I can't write. I write like I'm 7 years old. Actually a 7 year old probably writes better than me. My writing gas always been child like. Its getting worse though. I probably only pick up a pen a handful of times a year. The feel on my fingers feels strange. Anyway its really bad.

The form is awful compared to a few years back its so confusing. I can't understand what question belongs to what.

Have you seen the cerebra guide? I found it helpful when applying.

https://cerebra.org.uk/download/disability-living-allowance-dla-guide/

Disability Living Allowance (DLA) - Cerebra

Our guide takes you through each question on the DLA form, giving you explanations of what they mean and tips on how to answer them. This guide is for England and Wales only.

Your writing is absolutely fine. I would recommend you use a wp to fill in DLA forms though, and stick the typed answers on the form. Then you have all the info stored if you need to add/change anything and it's really easy to alter for subsequent claims/EHCP etc etc.

I’m old and I spent hours practicing writing as a young child in primary school. It was compulsory in the 50’s and early 60’s.
Sadly it’s a dying art nowadays.

That’s much neater than mine!

Isthiscorrect123 · 27/08/2026 18:31

If you think your writing's bad, look at mine.

At least yours is legible.

Although your spelling is where you could definitely improve. You misspelt awareness and reassurances. Spelling is more important than handwriting imo.

Always assume dyslexia. Criticising spelling is not the done thing now we understand dyslexia.

Isthismykarma · 27/08/2026 18:41

I once got 0 in a maths essay at school because the teacher couldn’t read my writing.
She said I was destined to be a doctor haha

FaceIt · 27/08/2026 18:46

I don’t think it’s that bad at all.

Before I saw your image, I thought it was going to be like someone’s with dysgraphia.

DaysIllRememberAllMyLife · 27/08/2026 18:48

That's fine. It's better than mine. Mine just looks like a load of loops.

It's fine! I have an essential tremor so my handwriting looks like a spider has danced a jig across the page.

It's not just you who can't read it, even I can't read my own writing.

I think yours looks much neater than mine, but maybe that's a matter of opinion.

Chilly80 · 27/08/2026 19:07

Mines worse

ladygindiva · 27/08/2026 19:08

I can read every word you've written. Unlike my GP

Waitingfordoggo · 27/08/2026 19:08

I handwrite quite often and my writing is messy. It’s not childlike but it’s really inconsistent. You could think that chunks of it were written by different people. I used to envy the kids (who were usually girls) with beautiful, even handwriting at school, but I could never do it. I write like I think, so it comes out in a messy rush when I’ve had an idea; and then gets neater when my thinking slows down (because the writing slows down too!).

Yours is perfectly legible so I wouldn’t worry about it.

ShitHoleDweller · 27/08/2026 19:08

The older you get the worst your handwriting gets unfortunately so I wouldn’t worry.

It’s very like my handwriting. I got a book and a pen and taught myself Italic handwriting, which people coo over.

Oh i do the same I write how I speak. And what's in my head. I can't write paragraphs as separate points within a topic it would be mixed

It's ok I don't mind they are not to know. Only time it pisses me off is when its not the topic. In this case it can fit. 💐

I'm always absolutely mortified if one of the kids asks me to write their teacher a letter, I'm like a toddler concentrating on the most amazing lego build ever. I do have essential tremor though so I'll blame that for my really shit handwriting, though it is largely down to lack of use these days.
