I can't write. I write like I'm 7 years old. Actually a 7 year old probably writes better than me. My writing gas always been child like. Its getting worse though. I probably only pick up a pen a handful of times a year. The feel on my fingers feels strange. Anyway its really bad.

Are children still taught to write joined up?

Mine is worse OP and I have a phd and work in academia and everyone expects me to have lovely writing 😂
Dyslexia affects handwriting as well as spelling, give yourself some credit and be kind to yourself, you would not see this as a fault in others.

If youre worried about the DLA form OP you can download it online and type it, then print it off

Well, you're not in Doctor league of rubbish handwriting so all is good!

ChatGPT will spell check though. The handwriting is fine.

My ds genuinely has handwriting that looks like a 5 year old’s. He got a Masters degree and a grad job.

I'm not overly worried. I should think they get writing like that often but I didn't know you could down load dla forms and do it online. I might look.

Mine is illegible. I’m in my fifties and I still remember having difficulty in primary school when I learned joined writing.

On the plus side I can read most people’s writing regardless of how bad it is when many others struggle to read it.

I didn't know dyslexia effects writing . Learn something new everyday

You still need to print off and post but that may be quicker than handwriting and means you can edit if you need to. I wasn't trying to imply you needed to type btw 😊

So I guessed this from the handwriting. It's very like my dh's writing with the random capital letters in the middle of sentences.

Perfectly legible though and spelling errors were understandable.

Teacher here, I see some pretty illegible handwriting. It isn't pretty but it's easily readable. It looks like a silly little box they've given you to write in. I find mine varies depending on the pen I am using, what sort of paper and how tired I am.

There's nothing wrong with your handwriting, perfectly legible. You should see mine, can't even read it myself!

I do use chatgpt if its really important. Like if I was writing something to a professional I would be there all day if I used it for everything

😅 no its fine. If my printer works i may print it of. Because I have made lots of mistakes like writing the wrong thing in the wrong box. Mixing up numbers not understanding the question loads of notes added bits crossed out. Looks a mess.

The point of your writing is to communicate and that writing does the job perfectly. If you were saying I need to write quicker for some reason then you’d need to join letters etc but for the amount of writing most of us need to do on a day to day basis it’s absolutely fine, it’s conveyed the information you wanted it to and is easy to read.

I could show you mine and you would feel a million times better!

They are bloody horrible forms to fill in so be kind to yourself.

Ok, its a small company, but there is only 1 person where I work with "nicer" handwriting than you. Yours is totally readable - which is more than can be said for most of the company!!

Dyslexia here too - and it's frightening when im adked for spelling or nice handwriting!!

Id definitely type if that's possible tho - those boxes look really narrow making life harder.

Haven’t read the full thread but I’ve worked with both doctors and solicitors and nearly all of them have atrocious handwriting. I have to look through forms at work and the amount of times I’ve had to ask people what they have written is incredible! I’d be delighted to get your writing in my inbox as I can read it!

The form is awful compared to a few years back its so confusing. I can't understand what question belongs to what.
