DS has had runny nose (clear not green) for a few days, today very red eyes along bottom lid and black eyes under and eyelids.

This is his usual hayfever symptoms - is it too early??

I didn't know about DD2 - sorry. I hope she's on the mend again. Is it the pollen setting off her asthma??

Oh and I did't know your other news either. Congratulations. Grin

daisiedoo my symptoms are very very similar to yours, I get nasty earache too although mostly it is a dull fuzzyness in the ears, I always took it to be because the sinuses and eustation (sp) tubes were blocked, the pressure in the ears is affected. Am going to try some of whatever antihisthamine we have in the cupboard for DH and see if it does the job.

Pixieonaleaf, I know I don't 'know' you but I hope your DD is okay and will be home soon

cheekeymonkey · 10/03/2011 00:29

Ahhh! That's what it is? Bet we are an attactive bunch of people right now? Smile

mumbar · 10/03/2011 07:03

My DS has become very whispering when speaking. Its like he's got something in his URT that he can't shift. Says hes not unwell so guess thats the Hayfever too. Oh we could have a quiet summer. Grin

I've woke up today feeling so sick, my ears hurt my heads fuzzy an I've got real bad post nasal drip, I feel like crawling back in bed, today is so windy like yesterday, must be blowing this damn pollen round more than usual. I hate days like this when u feel like u can't function .

daisiedoo · 11/03/2011 13:31

Well been docs today, doc said to early for hay fever an I've got sinusitis again, more antibiotics, only time will tell after I finish my meds if it's really hay fever or sinusitis .

BeckleinDisguise · 11/03/2011 15:42

I wonder if the sinusitus could be caused by irritation by the pollen?

thefirstMrsDeVere · 11/03/2011 15:50

I dont get hay fever but I have bloody well got sinusitis. Havent had it for years and years.

Its horrid.

daisiedoo · 11/03/2011 15:53

That's what am thinking also becleindisquise, I had severe earache yesterday , an still got it now, not as severe, doc said my ears are clear , am confused by it all I definitely think there's a connection.

BeckleinDisguise · 11/03/2011 15:56

My ears ache too daisiedoo, they always do when my sinuses are sore. My eyeballs hurt too Confused

thinkingaboutschools · 12/03/2011 19:51

Daisydoo - yes it is non-drowsy.

thinkingaboutschools · 12/03/2011 19:53

Daisydoo - what your doctor said isn't correct. Look at the Zirtek website - I think they have a pollen calendar. Basically - depending on what you are allergic to you can get it any time of year!

daisiedoo · 14/03/2011 12:01

I believe it is the pollen also, I looked at the zirtek site an tree pollens can also be released even in January, I don't think I have sinusitis myself I've been on antibiotics since Friday and I've still got all the same symptoms, I haven't got discolored nasal mucus either it's more white an clear, I've got a permanent foggy head and my nose feels so inflamed, thank you to all of u who have replied to my posts x

bettybaxter · 18/03/2011 14:16

my daughter's started already, itchy eyes, runny nose, dry throat, seems lot earlier than last year. We tried all sorts, doctor suggested pollen barrier balm, it might work for dust too.

AtYourCervix · 19/03/2011 10:54

Greetings all itchy ones. Here I am with itchy streaming eyes. Oh joy - Hayfever season is upon me.

Been taking fexofenadine for about a month (as work also makes me itch)but tried it last year for the old hayfever and it was rubbish so i suspect i'll be trotting back to the docs in a few days.

daisiedoo · 19/03/2011 13:21

Oh it's definitely hitting us all bad, I feel so crappy today my eyes are burning an itchy , my head feels like I've been drinking an I haven't, my ears are bungee up, piriton isn't even taking the edge of it today. An not to mention they upset my stomach, I've noticed also that the zirtek site still haven't released there pollen report even though it was supposed to start on the 17th march.

daisiedoo · 15/04/2011 14:27

Oh the pollen is in full swing the past week, I feel so bad, antihistamines only taking edge of it, I can cope with the itchy eyes an sneezing but my ears are so bad there making me dizzy, an my throat is so sore an tickle, any remedies to get rid of the dizzy foggy head, I just want to crawl back into bed :(

heliumballoons · 16/04/2011 09:24

thats exactly how I feel atm daisydoo. I'm thinking hayfever too. Hasn't been too bad the last 2 days when its rained though so fingers crossed.

daisiedoo · 16/04/2011 11:57

It's horrible isn't it heliumballons, I feel worse today, an the pollen forecast is only medium today here in northwest, it going to be high from tomorrow I dread it, I've even developed hissing in my ears so annoying .

theoldbrigade · 16/04/2011 12:12

Have not read every post far too lazy but local honey really does help. Or as local as you can find.
My son suffered very badly when younger and honey and acupuncture worked a treat. Bit late for acupuncture but certainly not honey !

daisiedoo · 16/04/2011 14:43

I'm actually having honey at the moment theoldbrigade, it's not local honey as I can't seem to get out to find some, hope normal honey helps, did your son suffer with the foggy dizzy head an ear problems also.

theoldbrigade · 16/04/2011 15:18

Sorry to be horrible daisiedoo but it does have to be local honey. Any old honey will not help at all.

Son suffered hugely, all the symptons you describe plus. At 25 he now books in for acupuncture in late January and eats a tblsp. of local honey in any which way daily from there on until June. If he happens to visit when I have just mowed the lawn he may sneeze a couple of times and that's about it.

Realise this is little comfort to you now but may be worth a try next year?
