Prefer my own but always share because of cost!

Soggydog · Today 18:05

20s would have expected to share, probably from 30s/mid 30s would expect own room

TheChosenTwo · Today 18:06

I’d not be ‘expecting’ anything because I’d have outlined from the beginning that I would like my own room.
i sleep naked and wouldn’t want to subject anyone else to that. I also only sleep around 4 hours a night and I need them to be good quality and undisturbed by anyone else too.
I’m quite upfront about boundaries!

PropertyD · Today 18:06

Snoring is the pits to listen to so I would tell everyone that you do! If they still want to share then you cannot say you didn’t warn them…

Soggydog · Today 18:06

Think mainly because of finances at those ages tbf.

60andcounting · Today 18:06

Share, more the merrier because of cost. I've shared with snorers as well.

OriginalSkang · Today 18:07

I would never share a room because I'm also a scorer. The last two times I've shared a room with a friend (decades ago, when i was still a size 8!) they both woke me up for snoring... so bloody annoying! There is no way I'd share now

brownbootsandhats · Today 18:08

Expect? I wouldn’t expect anything beyond a discussion as to cost, affordability and general
preference

cartagenagina · Today 18:08

I’m in my sixties. Usually share but might get own room if it’s an apartment with single rooms. I don’t snore and will decamp to sofa if stuck with someone who does.

Do your friends know you snore?

WhatNoRaisins · Today 18:08

I remember hitting some specific age in my late 20s where I just couldn't do room sharing any longer. I've got some great memories of trips before then with a group of us all in the same room but for some reason I hit a point where I couldn't do it.

JustWalnut · Today 18:18

Own room always if travelling with friends. I'm 45 and too old to share! I only share with my sisters, but for two nights max!

hotmumshit · Today 18:19

I dont think youre odd at all

You sound considerate, just depends on finances x

SpanThatWorld · Today 18:20

Agreed in advance

I much prefer my own room but I sometimes sleep in a dorm room with friends and occasionally share a tent

Bitzee · Today 18:21

Share. But the only friends I go away on holiday with I’ve known since school, so it would be a change to not share! And no one has ever suggested it.

ViciousCurrentBun · Today 19:09

I have a friend who won’t share with anyone and others who are happy to share plus have shared with one of my millions of sisters, ok 3 of the 4.

A group I belonged to became too successful and it was at the point they were doing hiking holidays and other overnights together. To cut costs and I understand it they had all shared rooms and it was expected. Just not for me. With very good friends I’m fine.

Mydellisdelling · Today 19:11

I do not share a room other than with DH. Ever. Too long in the tooth for that!

Error404FucksNotFound · Today 19:12

I would always pay for my own room.

ProtestantTraybakeQueen · Today 19:13

No I will always want my own room. Need quiet time, and freedom make noise - who knows what I’ll say in my sleep! Also want to watch Netflix before bed without headphones.

Wrestling67 · Today 19:15

Unless I’ve shared with that person before and we are comfortable with each other, I’d rather be alone.

tell them you snore - there will be no arguments about it 😂

I shared a room with someone who declared they now could only sleep with white noise. I didn’t sleep a wink 😭 never shared with her again and we had always shared before

NorwegianForest · Today 19:15

I would expect to share to keep the cost down.

VegQueen · Today 19:17

I’d always share but I would only go away with close friends

Anabolicanna · Today 19:19

If I could afford it, I would have my own room.

EmmaStone · Today 19:19

Always own room, but I have always been very clear from the outset. I have one group who all want own rooms, and one group that does a mix.

This! And also yeah just state what you want.

latetothefisting · Today 19:33

I'd expect to share (In fact don't ever think I've been on one where I haven't) but would prefer my own! I do draw the line at sharing a bed though, despite most people I've been away with being more than happy to do so.
