Influx of far-right posters

Slightyamusedandsilly · 07/09/2026 08:57

Why has the site suddenly had an influx of far-right posters? Almost overnight.

Is this a concerted campaign by the black shirts from Dover, Reform or Tommy ten names to infiltrate women's SM?

@TemperanceWest Given the vitriol that would be poured on them if their names were made public, I can understand why they might be reticent.

That ship has sailed.
One of them has attended at least one branch meeting in Lincolnshire which is where (she claims) she was asked to be a councillor. An official from that Branch has denied that this offer was made.

He did confirm however that they did discuss the option of her becoming a councillor.

This was after she was removed from last year's conference for heckling.

That is not correct.

This thread has many posting along the same lines, which adds up to more than just what you’re posting.

Do you disagree that there has been an influx of posters with far right views of late? And for the avoidance of doubt, I don't mean people who are concerned about immigration.
I'm talking about people expressing views that there is a conspiracy to make white people a minority, that the UK is being taken over by Islam, that this needs reversing through deportation. That certain citizens are not really citizens because they or their parents weren't born here. Justification and defence of assaults and public disorder in 'the cause'. "The lion has roared" being a particular highlight.
These are not the moderate views imo. The upsurge in these opinions on a site with MN demographic is of interest.

I don’t think influx is the correct phrasing as you were probably closer with your earlier post on the demographics of the site.

It has a left wing bias already. Posters are likely to notice views that are not their own. So if it’s left leaning the posts to the right stand out to them.

I prefer it when women with different political views are not driven off at all, except mnhq can still delete whatever doesn’t meet guidelines.

Yes, you may well be right that it's not an 'influx' and certainly in that an extreme post will stick in the mind where a dozen moderate ones may not. Which is why people will often accuse the site of being 'misandrist' overlooking the balanced posts that acknowledge patterns of male bad behaviour without hating men, and highlighting those where women actually do state they hate men.
You have led me to reflect that this may be the same thing.

Chris Reeve, representing the Lincolnshire branch, clarified that while a conversation did occur regarding her getting involved locally, it was not an offer to be a councillor

Any sign of that footage?

I'm not posting footage filmed by another person. It wouldn't be appropriate.
If there is an investigation then it will be all footage that will be viewed, if not it is irrelevant.

People post links to footage all the time. Perhaps you could screenshot a still?

Otherwise, Hitchens' Razor applies.

I agree with you. However many of the very vocal anti immigration people have a hatred of 'the left' quite outside of the immigration debate. They are furious we have a Labour government and (correctly) see left leaning people as the barrier to their government of choice. They are here to drum up support for their own party and discredit the left rather than look for areas of agreement.
Its actually very difficult for a left wing person to engage in a discussion about immigration without having to wade through a slurry of posts accusing 'the left' of having caused or been complicit in the immigration problem, and when any failure to agree to all points is dismissed as 'not listening' which is 'a trait of the left' apparantly.
There are actually areas we probably all agree on, for example that the boats should be stopped and asylum seekers shouldn't be dumped into already struggling communities adding to the strain on their resources. But productive discussion is often blocked by this other agenda.

Spot on @5128gap

When I challenge some of the nasty comments about immigrants and asylum seekers, I'm often accused of wanting 'uncontrolled immigration'. When I point out on a thread that no one has called for uncontrolled immigration and it's not what I want, they start on a different means of attack.

There's a real bias on MN where people on the people have to be reasonable but no such constraint applies to those on the right.

Agree. The other line of attack if you challenge the vitriol is being accused of not caring about the murder of Rhiannon Whyte and others who have suffered harm at the hands of asylum seekers. Which is unreasonable and untrue.

It’s because some posters accuse others of ‘weaponisation’.

The same tactics that are used on the CITME threads.

The CITME board is something else. I dip in and see the one or two posters going against the grain and the types of responses. Idk how they keep going.

TopPocketFind · 08/09/2026 12:44

I remember the 'you don't care about women and girls if you don't support Trump's war' shouts.

CITME is a very divisive board.

Yes. I remember that too. All those voices have gone rather quiet now we see that Trump's aggression has not helped the women of Iran one iota. As predicted.

You don't even have to challenge anything. I saw a post accusing 'the left' of 'celebrating the brutal murder of an 80 year old woman' as an attempt at whataboutery to distract from Farage et al laughing at the assaults on the protester.
I can only assume they meant that TRA, who did indeed make disgusting comments about Anne Wiidecombes murder, dragged up as the voice of 'the left'. That's not debate and the sharing of alternative views about the issue in the thread. It's a blatant attempt to smear.

People have gone quiet because this discussion is exactly as it was then. And there’s no point to it. It drives posters off.

For everyone that claims the BBC is left wing there is also someone that claims it’s Right Wing. It can’t win. I’ve listened to phone ins every day for the last two years, (as they happen to be on as I’m driving to work), and you will often hear both accusations levelled at the host within half an hour.
I made the mistake of going on that Portsmouth thread. Very weird. I’m happy to respect opposing views to my own, but there is an odd aggression, lack of logic, and constant twisting of others posts to try and make the arguments so convoluted that they can barely be followed happening-and I’ve noticed it more and more lately. I don’t know if it’s deliberate or if it comes from posters who support reform just following how the senior figures in Reform behave in the media rounds. And then there are the more obvious extreme views, but where in the past these would been called out for what they were, they are now being more readily supported. Unfortunately I think that’s reflective of society in general. It’s how more and more people think now and that’s, to me, really sad.

I am not sure about the credibility of the media bias site. They referenced trans opinion of the BBC via a Good Law sponsored poll. Sure, trans people think the BBC is insufficiently sympathetic, and that is evidence that the BBC isn’t left leaning. 🙄

Doesn’t work for me.
