What have you been enjoying lately?

OP posts:
Princessfluffy · 20/08/2026 22:01

Picking blackberries, making blackberry and apple crumble and eating it with custard!!!

LondonLass2026 · 20/08/2026 22:07

Finally being able to run for an hour with almost no stopping! The feeling of just going and going is second to none. The head-clearing qualities are insane. I would urge anyone to try it for improving mental health.

I originally took it up after a very bad miscarriage which almost killed me 12 or so years ago, but this is the first year I've been able to run so far!

Fulfilled a childhood dream of owning a treehouse as never had one when young and always felt a void from it.
So at the grand age of 67 I commissioned an architect to design one for an old oak tree in the garden. It was complicated a month ago by a team of 2 carpenters and I have spent many hours reading, sleeping and just being at one with nature in it. I have a rope ladder to go up and a slider that wraps around the tree to come down

I let some of my garden go wild. There were some twenty year old oak trees growing there. I'm very carefully strimming the grass now and about ten baby oak trees and also a few hazels have appeared, so it's a baby forest. I had one bluebell in the spring and I'm hoping that strimming and removing the grass will mean more wildflowers appear next year.

This sounds absolutely wonderful-enjoy your forest 🌳

When I first saw this my initial thought was “urghhh, nothing, life’s shit…” and to be fair, my life’s not great at the moment and I am quite down. However, not only have I LOVED reading what you’ve all been up to - and been inspired by it - I realised I have massively enjoyed going swimming again.

I joined a gym a few months ago and have regularly been swimming, building up from managing a couple of lengths to swimming 1km most days now, followed by a lovely relax in the spa pool and/or sauna/steam room. I’m more toned, have several lovely new swimsuits (BNWT off Vinted), have met new people, feel amazing when I’m done and am enjoying some precious ‘me’ time before being back to reality. Thank you OP for starting this and to everyone else for sharing. Life’s not as bad as I think 😁

Princessfluffy · 20/08/2026 22:19

Love these and am swooning about the treehouse

EveningSpread · 20/08/2026 22:22

I bought organic broccoli from ALDI today (instead of standard or tenderstem).

It was so delicious! And it didn’t crumble away when cut.

Is it always like that? What is this sorcery??!! Why haven’t I ever bought it before?!

canuckup · 20/08/2026 22:23

Sunbathing

Enjoying fresh fruits

Summerhillsquare · 20/08/2026 22:24

Ah @Letsskidaddlethats amazing. Life often boils down to the small things bringing moments of joy. Also, swimming saved me during menopause.

VeraPetrovnaGorky · 20/08/2026 22:40

using grok to help me write stories about a military base, because i like to understand the characters psychology and it sorta models real life people in general and gives me a psychological analysis with the storys and its nice to understand relationships and their connections and how love can develop through the characters i help create

Illicililly · 20/08/2026 22:48

I’m really enjoying being able to walk briskly again. When it was hot it felt like every step was an effort.

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 20/08/2026 22:56

My daughter’s better MH. She’s just done her GCSE’s and is leaving the school to move on to another college. She seems in a better place all summer. As soon as she left to do exams she was lighter in mood. We went on holiday and she got out of her comfort zones every day.
Complete 180°. She passed all her exams today and it’s a relief after all she’s been through.

shrunkenhead · 20/08/2026 23:12

I have been enjoying:
iced lattes with hazelnut syrup
Doughnuts
Pistachio ice cream
I have been unwell and struggling to eat and am finally beginning to get my appetite back and enjoy food again! I appreciate they may not be the healthiest of food choices but I'm at the stage where if I fancy something I allow myself to eat it! It's good progress.

Teainapinkcup · 20/08/2026 23:22

trying new things (buying stuff I like and not worrying what others think) and visiting new places, I am on a journey of (new) self discovery (If that makes sense lol)

BeMellowAquaSquid · 20/08/2026 23:23

I’ve enjoyed my really low gas bill that’s for sure.

Activelife · 20/08/2026 23:27

austin5795 · 21/08/2026 04:27

Thank you for sharing, everyone. I had fun reading all your stories. I hope you feel a little better each day. Small progress is still progress. I hope you all continue to enjoy life and appreciate the little things along the way. 💗

Sorting my skin out! After finally getting my skincare worked out I have got rid of my rosacea, I'm delighted and can't believe how good my skin looks.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 21/08/2026 05:07

I'm enjoying an easy dinner after a Costco run: rotisserie chicken in warm pita with grapes, strawberries and figs on the side. I also bought a lemon-blueberry loaf with a crumble top and am planning on a slice of that next. 😋

The cooler weather. Morning dog walks are back to being a relaxed affair rather than a race against the heat.

Ditto

@GameOfJoneson your French trip see if you cans find an open Emmaus. They are like the charity shops to beat all charity shops.

Whorulestheroost1 · 21/08/2026 06:44

My new house. We moved the end of July into a Georgian house a few minutes walk from our gorgeous town and despite needing a shit ton of work I just love it. It is not a huge house more cottage with the best location.

MurielTheTerrible · 21/08/2026 06:46

I was loving the sun and the warmth, I think I'm part lizard.
Rewatching ER, not seen it since it was first on TV.
Grilled goats cheese salad, my summer obsession.
