I have read a few topics on here over the last week after being shown this site by a friend.

One thing I have noticed that there is a lot of posters having problems with:

Neighbours
In Laws
Cats
Parking
Schools
etc etc

and come on here to talk about it/let off steam BUT not deal with the issue for fear of "upsetting" someone.

As long as your in the right give them a "talking" to, dont be a doormat or you will always get walked on.

As far as i can assertain on this site a troll is someone who posts something the majority dont agree with.

There is now no need for Mumsnet.

AnyFucker · 07/09/2010 13:49

beer...would you like to start

be cross and bolshy with the next RL person you see...

I am guessing the next RL person I see will be the cock at the end of my street, who hangs out and leers at all the schoolgirls walking home from school

I pass him every day on the school run

OP...I need help with not being a doormat here...give me some assertiveness tricks. What should I yell say to him ?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 07/09/2010 13:50

Damn doormat touched my sore spot.
Didnt do anything though, just came on here to moan about it.

I never imagined you with pink cushions AF? Am having Barbara Cartland-esque visions of your interiors now? Wink

AnyFucker · 07/09/2010 13:56

now what would one call a collective of doormats ? < muses >

TanteRose · 07/09/2010 13:58

a bristle of doormats?

OrmRenewed · 07/09/2010 13:59

Oh I'm a doormat and proud!

Well obviously not too proud. No-one likes those who blow their own trumpet

May I be a hall carpet instead?

BTW did you notice my pick and mix of metaphors there? Impressive I thought.

You can be my hall carpet, I don't have one

But if I did, I would like it to be just like you

OrmRenewed · 07/09/2010 14:04

Awww thanks AF. I think that must be the nicest thing anyone has said to me this week

AnyFucker · 07/09/2010 14:06

< gives orm a damn good vaccing >

PerArduaAdNauseum · 07/09/2010 14:19

Ooh ooh ooh - I think I know the troll! Doesn't s/he remind you of the one who came on last year and told us all how much more intelligent s/he was than the rest of us, but in impenetrable text speak? Think s/he might also have lectured on how his/her experience of clomid was more valuable than anyone else's even if it didn't match the expected/usual?

newwave · 07/09/2010 14:23

Per, wrong, for what it is worth I swear that I have NEVER posted on here before today and was hardly aware of the site until a couple of weeks ago.

And I never use txt spk except when sending txts.

PerArduaAdNauseum · 07/09/2010 14:42

So are you a mum or a net?

VinegarTits · 07/09/2010 14:54

So you have only been on here a couple of weeks and you have come to the assumption that we are all doormats Hmm

newwave · 07/09/2010 15:06

Per, I am confused by the nun & net thing, I have two boys.

Vinegar, please dont exagerrate where have I said ALL or even put a name to anyone.

Anyway I am off to the gym as it is cheaper before 6-30, you will however be pleased (or not) to know that I will return to offer my wisdom to the prickly people amongst you. :o

I don't see what the problem is why are so many people being narky to a newcomer, maybe I'm just naive.

Oblomov · 07/09/2010 15:15

oh, so you've only been 'lurking' for the last week. not posting, but 'lurking'.
But you seem to have MN sussed. Funny that. becasue its taken me 6 years, and i still don't have a clue.
