Worst holiday idea?

Safari just does not appeal to me at all.

Smiley. Thoughtful. Passionate.

What's your 'life' motto?

That would be - chuck it in the fuck it bucket and move on. I don’t dwell on things, hate drama and don’t mind not following the crowd. It seems to serve me well in living a calm quiet life.

Do you use your vote (at elections)?

I could not stand to live my life like an episode of EastEnders either.....

I always vote (not exactly sure why sometimes though).

Advice to your younger self?

Nope - not even a filter on a photo! To me, it's as though I'm changing history. I have a friend who uses filters on all of her photos; it's so bad that I don't recognise her sometimes. I'm not joking.

I try to avoid 'AI' tools at work as much as possible but I know it's coming......

I had a physio appt that went ok, about an hour ago.

On a scale of 1 to 10, with ten being most " green" how good do you think you are, environmentally speaking? Any extra info would be interesting 😊

Awful - we aren’t huge consumers of β€˜stuff’ and most my clothes are from vinted or charity shops. I cook well and never waste food- HOWEVER my husband drives a big gas guzzler, we fly 6/7 times a year and 2 of those trips are long haul and always business class.
We run a hot tub at 40 degrees pretty much all year round, shower twice daily sometimes, will run a dishwasher or washing machine half empty, use cleaning wipes like going out of fashion. tumble dry any thing that can be tumble dried, have air con units and a second home
i have also been known to hide household rubbish bin bags under the recycling if the black bin is full just to get rid

In my Life Time - Social media and unsupervised access to the internet hands down. I’m a Social worker and believe it has increased the risk to young people exponentially- see it everyday - grooming, exploitation, serious safeguarding concerns etc

In my Life - my boobs ! Used to be my best asset now are so big and droopy and heavy they are damaging my back. Reduction early next year - can’t wait

Most overrated/hyper food craze you just don’t get?

Bubble Tea. I just don't like the look of it.

'Salted' everything nowadays - ice cream, chocolate, caramel.... What's wrong with sticking to the classic flavours? Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. (Blimey. If only I could live every aspect of my life by that πŸ˜‚)

Energy Drinks - Did humans not survive previously?

Food not served on a plate - No, I don't want to eat out of a plant pot or out of a shell....

There's probably more. I know what I like and what I don't like.

Hmmm. It depends on my mood. I think I will have to go for a genre rather than a specific show: 'Comedy'.
Closely followed by 'True Crime'.

Any guilty pleasures?

Our shopping - That we are (almost!) two empty nesters who have been banging out home cooked family dinners for 6 kids for the best part of 3 decades and now are fed up to back teeth if all that planning/shopping/cooking/clearing up lark lol-
So trolley wise now - think quality Cook or M&S meals/ butcher counter meat or fish portions for two - bucket loads of salad leaves, vine tomatoes and jarred anti pasti veg/ berries and β€˜fancy fruit’/ avocados/ β€˜posh’ microwaveable veg and flavoured rice and grains / new pots / jarred legumes / Spanish cheese/ and cold meats /pate/ red wine/ craft beers and individual expensive desserts.

Our trolley screams empty nesters or TINKA’s lol -

Wallowing in a painful hangover, in radio silence with phone switched off, eating copious amounts of butter (with some toast and jam on the side) endless cups of tea watching James Bond or a Carry on Film.

What superpower would you choose ?

Bubble tea - gives me the heebs!

Don't mind the salted caramel to be fair but I quite like a sweet savoury combo

Energy drinks -absolute scourge , shouldn’t exist and as for teens consuming them don’t get me started (I was a teacher before I became a social worker) just stick to sneakily drinking booze and smoking the odd spliff over the park weekends like the good old days not drinking that crap -rancid !

I like a plate and a knife and fork -or a street food / fish n chips box or polystyrene container with a wooden prong
Anything else -especially slate/wooden board related can get to fuck!

Big spoon or little Spoon?

I have an Old Testament Jewish name - very common now but not so when I was little and I hated it. Especially as it was always read out wrong and living in a tiny rural village it stood out and was a huge source of cringe and embarrassment for me - so bizarre now looking back lol!

I wanted to be called Krystal or Alexis (from Dynasty) when I was little or Dusty-Rose (??) or Sharon.

If could choose my name now I think I would chose Karen - as a reclaiming/ kick back for all the vile things that are said in the current stereotype vein towards middle aged women who dare to venture an opinion. Also, it’s my mums and SILs name and they are two of the loveliest people I know. Failing that, obviously Sharon- Dusty-Rose lol

Working hard or hardly working ?

Working hard. Playing hard. I work in HR so it's either manic or quiet - no in-between.

Any bad experiences on MumsNet?

None to worrying because I have think skin and usually prefer threads like this rather than AIBU

I post on the feminist threads sometimes under a different name and along with my GC sisters on there get called all manner of β€˜phobic’ at times - which only reinforces and confirms the views I already have.

I also once gave some fairly generic advice in my capacity as a Social worker where the OP clearly hasn’t wanted to hear a professional pragmatic view and then went on to send lots of abusive personal direct messages over about three days. Oh well
lol!

Nothing nasty. The occasional wry comment.

I try to keep on the light-hearted side of things. I try to anyway!

Not struck on the 'ghosting' element though... πŸ₯΄

How do you make big life decisions? Pro's and Con's? Gut instinct? Just go for it?

Now - very much pros and cons and think with my head - but I definitely do let my gut feed into the pro/con approach - however no rash decisions

When I was in my early 20’s, however, I made rash , crazy decisions that shaped (for better or for worse) the course of my life. My daughter is similar to I was -man I wish I could put my β€˜now’ head on her shoulders!

β€˜The Ghosting element’??

biggest fail ?
biggest win?

MudandMoet · 17/08/2026 21:53

Biggest win…. Finally managed to have my second child at almost 45 (won’t bore you with the details and understand for some that’s a fail, however I feel incredibly lucky and fortunate!)

Biggest fail…. Leaving the legal career I started when I married my first husband because he didn’t want me to work and I was young and stupid.

Any baby is a gift. I really don't understand it when people can't be happy about that. Congratulations!

I like Smooth radio - it's always on in the background as I don't watch a lot of TV.
