@TeaRose29 you may find that your watch all ready has that built in. I recently got the new Samsung Watch 3 and it did. I think I may have to send it back though, as I seem to have an allergy to it 😬

SoberCurious78 · 20/01/2021 15:59

@Haybo26 I’m just hoping it’s my body resetting or something and then I suddenly get a few pounds off. Guess slow weight loss is better

CoronaIsWatching · 20/01/2021 17:09

Day 20 - Had a vile day at work so I'm on the nosecco

Gottaloveacardie · 20/01/2021 18:01

I'm also 43 and perimenopausal and also have not lost even an ounce! I feel more energetic though and also very proud of myself for sticking with it so far. I am starting to wonder what to do after January is over though. I fear going rapidly back to square 1.

TeaRose29 · 20/01/2021 18:16

I got to my GW a few years ago using the Dukan diet, and I just revert to that whenever I need to get a few pounds off. It's basically just protein + veggies. It's brutal but it works (for me, anyway).

There are a couple of really good Dukan threads on MN, dating back to 2010/2011.

TeaRose29 · 20/01/2021 18:26

If anyone has some time on their hands (pun intended), I've just treated myself to a home gel nail kit. It arrived today and I've just used it while watching President Biden's inauguration Grin and I'm super-pleased with the results. It's eco-friendly/green and apparently easy to remove (which is the thing I really hate about gel nail polish). It's called Green Flash, and India Knight in the Sunday Times gave it a fantastic review a couple of weeks ago. Meant to last for 10 days so let's see! Grin.

FoxandFeathers · 20/01/2021 19:28

@TeaRose29 I ordered the exact same one, for the same reason and have been chasing them as it says it isn’t even dispatched yet. They said it is delayed due to. Brexit! I’m glad you got yours as was worrying they had gone bust.
Will distract me from the scales not budging despite my 11k calories I have saved according to the app!

goldpendant · 20/01/2021 19:33

I second Dukan for a quick blitz. I find two solid weeks on that sees off a good bit of flab. I might try it in Feb if our holiday to France looks like it's going ahead in AprilConfused

I'm twitching tonight though. Interestingly for the taste of it rather than for any habitual/'relaxing' effects though, which I'm taking as a good sign.

CoronaIsWatching · 20/01/2021 19:43

I'm loving this nosecco, added a drop of tonic water like pp said and it's almost like drinking the real thing. I think it's tied with Becks Blue for me now.

flygirl767 · 20/01/2021 20:23

I'm on the McGuigan Zero tonight, it is really rather nice! Very wine like, I am on my second glass. Would recommend this

Amdone123 · 20/01/2021 20:33

Thanks @flygirl767, I will try that.

PeacheyPeach · 20/01/2021 20:56

Ooo I like the sound of the dukan diet. I've been doing the 16:8 for past couple of weeks and i can't see any difference! Have you got any tips and hints!

Hohofortherobbers · 20/01/2021 22:39

@Flygirl, is that red or white mcguigan zero? I'd love a good fake red

showmethegin · 20/01/2021 23:21

I feel like I deserve a bloody medal for not popping the champers tonight watching the inauguration! I have a bottle of Lauren Perrier and bottles of rum, gin, baileys and amaretto on our booze shelf from Christmas and cannot believe I haven't raided it yet! Had a Nosecco and tonic instead.

Is anyone else a bit nervous for their first drink when this is over? Really don't want to go back to having to finish a bottle of wine every time I open one but neither do I want to give it up. Just want to be able drink in moderation.

showmethegin · 20/01/2021 23:21

*Laurent

PeacheyPeach · 20/01/2021 23:31

Day 20 woohoo!! I've had a rubbish day home schooling but I have had no desire to have a drink which I think is a good sign!!

showmethegin · 21/01/2021 06:14

Well done @PeacheyPeach well done! I have ultimate respect for everyone home schooling at the moment!!

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 21/01/2021 06:50

Day 20 for me today. It feels really good - cravings are pretty much gone now - just wish I was reaping the benefits like some of you!

I'm not sure about life after DJ. DP wants us to stick to a bottle of wine each a week. Part of me wants to do that but part of me really likes my AF streak and doesn't want to ruin that. But I don't want to never drink champagne again (god I sound pretentious!!) I'm thinking I'll allow myself that bottle per week but if it starts creeping up again then I'll know moderation isn't for me and stop altogether (though not telling myself it's forever).

How's everyone else doing? Sorry I've kind of disappeared - am trying to juggle a few too many things at the moment. But I do think of you all often!

I’m still here, just about hanging on to the wagon. Wish I could say I don’t think about drinking but I do. I have to keep reminding myself to love my liver and treat it well. Not sure if I’m going to be any good at drinking in moderation. Beginning to think it might need to be Teetotal or nothing

CoronaIsWatching · 21/01/2021 08:12

Day 21 for me, just 10 days left. Going to start counting down instead up of up now

supercee · 21/01/2021 08:26

Has anyone tried the Slim wines? They are available in Tesco apparently and have zero sugar (I'm low carbing). They are lower in alcohol too and the reviews are decent. An option for those of us trying to get a grip on moderation maybe?

ApolloandDaphne · 21/01/2021 09:24

Because the 1st Feb is a Monday we have decided to wait until the weekend of the 6/7th before deciding whether to have a drink or not. I am rather enjoying how I feel not drinking.

Amdone123 · 21/01/2021 10:03

@ApolloandDaphne, that's a good idea. I might try that, too so thanks.
I'm not thinking that as soon as 31st January arrives, I'm going to drink. I was hoping to take it further. I wish I enjoyed wines that are 9% ish volume. That way I won't suffer with hangover etc. I think I'll try them. At least then I'm not missing out (even typing that sounds ridiculous. Missing out on what ?! ). My brain clearly needs retraining. I have to look at what I am gaining by not drinking ( so much), and not the missing out bit.
Day 20 and feeling good.

flygirl767 · 21/01/2021 11:49

Sorry meant to put it is the Shiraz.

Humphriescushion · 21/01/2021 14:44

Day 21, and going ok. Woke up this morning feeling quite hungover - felt horrible but was so nice to know i just felt horrible and it was not because of drink! Felt ok once i came round and had some coffee. Am starting to think about the end. Going to try and not drink for a while longer in February then going to go back to only drinking friday and saturday and having one weekend off a month. I may even to a bit further. I am going to try and think about whether i really do want a drink or not. Is is habit, friday night, weekend etc, stress, boredom and reprogramme habits.
Hope everyone doing ok?
