I like the 100 days alcohol free challenge. I think...

CoronaIsWatching · 22/01/2021 17:08

Day 22 for me, on the Becks Blue. I think this is the first Friday where I've really wanted alcohol. But oh well I shall carry on plodding on. Once this weekend is over there's just a week left

Haggisfish · 22/01/2021 17:18

I’m still onboard, astonishingly. I’m frustrated that I still want alcohol yet am enjoying life without it.

Rolo1324 · 22/01/2021 17:19

Hi all been reading posts and I'd like to be part of a moderator group. The openness and honesty on here is humbling inspiring and enabling as many things said are me and how I feel 🥺🥺so not to be alone is so positive!
Had a very poorly week and on antibiotics for tonsillitis so that killed my wine witch tonight (Fridays always my weakness!)
😀😀

ApolloandDaphne · 22/01/2021 17:23

I have bought a bottle of M&S AF Merlot. I am interested to see if it tastes like wine or like posh ribena. I have some other AF things if it tastes rank. I am enjoying the Warners Juniper Double Dry distilled botanical with elderflower tonic. It is both very dry and very tart which I like.

BlueSussex · 22/01/2021 18:20

My plan is to do 100 days AF and then to only drink at home if I have company (I live alone so that's very unlikely for a good while!)

Aside from that I plan to drink only if out and about with my friends or on holiday. This will dramatically reduce my intake.

Gottaloveacardie · 22/01/2021 19:09

I have been knocked sideways by wine cravings this evening, which has taken me by surprise because the last week I have found it quite easy. I am also thinking about the 100 days challenge - if I can manage it - as I think I need a longer reset before I can manage drinking in moderation.

PeacheyPeach · 22/01/2021 20:05

Hi all x im the same as a lot of you , I'm wanting to carry on into Feb and March. And then just stick to having drink when I'm with friends or out for a nice meal etc( if i actually want to, not just because I think I have to!) But really like the idea of keeping AF for the 100 day challenge!.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 22/01/2021 20:10

Hi all. I was thinking along the same lines moving forwards. I'm going to try DP's plan for one bottle of wine each a week but if it starts creeping up I'll be thinking of going AF.

I thought we could just keep on as we're going here, but no sort of 'bragging' about having a glass of wine/gin/whatever? Does that sound doable?

I'm so pleased to have 'met' you all on here. And I think spending any time AF during these crazy times is nothing short of a bloody miracle! So well done all of us...including any who have fallen off the wagon!

And I like the idea of 100 AF days - gives me something else to aim for without being 'forever' That takes us to April 10th according to Google.

Ooh @ApolloandDaphne how is the red? I've not found a decent AF red yet!

OhioOhioOhio · 22/01/2021 21:09

I'm in for the 100 days. I have the same feeling. It's a decent commitment without having to say I'm af forever. I don't want that.

PeacheyPeach · 22/01/2021 21:24

😁 I'm glad that it's going to keep going. It's been great coming on and waffling on! I don't want to become an AF evangelist to my family and friends so it's been lovely having a space I can come and just say it all !! ( sorry to you all who have to scroll past my long speeches!!)

TSBelliot · 22/01/2021 22:04

Hmmm not up for 100days (30 still seems a bug too long) but I want somewhere I can tally and be mindfully moderate. Can we exist together or better in separate spaces?

It is a miracle any of us have mainly managed it.

OhioOhioOhio · 22/01/2021 22:05

I think together is okay. No?

Els1e · 23/01/2021 07:46

I would like to keep going with this thread. I think I would have caved without it. I’ve been pondering on new AF targets. One I though of is not to drink until I’ve had covid vac, which for me is probably between April to July ish. Which sort of fits with the 100 day challenge. Or to do a year where out of the 365 days, I have 300 AF days. 65 sounds loads but given I was struggling to do an AF day each week, could still be a challenge. Like others I really want to get a good grip on moderation.

SnoopyMcLoopy · 23/01/2021 08:55

Hello everyone 👋🏻 I've been lurking in fact I think I might have even been on the earlier thread. I only started DJ on 11th Jan but plan to go at least until 12th Feb. Very interested in continuing though so I would definitely stick around on a feb thread 😀

Well done everyone on getting this far 👏👏👏

OhioOhioOhio · 23/01/2021 09:04

I don't think I could have managed without this thread either.

SantaMonicaPier · 23/01/2021 09:19

Ghast, thank you so much for starting these threads. I wouldn't have made it this far without everyone's support. I don't understand how as I was not drinking in excess of 20 units a week which I don't think is massively excessive, but I have been more motivated and content than I can remember. In January. In lockdown. With a lot going on personally also. I'm not sure what I will do after January but feel grateful that I am in control of that choice.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 23/01/2021 10:13

Aw shucks you'll make me blush! I'm glad I started this and feel privileged to have been part of your journeys. Happy to continue with moderators after January and see how I get on.

Does anyone else think that their resisting face doesn't look so sad?

TSBelliot · 23/01/2021 10:35

It’s a job well done Ghast. It wounding have been a pregnancy when I was last this dry.

SantaMonicaPier · 23/01/2021 11:04

Yes, 100%. I've compared various photos. Something else I can't understand!

That was reply to Ohio! The reply option isn't working on my phone
OhioOhioOhio · 23/01/2021 11:32

Thanks pp. None of the reply options work on my phone either. The face thing is so bizarre. Weirdly I also think my face is at least one third smaller.
