How often do you hoover your stair?

For 20+ years I had a plain stair carpet that I hoovered twice a week because it always looked like it needed it.

I now have a flecked carpet and I've realised that since I bought in in April I've only hoovered it three times becuase it never "looks" like it needs doing to remind me.

As a regular Mumsneter, I have to ask if I'm dreaming this thread. Most on here shower twice a day so I'm mystified that less than once a week is the average answer for vacuuming the stairs.

They get done twice a week, cleaner does them once and I do them once, she uses her own hoover rather than mine but hers is a bit rubbish compared to ours and I’m always horrified that the container is pretty much full by the time I’ve done the carpeted areas, no pets and no one really seems to wear shoes upstairs despite not being a ‘shoes off indoors’ household, we all just prefer not wearing them inside.

Twice a week, although I hoover the rest of the house daily because of the cat. The stairs don’t tend to get too dirty, as we don’t wear shoes in the house.

Just the 2 of us, no pets and no shoes; my husband does it weekly. Before he retired I did every other week with the vacuum and the in between week with a clean stiff brush.

Agreed, I was expecting to see twice a day for almost every reply!

Every 2 or three days.

I run the hoover over the stairs once a week when I'm doing the rest of the house. Once a month or so I get into all the corners with a stiff brush.

I brush cat hairs with a rubber brush twice week, hoover once a week.

Dh does it weekly

Weekly because it's light and I have dogs!

DS is supposed to do it every day with a little handheld vacuum (laminate stairs that gather dust far too enthusiastically). In reality it happens maybe once a week.

Then as and when needed with the cordless, which is generally every other day, as it’s a darkish carpet and the bits annoy me!
