Fulfilled a childhood dream of owning a treehouse as never had one when young and always felt a void from it.
So at the grand age of 67 I commissioned an architect to design one for an old oak tree in the garden. It was complicated a month ago by a team of 2 carpenters and I have spent many hours reading, sleeping and just being at one with nature in it. I have a rope ladder to go up and a slider that wraps around the tree to come down

That is one of my life long dream too. Yours sounds gorgeous.

Reading books again. A good friend recommended the Cazalet Chronicles and I absolutely binged them this summer. There’s nothing better than that feeling of being utterly absorbed in a fictional world, and for me these days it’s all the better when it’s a female author writing insightful and meaningful books about women’s lives.

There’s a sequel - written by a relative of EJH’s coming out in September!

Reading this thread
Releasing a Sparrowhawk i found trapped under netting, it gently flapped its wings & flew off looking to its side in really relaxed way. And later same day released a huge house spider i’d found trapped in a stack of saucepans!

I am enjoying the cooler days, the rainstorms and the back to school vibe. I love the autumn. Also binge-read Lena Dunham’s Famesick. I love her turn of phrase and self-awareness.

Do you mind me asking how you sorted it??

Following a consistent skin care regime. These products might not work for everyone but they did for me .
AM - splash face with cold water, apply The Ordinary azelaic acid to cheeks, chin, nose and forehead. If staying in, follow up with Aveeno oat gel moisturiser, if going out use Aveeno calm and restore moisturising sun screen and light make up (erborian cc cream, mascara, eyebrow pencil, tinted lip balm)
PM - cleanse with Aveeno non foaming calm and restore cleanser, applied using a wet muslin cloth. Then the Aveeno oat gel moisturiser followed with a little Uriage barie-derm cica cream on the rosacea prone areas.
Been doing this routine for four months and my (type 2) roseacea is all but gone.
In addition, I've given up alcohol.

  1. A daily walk in my local woods with the dog, even better when I see a deer or squirrel.
  2. Listening to podcasts and audiobooks while I tidy up/ cook meals.
  3. Found a new upbeat podcast I love called the Wellness Scoop in which they recommend a meditation app - The Way. There was a free 30 day trial and I am now 50 days in and the best meditation practice I have ever done, I really do experience peace and relaxation during it. Appreciate it more as I am normally an anxious/ worrier type of person.

Have loved reading everyone’s responses.
