Donald Trump has again threatened to bomb Oman if it “gets in the way” of his effort to end the US-Israel war on Iran.
“If Oman gets in the way, we’ll bomb the shit out of them,” Trump told Fox News on Monday, the second time he has directed such a threat at Muscat, a longtime US strategic partner that has traditionally served as a key backchannel between Washington and Tehran.
The US president delivered the threat as he struggles to draw the conflict to a conclusion, almost six months after it was launched, and as a diplomatic window agreed with Tehran ran out with no final agreement in sight. But Trump also claimed during Monday’s interview that he is “not in a hurry” to reach a deal.
That two-month window for a negotiated settlement closed on Monday without a breakthrough. Trump has repeatedly claimed the war would end “soon”, and talked up the prospect of a lasting peace deal in recent months, without such a breakthrough materializing.

It's a shame most Americans (still) haven't yet worked out where Trump has taken them. There are still hi-NRG type people spouting the same nonsense about "wait till the midterms" and "the constitution" and other such comforting phrases as the train hurtles on to it's sorry destination.

Those that have worked it out have already "left the jurisdiction".

Oman being a successful Middle Eastern country that is surprisingly not a human rights black hole OR suffering the costs of repeated US and allies "liberations" in the past. So of course that is an aberration that needs to be remedied.

On the (very small) plus side, this summer I have, for the first time, yet to see a MAGA hat or a Trump lawn sign.

Jeremy Bowen (journalist) is of the view Trump has backed himself into a corner by starting his unnecessary war with Iran and has really exhausted his options now. Is this why the lunatic is threatening Oman - that he's realised he's bitten off more than he can chew?

I hadn't thought about it but you're right. Same with all the 'Trump trucks' with flags a flyin' I used to see cruising around. Nor have any GOP primary candidates 'round these parts' trumpeted (pun intended) about how MAGA they are. The Trumpiest of Trumpy HOR legislators in my (former) district actually went 'independent' before the primary, but I think that was mostly due to redistricting.

And I noticed that Scrotus didn't make as many endorsements during the primaries as he usually does. Can't decide if he hasn't because so many he's endorsed in the past couple of primaries and elections have ended up losing or because he's entered 'Dubya Territory' where candidates are praying he doesn't endorse him because he's so unpopular.

We're now 79 days until the midterms and most of the primaries are done. I think there are just 3 left. We'll see if he ramps up endorsements now that he doesn't have to choose between two GOPs running against each other for the nomination. It's GOP vs Dem now so he's 'safe' to endorse the GOP candidate.

I'm hoping their decision in this, the lowest money case, isn't a bone they're throwing to Ms Carroll and the American Public to prove how 'independent' from Scrotus they are. The higher dollar case is still working its way through the higher courts. The SCOTUS decision on that case will tell us the truth about how independent they really are.
