I quite like the Beth Ditto photo - she looks very sexy and very confident. But it's airbrushed to buggery. I'd guess the confidence is still there in the flesh but I imagine she isn't anywhere near as attractive. But then the thin cover girls probably aren't either.

I bought a pair of Size 12 SNOB pedal pushers at a car boot a few years back. SNOB was a High Street tour de force back in the '70s.

I'm a modern-day Size 8 and these were a 1970s 12. I couldn't get them past my thighs.

Women have grown massively in the last twenty years. What was considered 'porky' a generation ago is now considered slim.

There are some sites out there with the measurements of her actual frocks, which I presume fitted her at the time. She was in no way as unhealthily large as someone like Beth Ditto. She may well have been larger than average for her time as people were smaller in those days but she was still pretty slim by today's standards.
