lucky you! Grin

Astronaut79 · 28/08/2010 10:44

Are you taking the piss OP?

gorgeousone · 28/08/2010 10:44

Declare it or get him to stay less or to move out. You will sleep better, and you won't be looking over your shoulder to see if the benefit fraud squad are watching. The honest way is usually the best way; dishonesty has a way of impacting negatively on your life, imho.

MaMoTTaT · 28/08/2010 10:44

and even better - I'm child free for the day - woohoo

tell you what it was fabulous going away for 3 whole weeks with my boys......but bloody hell 4 weeks of summer holiday with no proper time off from them was hard work.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 28/08/2010 10:49

oh..child-free..I am so jealous I might have to kill you! AngryGrin

MaMoTTaT · 28/08/2010 10:49

hehe - well at least it would be one less benefit scrounger to pay for out of your taxes Wink

violethill · 28/08/2010 10:51

OP - they are probably investigating you RIGHT NOW......!!!!
You're a bit dim aren't you?

onlyjoking9329 · 28/08/2010 10:54

You have to ask if this is wrong?
It angers me when people do this,I'm struggling to get DLA for my DD whilst people like you just take what's not yours.

borderslass · 28/08/2010 10:55

SIL was done for benefit fraud she had to pay it all back was very pleased about it as she was going around flashing the cash whilst claiming benefits, everyone I met asked where all her money was coming from.

emmyloulou · 28/08/2010 11:47

Op you are a bit stupid aren't you.

You do know that CTC are now linked to experian records? They have been since renewal.

Also renewals are becoming stricter, they want to phase this in for all soon, but some got it this year, they were asked for bills etc to prove to CTC they were single, after the PAYE systems showed other employed people living at that address, and experian showed up financial links.

You'll get caught, and as you are knowingly doing it, one can hope for a prison sentence or at least a criminal record for you both, that will screw any future job prospects, so people here need panic not.

emmyloulou · 28/08/2010 11:56

Oh and the 3 night thing - total urban myth.

Nights spent at a house are considered but it's not the final bench mark, lots of other things are considered such as,

Is he supporting another house to which he is registered.

What address does his employer supply to PAYE.

Does he have post going to that address.

Does he have any finacial links to that address, bills/insurance/credit checks/electoral roll.

Does he pay towards the house.

How much does he stay over, does he sleep in the same room, do they do things as a family, do they appear to the outside world to be a family unit.

Etc, etc, etc.

Giddyup · 28/08/2010 12:27

Ah I see, that makes sense... We asked SIL, but she knew our situation; that DP had own flat and all post etc was going there. We merely wanted to know how often he could stay over without it causing any problems for us.

cumfy · 28/08/2010 12:28

Just playing devil's advocate...

Which would be the larger financial burden on the state:

  1. Fraudulent claim as proposed by OP. 1 property occupied.
  1. Have seperate abodes. With OH presumably getting WTC and HB. OP still gets her benefits too. And 2 properties are occupied.

May be no competition in the "moral conundrum" stakes, but there may be interesting financial repercussions.

"Moral hazard" IIRC.

huffythethreadslayer · 28/08/2010 12:35

I think I hear the trip trap of a troll. Or the thud thud of an empty brain suddenly being assaulted by common sense. But I suspect it's the trip trap noise.

Maylee · 28/08/2010 12:45

I think it's a troll to.

But, just to mark my position - IF this is true then the OP is VVVVVVVV unreasonable. I'm a single parent, work full time and the only allowance I get is child benefit, childcare vouchers from my employer and single persons CT discount.

I therefore pay my mortgage, all household bills, run a car, etc on one wage (with a nominal contribution from ExH). I pay a lot of tax because I have worked hard enough to be promoted and earn a decent wage.

I do not want to subsidise criminals thank you very much (and OP is a criminal if she is claiming as a single parent and hasn't declared that her partner is living with her). So either declare it or kick the man out. Why the fuck should hard working people like me pay for you?

Agghhhh......I hate it when society veers me to the right.....

*Disclaimer - I have no problem supporting those who genuinley need it. I believe in redistribution of weath and a fair welfare state......

expatinscotland · 28/08/2010 12:49

funny that. the op hasn't come back.

trip trap.

Maylee · 28/08/2010 12:51

She posted on another post though - the CBeebies one I think

Alambil · 28/08/2010 12:58

cumfy, there won't be two houses sooner or later; she'll be inside, her kids will go in care and the partner will go back to being single ...

cumfy · 28/08/2010 13:01

Lewisfan, I'm not sure I understand; are you saying there is something unlawful re Scenario 2 ?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 28/08/2010 13:10

cumfy - maybe he isn't entitled to any WTC or anything else?

Glitterknickaz · 28/08/2010 13:13

This may well be a trip trap thread but there are too many people out there who actually do this.

It is these people who give genuine benefits claimants a bad name. People like this make my life difficult.

It's these people and the tax evaders out there that need targetting first rather than the vulnerable.

cumfy · 28/08/2010 13:20

Ali40,

Perhaps, but OP's comment that they genuinely cannot afford the rent, suggests he would be entitled HB+WTC with HB>>WTC.

In social terms, it is the fact that 2 properties are occupied which is the greatest state burden really.

emmyloulou · 28/08/2010 13:27

Not necessarily HB are really strict he wouldn't as a single man be allowed to rent more than a bedsit and only get wtc if he is over 25. Then it's not much.
