it’s Jeffery Sachs (sp?) saying how dangerous Trump is. I take it he has some clout? The two guys either side of him seem to be enjoying it anyway 😁

To say Natalie is deranged is being kind. She appears to be in the throes of a long lasting psychosis. ( I am not a doctor)

Ooooh, maybe she'll go all Annie Wilkes on Scrotus.

I don't know exactly what it means. It sounds like they're saying "We aren't saying his EO was legal, but we are saying the states don't have the legal right to challenge it". WTF? Hopefully the pundits will make the ruling more clear to us hoi polloi and explain exactly what it means for mail in voters.

Supreme Court sides with Trump administration on mail voting restrictions ahead of midterms

The Supreme Court is siding with the Trump administration in a case over President Donald Trump’s executive order restricting mail-in voting, though it remains unclear how much can be implemented before the fast-approaching midterm elections.

Bessent has finished his Economic D-Day briefing which was full of threats but a tad lacking in detail.
I'm going to stand back and watch whan happens next. Especially with China and Pakistan. Trump has been busy phoning world leaders to ask them to join his pack. In the spirit of WW2 D-Day. Allies banding together against the common enemy... or else.

I just posted on the Iran war thread about this. I have not even read the news yet, but just going through the posts there ,WTO was going through my head.

He can't publish details, because in dark paper filled rooms around the world there will be trade experts sat with their pen poised above the " World Trade Organization Complaint Forum 101". Or whatever it is called.

Now, so far as what the WTO rules are, I have no idea. It is all well beyond my ability.

WTO | WTO legal texts

I reckon if Printer girl was to print out the WTO rulebook, she would need a bigger printer. And what a mighty tome that would be to be thrown at Bessent's head.

I am not advocating for political violence here, using a figure of speech.

Mental illness on May's part? Or Yoko's?

I was always under the impression that Yoko encouraged (pushed?) her into her involvement with John. But my info is decades old.

No, sorry - meant on Natalie's part. My opinion is that her motive isn't so much this, below, but more that she's mentally ill.

She's sucking up to Scrotus because he is powerful. If he were to become 'no longer powerful' 🙏🏼 I think she'd drop him like a bag full of dog shit.

I've enjoyed watching the BBC Verify piece on the 'All American' Trump phone.

Seems this MAGA miracle isn't all it seems - no real surprise there. Such is the debacle that a fully signed up MAGA groupie has taken to SM shout where's my F**KING Phone!' having paid deposits for four over a year ago. As months have gone by since Trump's offspring announced the project the small print has changed time and again, first weakening and then effectively destroying any claims it is a US phone. The initial deposit was $100 and though the number of deposits taken is unknown it's felt tens of millions of dollars have been banked, while the delivery date got pushed back and back.

They have started to be delivered but there's very little about them that's US and the reviews have been scathing - it's effectively an overpriced clone. Trump's sons no longer seem to be involved and the licence to use the Trump name has yielded no income for Donald - shame.

Thing is no matter what the Trump's say it's very difficult to distance yourself from a turkey that has their name all over it. Well unless you sue them I guess

More on the postal vote 'decision' (from NYT)

A divided Supreme Court on Monday allowed the Trump administration to move forward with plans to restrict mail-in voting before the midterm elections.
In an emergency opinion, the justices said President Trump could proceed with implementing an executive order he had signed, which directed the U.S. Postal Service to help decide which voters should receive mail-in ballots. Under the executive order, the Department of Homeland Security will also create lists of U.S. citizens that the administration believes could be used to monitor voter rolls for noncitizens.
The decision means the administration can move ahead with planning for restricting the use of mail ballots even as a lower court continues to weigh the legality of Mr. Trump’s executive order. But with a little more than two months until Election Day — and considerably less time before early voting begins in many states — it remains unclear whether the White House’s rules will be in effect for a midterm election in which control of both chambers is at stake. Additional legal action is a near certainty with the plan’s fate not yet final.
A separate injunction by the same lower court complicates matters. That court action prevents the postal service from implementing some parts of the executive order. That case could also soon be headed to the justices.
...
Monday’s order from the Supreme Court was unsigned, as is typical in such emergency rulings. The majority wrote that it agreed with the government’s argument that it should be able to move forward with its plans, finding that the Trump administration was “likely to suffer irreparable harm” unless the justices lifted a freeze that had been imposed by lower courts.
The three liberal justices dissented, with Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson warning that the majority “needlessly injects chaos and uncertainty into the upcoming midterm elections.”
The majority said the states that challenged the president’s order could not demonstrate that they were sufficiently harmed by voting rules that had not yet taken effect. The justices cautioned that their order was preliminary and not a final decision about whether the administration’s order “will necessarily be lawful” once the plans are complete. “On that score, time will tell,” the majority said in the 10-page, unsigned order.

I think we can maybe squeeze the latest Sky News headline into this kilt thing.

"Canadian Politician threatens to cut off electricity to the US"

If Trump wore a kilt he could head up when the lights go out and show everyone if the sun really does shine from there :-)

How about a bit of carry on to go with this ?

He's a clown, but unfortunately a very powerful one.

How many of the new names of his renamed geographical features have been adopted by the international community, as opposed to by his cronies?

Still, there is precedent: the English speak of the English Channel and the French of La Manche. The Americans can call the lake one thing and the Canadians another if the Americans want to look extremely silly.
