Evening everyone. I've been absolutely wiped out again today. Went to collect school uniform order and felt so shaky when I got back.

Then upsetting stuff this evening with my neighbours. I think they've installed a sonic animal scarer. Went outside to sit a few minutes while dinner cooked and was met with a horrible high pitched noise. DS was bothered by it too. I can't open the windows as I can hear it indoors and I sleep with my windows open. I struggle to sleep with them shut.

I've messaged him but he's not read it. I haven't spoken to them for ages because they upset me badly about something else and I couldn't cope with the upset. I don't feel well enough to go round there tomorrow but I will have to unless I write a note and ask DS to put it through the door for me.

My tinnitus has flared since 😭😭😭

Good grief what a thoughtless thing to do! It must be affecting other neighbours too. Is it even legal?

MewithME · 25/08/2026 07:33

It's horrendous. He's not read the message. I will have to write a note and ask DS to drop it round.

I think it's mainly me it will upset.. their neighbours the other side is further away. The bottom of their garden is next to my house as I'm side on to them. They are awful selfish people. Poor DS was very upset by it. Children really hear it.

My lovely neighbor who is opposite them walked their dog last night and said it was loud and she could hear it when out.

Oh I'm sorry @MewithME, those things are horrendous. An ex of mine got some that stuck in the ground for his veg patch and I couldn't go near it - meant to be that humans couldn't hear them but I definitely could (he couldn't but he was a bit deaf...).

Slept OK once the neighbours calmed down - I think just one of them came back from wherever they drove off to. It's a grey day so far and I've got some tedious website work to do at work.

If it's that loud surely it's a public nuisance? Maybe environmental health at the council could advise?

Thanks Tea. I think I could go via council but that's one of those disputes you have to declare if you move things. I will have to if they don't rectify it.

I hope it doesn't scare the birds in my garden away. Though I can't sit in my garden now without noise cancelling earbuds in.

I know exactly what you mean. We had a potty neighbour who had bonfires all the time but luckily someone else reported him! Didn't dare ourselves in case we sold. Luckily he pissed off a retired lady at the bottom of his garden who didn't mind being unpopular! Maybe your dog walking friend would make a call?

MewithME · 25/08/2026 09:00

I'll get up and write a note shortly. 🤞🏻

I don't know what to do with myself. I'm still feeling weak and rough. Don't know if I dare push myself to see my Mum. It's a huge drive. Because time is running out, I won't get much recovery time the other side before going back to work but I feel so guilty if I can't go. I've really struggled this summer. I think I pushed through my holiday and stuff for DS birthday and I haven't properly recovered.

I won't be able to see her for months though if I don't push now. It's really awful living so far away. Especially as she won't come to me.

I feel bad about having our holiday now though we needed it. I feel like this a choice between holiday/sorting house out/seeing my Mum. It's crap isn't it?

Sorry for the morning whinge. The tinnitus is getting to me!

@MewithME if it's a long drive is it possible to fly?

MewithME · 25/08/2026 09:09

No, drive only. I think public transport is worse for me anyway, with the noise and risk of delays , queuing etc. She's at least 15 miles from the nearest train station. So at the least it'd be taxi, train, train, taxi.

Thanks for the thought though x

Morning all
May be quiet today
Im being completely zonked by new meds and I haven’t even managed a full days dose yet. I may have to build slowly as I’m quire sensitive to meds anyway.
Took the morning dose half an hour ago having done the things I absolutely needed to first in case it fully zonks me again! Going to read and rest in bed so if I need to sleep I can. It appears from google it’s best to rest the damaged tendons and I’ve been trying to push through 😣 It definitely felt easier this morning though. At least until I got up and moved that is! Just hope the zonked feeling eases as my body adapts. I just want pain relief that allows me to function to some degree, just a little bit even but feels like too much to ask right now.

Thats such a difficult one @MewithME over visiting your mum as it sounds like you’ll feel bad which ever choice you make 😕 Is there any way of making the journey easier? A stop over and nights sleep part way?

And that noise sounds just awful!

Have a good ( well as possible) day everyone 😊

DS has just been round with a note for me. Don't like doing it that way but I'm not feeling at all well so I can't cope with going in person. 😭

I hate stuff like this.

You're certainly not alone in not liking this sort of stuff. It's a real shame that some people don't understand what a nuisance they are being.

Be kind to yourself. And rest as much as you can.

TeaAndStrumpets · 25/08/2026 11:54

@TodayIsabetterone not being a specialist in muscles tendons etc myself I can't comment on meds but I have recently noticed something about my stiff shoulder/neck which I will pass on for what it's worth.

The osteopath has done wonders for me and everything has been a lot looser recently except for when I sit at the dining table. After a lot of research I have concluded the table is about 2" too high for me. It doesn't sound an awful lot, but it does pull on my shoulder when I sit at the table and use cutlery. I am trying not to rest my forearms on the table now and it actually helps. Part of my problem is sitting on a lowish chair and the table/chair ratio is off. If I sit on a higher chair my legs dangle and it pulls on my lower back. You can't win!

TodayIsabetterone · 25/08/2026 12:22

The note sounds like an excellent plan @MewithME Better to avoid confrontation I’d say! Rest up if you can.

Yes it’s getting the positioning right isn’t it @TeaAndStrumpets I’m similar with sitting upright still. I think it’s any position where my arm is dangling down and gravity then pulls on the shoulder. 🤔 so that fits in with why it’s so much worse in the evenings. I am also carrying a small cushion around for support again every place I sit or lie!

Seriously do you think a sling or similar would help short term?

TeaAndStrumpets · 25/08/2026 12:39

I keep getting ads for recycled toilet roll. Is it just me who thinks it could be better described?

TodayIsabetterone · 25/08/2026 13:34

I actually googled about a sling @TeaAndStrumpets as I’m holding it subconsciously anyway but I think I’ll check with the physio when I go in 2 weeks as from a stroke perspective it can give the brain the wrong message or something. I just wish it wasn’t my dominant hand!

No toilet roll ads here but I think I know which ones you mean! 😂
I’ll just stick with the ones that use adorable puppies in their ads! 😬

TeaAndStrumpets · 25/08/2026 13:51

@TodayIsabetterone Well you can't get better than an adorable puppy!

Either way it sounds like a bit of rest is called for, it would be good to get some advice.

martha79 · 25/08/2026 14:38

Haha, my favourite toilet paper was Asda's own recycled but it seems to have been discontinued. It was smooth without being too fluffy!

Well done for sending the note @MewithME, I hope it gets resolved. And you figure out what to do about visiting your mum.

Had a nice lunchtime walk here - took my library books back, got a couple of new ones, sat on a bench for ten minutes (this is an achievement as I'm terrible at sitting still/ resting but am trying to be better), met a friendly dog.

Came home and thought I'd try out the heating to make sure it works ahead of the weather getting colder. It definitely works, have boiled myself 😅I do need to bleed the towel rail though as it only gets warm about a third of the way up, and was making some spectacular noises.

I'm sure this was a joke at school when I was 11! "Recycled toilet paper. Do you get it? " You reply yes to say you get the joke and then everyone goes ewwwww! 😆

I think the noise has stopped. Now feeling slightly anxious that I was too strong in my note but it's amazing just how stressful the noise was. My tinnitus is raging still. Hasn't been this bad. It's weird how external sounds can set it off

I'm just flopped on my bed watching Netflix. Terrible really but I can't imagine doing anything else today.

I'm very twitchy and buzzy. Like I'm full of internal shivers or bees. I really hate this symptom so much.
