New thread for those wanting to reduce alcohol. Always supportive and friendly. No judgements, just support to get to where we feel comfortable with our relationship with alcohol. All welcome.

Am a bit rubbish with clicky links but there are previous threads.

Crapola. Do you have to see him often?

longestlurkerever · 29/11/2018 21:12

Lovely about the baby though! I cuddled a baby this week that was the first in ages not to cry for its mum. Was nice.

NC4Now · 29/11/2018 21:25

No, very very rarely, thankfully.
I think I’ve seen him twice since June, when we split. He totally cut us out, so I’ve been angry but moving on, but he smiled at me yesterday and was a little bit kind, and I completely crumbled. 😢

Aww, yes my friend’s baby is lovely. You can’t not smile back at little gummy first smiles, can you?

NC4Now · 29/11/2018 21:26

It’s a long time since I cuddled a baby too!

Morning all

Just catching up with everyones progress. I would be completely dry if it wasnt for work, kids, housework, useless DH etc etc.

Am mega busy this week, don't feel like I have stopped working since 6am on monday. Got loads to do today as well as trying to talk my mam through resetting her Netflix audio without having to drive over. This is my mam who we have paid for broadband for Christmas. Phoned me yesterday complaining that they hadnt set her up yet and engineer had text at 10am tp say on his way. But I had spoke to her at 9am and she said they were there.

After a frustrating 5 minutes getting to the bottom of it all it turns out it was all installed and set up, he had linked her phone, tablet and kindle already and the text message had just arrived after him. 😂😂😂.

Was out last night with dd at a horsey conference and had a phonecall from my cousins wife. She was away with work, had spoken to my cousin who was absolutely pissed as a fart at home by herself. Cousin rarely drinks but when she does she binges and does stupid stuff. So had to call and check on cousin on way home. Shes a lovely, funny happy drunk but was absolutely wasted. Settled her down for the night with a sick bowl, though she said she is never sick, confiscated her car keys just in case and made her promise not to drink anymore. Will call in after the school run to make sure she ok.

Bet she has a beautiful hangover 😂😂

Emotions are rubbish aren't they NC4. Sounds rough.

Hope your cousin is OK Frouby. You're a good woman to go and sort her out.

Am at Dr waiting for routine blood glucose test that I have to have annually since I had gestational diabetes. Another reason I should get my weight etc under control really.

Then I have to revise for an online test I have to do for a job I'm going for. Can't really be arsed as it's a ridiculously long shot but would be amazing if it came off.

Teddy1905 · 30/11/2018 10:37

Hi, can i join this thread? I can relate to so much of what is being posted. Need motivation going forward, and that it's not just me struggling with this. X

NC4Now · 30/11/2018 15:41

Hi Teddy yes, of course you can join. It’s a lovely group.
I’ve been here about a month and have already cut down. There’s still a way to go but my relationship with drink - and importantly my relationship with sobriety - have already improved.
You’ll find lots of support here xx

CottonSock · 30/11/2018 16:00

Hi all. I did 5 days af. That's the longest since pregnant I imagine.
Will end tonight as the wine is chilling.
I've been quite productive as a result. Getting rid of baby stuff..cried yesterday when lady wheeled away pram. Sob, no more babies and they are getting big.

How's flossie? Has she name changed?

longestlurkerever · 30/11/2018 21:39

Welcome Teddy! I joined about the same time as NC4 and have found it a lovely group too. I've cut down too, though am still working on it. The Christmas build up is a challenge

Flossie44 · 30/11/2018 22:56

Hi everyone.

Sorry, moved house this week. Chaos!!!!! Living on a diet of bubbles!!

Will read back through..and I’ll be back Grin

NC4Now · 01/12/2018 01:07

Happy new home Flossie!!! I am still pissed from moving in June!
Hope it all went smoothly and you have a productive weekend xx

BeekyChitch · 01/12/2018 02:17

Can I join? Feel like a bit of a loose cannon/failure recently especially after last night getting completely wasted offending someone by using an inappropriate word that I NEVER use. Also falling down stairs last week nearly killing myself. I wish I was more confident without alcohol.

Frouby · 01/12/2018 08:13

Hope you are coping flossie. I am never moving again. Ever. They will have to carry me out of here in a box. It's horrific.

Welcome Beeky and Teddy. All welcome here. We are a friendly bunch, especially if we are a bit pissed Grin.

Not dry last night, 4 cans of lager. Not bad for a friday.

Had a bit of a shock yesterday. Dd came in from school pretty upset. She has been pulled out of a lesson and tested for dyslexia I think and told she will get a reader and extra time in exams and that the person doing the test was surprised she hasn't been 'diagnosed' before now.

I am bloody furious. I knew nothing about this, no phonecall or letter to discuss it. No warning for me or dd. And the fact that she must have been working so fucking hard to hide it. She is top stream for everything except English, where she is in second stream. On target for 8s in maths, french, history, working regularly at high 8s in maths and french. Been struggling a bit in English in timed assessments which is what I think has prompted the test. But she is 14 and in year 10 so it should have been picked up by now, especially as a reoccurring issue has been getting written assessments completed.

Poor bloody girl. I am not upset she (probably) has dyslexia, well I am a bit because it makes her life more difficult, but am more upset the way it has been handled. She says school is writing to me, but am phoning monday for an appointment to discuss the test and complain about the way it has been handled.

Sorry, very off topic. But needed a rant.

Hi Flossie. Congrats on the move and enjoy the bubbles!

Frouby. I hope your dd feels better this morning. I wonder what prompted them to test so suddenly without discussing with you.

longestlurkerever · 01/12/2018 14:05

That's crap Frouby, I'd be livid. Though I suppose playing it down might be better for your DD.

Congratulations on your new home Flossie. X

HAHelp · 01/12/2018 14:54

Congratulations on the move Flossie! Hope your DD is doing okay today Frouby?
Welcome beeky and Teddy.....

Hope everyone else is doing ok... very wet weekend so far here but relatively productive Saturday - out early and then back home, some work done and now DH is prepping dinner as he's out tonight. DD very happy with her beauty advent calendar so quite a cosy family feel to the weekend!
Not AF last night (planned) but yet to make up my mind on tonight...

longestlurkerever · 01/12/2018 15:24

My girls are making gingerbread tree decorations. I have retreated to the living room to take cover.

Flossie44 · 02/12/2018 21:24

Hey 👋🏼

Frouby..you go girl!! School should deffo contact you before doing any tests or in fact, any conversation like that!

Dion - you ok darling??

Hi to everyone else. Promise to catch up with you all soon. Don’t know my arse from my elbow currently with the move. Then dd needed adrenaline Friday too.
Just wondered if anyone knew how long it takes for a bottle of wine to leave your system???? Shitting myself as dh back to work tomorrow after a week off/doing the school run!! Does this mean I’m going to be on an enforced drinking ban?!?! Worried about the ‘morning after’ Confused

Dionysa · 02/12/2018 21:47

I have just checked in via Dd’s phone as my computer died a few days ago. FML A million times over. Have been desperate to see what is going on, but can’t see as my eyes aren’t upnto seein an iphone screen. Completely wet here for too many days after a reasonable start to the week. Have particularly been wondering about your move, Flossie.

Will try to post more tomortow as ai might be able to us3xa library computer.

NC4Now · 02/12/2018 22:30

Just a quickie from me after a particularly soggy, but rather enjoyable weekend. December’s tricky. It’s my birthday next week then it’s straight into Christmas really.

Flossie it’s an hour per unit, so I think if you have a bottle of wine but it’s done by about 11pm you’re usually ok to drive in the morning, depending on when you have to leave. You can work it back with that calculation anyway.

Flossie44 · 02/12/2018 22:45

Thanks so much. Will just lick the bottom
Of the bottle Now then.....

NC4Now · 02/12/2018 22:53

Just googled - there are about 10 units in a bottle of wine, so you need 10 hours clear 👍🏼

CottonSock · 03/12/2018 10:19

I had a very wet weekend. Didn't sleep and feel bloated and unhealthy. Day 1 again....
I think I needed it though.

NC4Now · 03/12/2018 10:32

Same Cottonsock. Pre-birthday detox for me this week I think!
