@Waterandlemonjuice you are doing really well going af for the whole month . I'm seriously considering doing dry January , one time I wouldn't of even considered it but after the last few days I think I'd give it a go .
Anyway just got home from work usually I pour myself a wine but ive decided not to yet . if I feel like one after bath & bed of dc then I will have 1 of 2 but I'll wait till then if I start too early I'll easily drink a whole bottle .

Good luck water, nc4 and badger!

Dh had an appointment with a *fatigue nutritionist" today who recommends he tries a ketosis diet, which would involve no sugar, v limited carbs and very little drinking. Hardcore, but in a different way to his current diet so would be a change at least. She recommends starting in January. So i guess i might be doing dry Jan again, sigh. Still, if it does make a difference it'd be worth it.

Off to fireworks soon. Is a bit rainy though. Went to bff's after school but her boys were not on top form. At least it is not just mine.

Evening everyone,
Hope everyone is okay and had a good day!, kids are fed, bathed and in pjs.
There are all on their tablets to give me some peace. Really struggling tonight would love to go get a bottle of wine, but I'm not going to as I will have just ruined all my hard work. So I'm knitting and considering ordering a curry when they are all in bed.
I've attached some pictures of the hairbows I've done over the last few night's.

Hello all

Mad busy day here, been battling flooded routes, sorting out cars and saddle fitters and soggy chickens etc. All ok, house safe and kids were at school. Been absolute chaos around here (Rotherham if you watching news). Now on wine so all is good.

Frouby, sounds scary, I’m glad you're all ok

Badgerblu, lovely bows, well done on AF

longest, the BSD is low carb, no sugar, no booze, Mediterranean really but less of it

I resisted, there’s no wine in the house anyway. Now under a cat about to watch tv with dd

MadameF · 08/11/2019 20:52

Frouby so glad you are ok the news has been horrendous from your part of the country.
Water NC4 Badger and wine Im in awe.
I don't think I've ever managed more than 4days AF.
Not AF tonight, Friday night is my favorite night for drinking and Im up earli seg at 7am to run with friends so that should burn off some of the poison. Just need to sleep well.
Bank holiday weekend here, Monday 11 is yet another day off doa long weekend.

longestlurkerever · 08/11/2019 21:12

Evening! Wow i am in awe too of how well everyone is doing. Not here, had 2 cups pf mulled wine at fireworks and now on normal wine. Fireworks was fun though. Supposed to be fundraising for school but have no idea how they make any money as was only a fiver and kids are free and they must have let of at least a grand's worth of fireworks. Could actually have done with fewer- i could barely breathe by the end and am totally sodden. Still, nothing compared to Frouby's district- looked awful. My Sheffield cousin is visiting my dsis at the moment but think her neck of the woods is ok, though they are in Rotherham a lot for sailing.

NC4Now · 08/11/2019 21:48

I'm holding up here too, after a wobble earlier. It was sheer lack of imagination really, not knowing how to do a Friday night AF.
I've tidied up a fair bit (still so much to do), cooked myself steak and chips with posh ginger beer, and watched Corrie.
I can't decide if I'm tired or if I've got a film left in me.
Was chatting about books with the boys dad earlier. (He's not XH for newcomers). It's something we've always had in common, as well as a love of red wine. I got thinking how I hardly read these days, and if I spent less time drinking or low level hungover I probably would.

Frouby glad you are relatively dry and not stranded in Meadowhell.

Love to all the other tryers, dry or otherwise...

Waterandlemonjuice · 08/11/2019 22:53

🌟 for NC4 and all of us AF tonight!

NC4, I read more when I'm not drinking too, I have a pile of books to read so may start one or two tomorrow. What are you going to read? I have the Debbie Harry and Elton John biogs and various other stuff including some crappy novels from the charity shop.

About to do day 4 of being less anxious thing from Calm and then will sleep. Night everyone.

NC4Now · 08/11/2019 23:43

And are you feeling less anxious water? I am.
I have to say, this little guy (and his elusive big brother) make staying home alone more appealing.

Waterandlemonjuice · 09/11/2019 07:07

Morning NC4! Yes, I am less anxious and less worried about my health the longer I don’t drink. Funny, that!

Day 6 AF here, had 8 hours sleep and this is the first Saturday for ages I haven’t had a vague or full on hangover. Planning a walk, some reading and a film with dh later. Dd has a friend here tonight so we’ll be left to it.

Waterandlemonjuice · 09/11/2019 07:07

LOVE your cat! He’s very pretty!

NC4Now · 09/11/2019 13:44

Thanks Water. Here's a rare sighting of the two of them together. I do love them very much ❤️

I've just stumbled upon my first saboteur. My brother. He invited me for tea in two weeks time. I said that would be lovely and a bit later mentioned I was doing a sober November. He looked panicked and suggested I have a 'holiday' that day. I'm not going to. It kind of defeats the object, and if I have one holiday it will be every weekend. I'm not sure why he's bothered whether I drink or not. Weird Confused

NC4Now · 09/11/2019 13:45

Oops, forgot to post the pic of the cattens!

Waterandlemonjuice · 09/11/2019 14:00

Oh they are lovely NC4! I might think about another kitty next year, Ido so love them.

Well done on saying no to your brother. There’s no reason to drink just because he says so. Is he a heavy drinker? I have absolutely no social plans in November except the 30th, when I may drink, I’ll see how I feel nearer the time. I’d like to get to 1st December and do 2 more weeks AF before Christmas. But that’s all very ahead of myself, given that today is only day 6!

I’ve been thinking about self care this morning. I have tried harder to look after myself in other ways this week: plenty of sleep, body lotion, using the Calm 7 days of anxiety...it’s all helping.

Frouby · 09/11/2019 15:57

Afternoon all

Enjoying a beer with dh watching football. We have been dry on Saturday for weeks, but he's really stressed with work (payment issues) so I suggested a few beers as waa sick of looking at his mardy face 😂😂.

Just been for a walk with ds and the dog, it's very cold here, already going dark and damp without raining. Properly autumn.

Ds didn't want to go kayaking this afternoon, he's tired from school and only actually got dressed to come for a walk, he's spent most of the day loafing around in his pants either making lego creations or on some kind of screen. I really don't care, we do lots and lots lots of stuff usually, a day pleasing himself and dossing is lovely sometimes. Have also been to M and S this morning and stocked up on loads of snacky stuff, 2 meal deals (plus wine 🙈) and nice buns and stuff. Love this time of year when we all just doss.

We may have your rain Frouby, i an decidedly soggy after waiting for the bus home from a party with dd2. I went swimming in the lido anyway, figured i wouldn't notice the rain there! Annoyingly it closed when i had 0.1 miles to go to complete my channel challenge, but i have an excuse to go back tomorrow now. Also did the park run for the first time in ages so feeling very smug.

Dd1 has had a lazy day though - was still in her pjs after midday and has been making lego with dh while dd2 and i were out. They have a yhree day weekend due to an inset day so might think of something to do on Monday

MadameF · 09/11/2019 18:36

Nc4 Water glad you ate enjoying your pampering. The cattens are si cute!

Frouby Enjoy the rest of your doss day with your family.
Longest I didn't know you ran! Congrats on doing the Park Run. They are such a good idea, sadly we don't have them in France. And sorry you didn't quite make the channel this afternoon! Next time. I didn't make the swimming pool this afternoon at all. Ran 17km of trail this morning at over 10km an hour, some of it on footpaths which we were knee deep in freezing water. I was so wet at the end I couldn't face the pool later.
We are out tonight at joint birthday and wedding anniversary of friends. It will be a late night! I'd rather be at home in front of the wood burner as it is pouring with rain and cold 😕

longestlurkerever · 09/11/2019 19:07

I barely do Madame - i am so unfit thatci haven't been able to face it for ages but i have lost a bit of weight and improved my general fitness with all the swimming and a bot of cycling so decided to brave it and it wasn't quite as painful as i remembered, though i came almost last! You amaze me as i could never run that far, but the park run is handy, and free, so a good thing to do, as long as i don't pay for it all week!

Feeling a bit grumpy today tbh. Is probably hormones. House is a tip and the kids are annoying me with their constant demands. Just fancy a duvet day of my own really.

NC4Now · 09/11/2019 21:32

Me too longest. My plan for the weekend was to get to a point where the house is lovely and clean, my work is done, and I can have a couple of hours chilling in front of the Woodburner. As it is, I keep making a mess, I've just done a three hour round trip to do a harrowing interview, which I now need to write up, and some fucker's run off with my lighter.
I've no sheets on my bed due to my ambitious housework plans this morning.
But I am DRY!!!

Madame your post brought back memories of school cross country. We always had to do it this time of year. Running through freezing brooks in PE skirts. I'm not sure what was worse, the run or the school showers afterwards.

Frouby if I come to yours in my pyjamas can I just bum round for the day too please? It sounds very cosy...

longestlurkerever · 09/11/2019 22:07

Ugh sounds tough NC4 but wowsers, you have really got this!

Have relaxed since kids went to bed, with music and wine (me, not the kids). Off to see dsis tomorrow- dcousin is down from Sheffield to visit her so good opportunity to get together.

Really need to get some kind of handy person in to fix house. Though i waa doing that mess thing as well - dropped a whole box of veggie chilli on the floor and dd2 spilled her painting water on the clean washing.

Waterandlemonjuice · 10/11/2019 10:25

Morning everyone! Day 7 AF here and I’ve already claimed my teacup on the Dry January app as I know I won’t drink today. First Friday and Saturday night without alcohol since May so I’m pleased. Did day 5 of the anxiety reducing exercise last night and slept from 11 - 8.30 so I feel good. And I haven’t had any anxiety dreams for a few weeks so that’s good, I was having them too often.

Plan today is to go for a walk, have a real fire, read the papers and generally have a nice day. I hope everyone else is having a good weekend.

Waterandlemonjuice · 10/11/2019 10:30

Frouby, that sounds like a nice Saturday evening.

Longest, I’m impressed at any running. AND swimming, that’s good

Madame, I hope your night out was fun

NC4, we have got this, high five to us!! With apologies for the American accent 😂 I remember school cross country too, I hated it with a passion.
