I hesitate to put this on the board but would be interested in the views of anyone who watches this - it's tonight on BBC 1 at 9pm.

I hope it gives a balanced account. Then there is the Channel 4 programme on Wednesday T 10pm on Finding a Mum and Dad.

shick I am sorry for your family's experiences and I hope no family ever has to go through something like this if there is no evidence of harm or potential harm to a child

could you help us out here and put this to bed once for all ?

show us where the evidence is that children's services get paid £40k per forced adoption of a baby...you say it is out there so you must have seen it yourself.

just do that and this whole debate is over

MrsBW · 15/01/2014 14:09

Thanks Madame

I got to the end of the first sentence of the third paragraph before deciding I need exactly that.

These threads have done me an enormous favour. Before, I would have spent a long time reasonably arguing against views like those we have seen over the last 48 hrs, shouting at my keyboard.

Now I realise that some people truly are beyond any kind of reason or sensible debate and as a result I shall instantly relegate their opinion to the 'things that are utterly insignificant in life' pile.

As soon as JH or IJ or any of his brigade

A. Answer direct questions
B. Offer some kind of proof for their allegations
C. Answer the question I posed pages and pages back; how to protect abused and neglected children while getting it right 100% of the time

I'll be interested.

But none of them can or ever do. I wonder why?

Spero · 15/01/2014 14:11

schiken, I am sorry to hear you went through that.

But you say JH is right to say 'leave the country or lose your child'

But you managed to keep your child?

sorry if this is painful for you, but I do genuinely want to understand. I don't want to prop up a corrupt system.

So if you do have any clear proof of these bonuses paid, I would really, really like to see that proof. If you PM me I can give you my email address.

Spero · 15/01/2014 14:12

But at least it is reassuring that you must think the lawyers at least aren't 'in' on the corruption because the judge did NOT give the LA what they wanted - so I assume they lost their bonus in your case?

Sadoldbag · 15/01/2014 15:09

It's simple really if a chid has brittle bones they brakes will continue once I foster carer

But sadly the majority of abuse the pro parts to be medical ECt by parents usually ceases while the child is I care I had a child when I was fostering who the parting said had a eating disorder funny that chid with in 3 weeks was eating and there was a marked difference in there Weight

MadameDefarge · 15/01/2014 15:14

not necessarily sad, if they are having vit D therapy, but as Kew says, it can take a while to get bone density back up to normal levels.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 15/01/2014 15:18

I guess the problem thev, if the child has any particular illness, is that even if the injuries carry on in care, if there is a reason to think the parents have hurt the child, that doesnt magically disappear just because the child is ill. So you cant say that in any cases where the child is found to be ill, they have to automatically be returned, it has to be carefully considered.

Pootlingalong · 15/01/2014 15:56

Been lurking but just popping my head up now to wonder where wizard has gone. Hoping he is going to come back with some answers to spero's "but why?" question, it would be great to know

ouryve · 15/01/2014 15:59

Wizard has been banned.

MadameDefarge · 15/01/2014 16:05

Really?

Shame.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 15/01/2014 16:07

How peculiar

MadameDefarge · 15/01/2014 16:07

Shall I get the kettle on?

Lay out some biscuits?

MadameDefarge · 15/01/2014 16:07

Hemming's Lemmings.

Pootlingalong · 15/01/2014 16:09

Strange coincidence that

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 15/01/2014 16:11

Brew Biscuit Biscuit

Pull up a chair, lemmings :)

MadameDefarge · 15/01/2014 16:14
Cake

Is it too early for wine? Shall we ask John?

Latinmama123 · 15/01/2014 16:24

Snowbell is right about medicine advancing all the time. What is thought today may be obsolete in a couple of years time. Also doctors learn to recognize things that were unknown before. What is a shame is the reluctance of some doctors that always sustain that violence was the only possible cause of the fractures. Doctors should be more cautious now that the whole issue of weaker bones with vitamin D deficiency is starting to be known. AS someone once told me: you don't find what you don't look for and you don't look for what you don't know. Now they know and they should look for possible causes of weaker bones in infants.
If a breast fed baby with rickets and fractures is put in foster care and bottle fed (formula has vitamin D supplements) there is no surprise that the baby will stop having weak bones and will stop getting fractures.

AnyFucker · 15/01/2014 16:24

We can't. Our Hero is banned too. < DM sad face >

MadameDefarge · 15/01/2014 16:35

If John wants to save the country some money he should go a decent diet, get rid of that abdominal blubber which is such an indicator of health problems including strokes, heart attacks and the like which will cost the NHS such a lot of money to treat.

And then he could get some nice suits.

BoreOfWhabylon · 15/01/2014 16:40

Never mind, at least IJ can still post*, should he choose to

*for the time being [wunk]

Spero · 15/01/2014 16:45

So I lose Edward. And now my wizard too ?

But there will be another along in a moment so my grief will be controllable.

MadameDefarge · 15/01/2014 16:47

And John too. Don't forget your first, er, lurrve.

Spero · 15/01/2014 16:57

I will never forget John. Those nights we shared, separated only by a screen and my sobriety. Such magical evenings they were.

MadameDefarge · 15/01/2014 16:58

Too beautiful to last...

I am really looking forward to the debate. Any updates on dates?

Spero · 15/01/2014 17:01

My offers to help in any way I can with organising this particular clash of Titans has been met with stony silence, so suspect am now persona non grata.

Never mind, I have memories to sustain me, along with his proud and noble mein glaring at me from front of Birmingham Post.
