attractive, but who is when they haven't got all the make-up and camera angles flattering them?

she just looks tired and that is no crime.

EricNorthmansmistress · 13/09/2010 17:44

I think she looks better there than normal - more natural.

HalfTermHero · 13/09/2010 18:27

Yanbu. She is as ugly as the day is long.

MoralDefective · 14/09/2010 17:51

Hear, hear to HalfTermHero...she's ugly and i can't stick her...like David Gower said....in an incredulous voice..'Posh'?...what's Posh about her?.

zebra15 · 14/09/2010 19:23

Why do most Mumsnet discussions degenerate into bitchfests where posters hide behind anonymity to shout down anyone who has a different or slightly controversial point of view? It would be really boring if everyone agreed that VB was beautiful and fantastic. Even on more substantive issues/threads, it seems like people are waiting to pounce on any idea that is not PC or representative of a moral consensus. The worst is when the OP is forced to 'apologise' because they had an original thought in the first place.

Conundrumish · 14/09/2010 20:31

She has three young sons, she works and she looks tired - now there's a surprise!

MilMae · 14/09/2010 20:39

I don't think she's a "beauty", but I find her very classy and elegant. I love her dresses.... I'm thin enough to wear them... but no money. shame :(

Snobear4000 · 14/09/2010 20:59

I reckon VB looks fantastic in this pic:

Yummy VB

MollysChambers · 14/09/2010 21:05

Dunno. Looks a bit dumpy to me Wink

HalfTermHero · 14/09/2010 21:42

It has come to me! The pic in the opening post reminds me of The Grinch! Grin

Lampy - Is she a good cook then? Presume that's why she should be in the kitchen although frankly I find that view a little sexist.

Who are these women who have achieved things "on their back"? Do you mean the posters on this thread? What have they achieved??

Lastly, is VB a mner then? Wow. Who knew?
Confused

Cortina · 15/09/2010 01:05

I think she's great, she has faced so much criticism over the years but she keeps on keeping on and seems to have found her niche with clothes. She's obviously a very strong woman.

She was badly bullied as a youngster, as was I. I think this sometimes mean you can 'over play' it a bit in terms of grooming/always trying to look your best. The best revenge is living well. This sometimes gives the impression to others that you are aloof, stuck up or cold. I know I do this, on one level to prove to myself that I look ok (hopefully quite good) and I dress ok and so on. People assume that I am an assured, big headed alpha sort at times or until they know me. They couldn't be further from the truth. I think there is some of this thinking going on with VB.

theressomethingaboutmarie · 15/09/2010 07:59

OP, well I've heard that she thinks you're a stunner....Wink.

Seriously though, why on earth are we judging her? Do we go on about Piers Morgan's looks or say, David Attenborough? No, we don't do we? Women are still 'decorative' before anything else in some people's eyes and it's a bloody disgrace.

backwardpossom · 15/09/2010 08:16

If my husband was David Beckham, I'd be looking shagged out, too - permanently. In fact, how she manages to leave the bedroom at all is a mystery to me! ;)

ginhag · 15/09/2010 08:19

Sorry, I thought I was on mn. Must have picked up 'heat' magazine by mistake....

Are we going to start drawing circles round people's cellulite and pointing out their 'bizarrely wrinkly knees' etc next? Confused

HalfTermHero · 15/09/2010 08:25

Yawn, LL. I can find VB to be fugly if I so wish. For the record I find SJP pretty fugly too. Though she does have a great figure and dresses well. I like her, in fact Smile.

minxofmancunia · 15/09/2010 08:32

cortina you're post is very true, certainly for me too. I was badly bullied from when I can first remember to when I went to 6th form college, that's 13 years of s**t. Some of it about my appearance.

As a result I'm pretty obsessed with my looks, weight and style. I don't spend a lot of cash but I do think carefully about how I look each day, wear make up, try to look stylish, accessorize carefully. if i think i don't look "right" I have a crap day. This is definitely a side effect of the bullying and i can see it in VB.

minxofmancunia · 15/09/2010 08:33

Arggh "your" not "you're" I'm committing my own worst crime!
