Your ‘emergency supplies/stockpile’.

Has anyone else started stashing a few things away in the event of some kind of ‘national emergency’ and if so, what sort of things are you storing?

I’m certainly not going to turn into a prepper but as I have plenty of storage space, I’ve got two big plastic boxes filled with dried goods (rice/pasta etc) and then some tinned stuff. I’ve also stocked up on batteries, candles and matches and I bought a solar charger. And oh, got two 5 litre bottles of water.

The temptation to go a bit nuts and plan for Armageddon is high! 😂😂 But I’m being sensible and just having enough for the basics to keep us going for about a week. I’m also cycling through the food so it doesn’t get wasted - use a tin of beans and then replace it etc.

Some people will be incapable of hiding their attitude.

Or you could try ‘why is the government telling people to stockpile’. If you genuinely don’t understand how to use google, that explains a lot.

@LilyBunch25 but how much extra do you have?

Everything for 4-5 weeks, except vital meds for DH, we have 2 extra weeks. Everything gets used, rotated, replaced except for the gas canisters, batteries.

I prefer to ask real people real questions. I hope that explains what you are having difficulty with though

It will only thaw if there’s a prolonged power cut. A power cut isn’t the only eventuality we should be prepared for. We may have power but no internet, in which case the supply chains will break down, shops will be empty and banking will go to shit. Or our water supply might be contaminated so we can’t use mains water.

Obviously it’s risky if your only back up is a freezer full of food, but having extra food in the freezer as well as tins, dried food and bottled water makes sense.

I have 24 litres of water, we have loo roll on subscription so always have 48 spare, also have packs of rice and pasta. Thinking I need some long life milk and cereal bars really. I may buy a wind up torch.

Ah, so just basic laziness.

It's all already here for you to read on this and multiple other threads. Reams of suggestions, other peoples plans, solutions to scenarios they may encounter. Literally pages and pages.

Or actually closer to research as opposed to believing everything Google tells me?

We've got a really good wind up radio/torch/power bank. All tested and works really well.

Having posted for some time on this thread, assumptions and rudeness have prevailed. There isn't any use in either

I live a quarter of a mile from one of the biggest cities in the country. Not rural at all. Having a disabled vulnerable partner makes you very aware of how quickly things could get bad in an emergency, so its deadly serious to me.

And where is the evidence for what everyone is doing?

A few days of snow "perhaps". Interruption to fuel supplies- what about people who can't afford, don't have space or unable to physically prep like others? Safety of those who don't typically use food unrefrigerated and storing food safely for consumption.

I didn't say "predictable unpredictable events" though.

I said "issues predicted (note - it is the issues that are predicted) around unpredictable events", the events are unpredictable, and could be several of numerous scenarios. The whole point is that there is no ONE event predicted.

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time comprehending it. People have tried to explain to you but you just don't seem to want to understand. And you refuse to look into it at all.
