How often do you hoover your stair?

For 20+ years I had a plain stair carpet that I hoovered twice a week because it always looked like it needed it.

I now have a flecked carpet and I've realised that since I bought in in April I've only hoovered it three times becuase it never "looks" like it needs doing to remind me.

Weekly. We have cats though so need to hoover regularly.

Every 2/3 days.

Never, but my lovely cleaner does it once a week 😀

We also switched to a flecked colour from a flat colour, and it definitely lasts longer between hooverings

When I notice that it looks like it needs it.
Probably around once every 6 weeks or so, but I don't keep notes.

I have a cream wool one that is the bane of my life. Never again. If I really wanted it to look decent I’d need to do it daily! But probably do it 2-3 times per week. Flecked is the way to go.

About once a month. Quickly pick up bits I can see in between.

One of us vacuums the stairs every 2-3 days.

I hate hoovering the stairs! It's a running joke with my family - my brother will often do it when he's round!
I do it as little as I can get away with, but that's probably still once a month.

Surely the answer is, when it needs it!

Never! I use a stiff hand brush, much more effective than trying to manoeuvre the vacuum.

When I can't bear to look at it any longer

Every 1-2 weeks, though it looks like it needs it before then as previous owners decided red was a good colour but it shows every speck of dirt. I really should replace it with a nice flecked carpet.

A couple of times a week and just before anybody visits 😂. It could be done daily really. We don’t wear shoes upstairs but still manage to trail plenty of debris on them.

Upstairs and main stairs get done once a week. Having said that if I'm hoovering the hall and notice a few bits on lower stairs, I might do those. We have pets.
