Has your flu jab yet?

I had mine (NHS worker)on Thursday. I usually get quite an achey arm and sometimes tender lymph nodes in neck / armpit, but absolutely nothing this year. The actual injection was painless (not even the threatened 'sharp scratch').
I'm unsure whether to be delighted or concerned that my body hasn't mounted any sort of response.
Anyone else been vaccinated yet and how did you feel?

I was unexpectedly vaccinated on Friday when I went to the pharmacy to pick up my medications, and they pounced on me to query if I was sufficiently clinically vulnerable to be vaccinated and did me right there.

sore arm next day, no other effects

Jamtomorrowneverjamtoday · 04/10/2026 21:03

Had mine this morning. Arm is slightly sore but that’s it so far!

Are you sure that a reaction indicates a “good defence” or means it’s going to be more effective? I thought id heard the opposite, eg you can’t tell how well a vaccine will work based on reaction to the jab.

NoWordForFluffy · 04/10/2026 21:03

I had mine 3 weeks ago. No ill effects at all. I didn't even notice a sore arm.

Had mine 3 weeks ago, only noticed a sore arm when lying on it that night. Otherwise I've never had any symptoms at all over the years.

Membrill0 · 04/10/2026 21:07

Had the flu jab on Thursday. A bit tender round the injection site, that’s all.

Kepler22B · 04/10/2026 21:08

I had mine yesterday. Slightly sore arm and feel flu-ey and run down today. But that might be a cold rather than the jab as I work in a school and children are disease vectors.

MummyOre · 04/10/2026 21:08

No, only had flu jab once.
Never again!

yonem · 04/10/2026 21:09

Had mine yesterday as no pharmacy in my area apparently got stock until October despite them being meant to offer it from September. No noticeable effects at all, no sore arm.

AlPaccacino · 04/10/2026 21:13

Had mine on Friday. Arm is still so sore, swollen and red with a banging headache since Saturday morning

LetMeStayInBed · 04/10/2026 21:14

Had mine on Friday. Tender aching arm and felt quite rough yesterday but better today.

Meredusoleil · 04/10/2026 21:16

I've usually had mine by this time every year, but am booked in for a few weeks time because had to fit in with dd1 who also needs it this year (she didn't get it last year, as thought school were doing it but they had stopped at Year 11).

DangerousThingsILove · 04/10/2026 21:16

I had mine last week. No side effects at all. I never have any from the flu jab.

SwedishEdith · 04/10/2026 21:19

Had it a few weeks ago. Felt mildly fluey later that day. I suppose I'm reassured by that.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 04/10/2026 21:20

Flu and covid yesterday, mildly headachy and tired yesterday afternoon. No sore arms.

MadisonAvenue · 04/10/2026 21:22

I had mine yesterday as well as a Covid jab (weakened immune system due to not having my spleen) so I have two sore arms. I’ve also had a headache and have felt tired and generally achy. That’s all easing though now.

I had both together last Autumn for the first time and just had sore arms. The flu jab never affects me but apart from last year I’ve always felt rough after a Covid jab so I’m assuming that’s what’s affected me this time.

ChildrenOfAlbionRovers · 04/10/2026 23:31

Sore arm only this time. I usually get massive shivers at night, but nothing this year.

PlasticFiend · 04/10/2026 23:41

I get mine every year and sometimes get a sore heavy arm for a couple of days but not always. Went to get it on Friday (booked appointment) while picking up antibiotics for a piercing infection and was told to come back in a week. I hadn’t thought twice about it but makes total sense. I like to get it boxed off as early as possible every year. I had more of a reaction to my first covid jab (but not the second or booster) than I’ve ever had from a flu jab. Wouldn’t put me off getting it again if I needed it though.

thinkfast · 05/10/2026 18:19

I had mine on Saturday. I usually get quite ill after a flu jab but no side effects this year.

HelpMeINeedWine · 05/10/2026 18:23

Had mine last week. Absolutely nothing during the day, it was like I hadn't had it. Slightly sore arm by evening/bed time. Fine by the next day.

tealandteal · 05/10/2026 18:25

I had mine on Thursday as well, also NHS worker. No pain at all, even though I was her first vaccination (still a trained clinician!), very slightly sore arm when accidentally bumped it at the end of the day but otherwise no side affects at all.

Chickydoo · 05/10/2026 18:56

Had mine last week, not even a slightly sore arm. No other symptoms at all

Middlemarch123 · 05/10/2026 19:30

Having mine tomorrow. always get a red swollen arm, and mild sore throat in the morning for a week after. DD who is a doctor says it’s a sign the vaccine is working. Having had proper flu a few years ago, raging temp, sickness, actually hallucinating, and couldn’t get out of bed for ten days, I’ll take the side effects any day.

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 05/10/2026 19:32

Booked for Wednesday. Never get any reaction! Never get flu though so it must work!

MrsMoastyToasty · 05/10/2026 19:33

I had mine less than an hour ago.

CMOTDibbler · 05/10/2026 19:43
