Is it possible to have a good day out at Legoland in the summer holidays?

We have never been, had planned to bunk off school for a day last month but couldnt quite bring myself to do it.

Im so worried about going and it being a let down for dc due to the busyness/queues. Is there plenty to do aside from rides for 9 and 10 yr olds?

A well known review says not, unless you like wasps and queuing.

Op all of the UK parks are a struggle and not great value for money.
Legoland is low key fun rides are v short lived as well and large q.

Can you take them aboard at all ?

I'd go in mid September when schools are back.

Yes but you need to use tactics.

eg get there early, have a plan, take a picnic.

we went on inset days usually

My husband and daughter love lego but we were very underwhelmed. Felt very tired and dated, long ques and very expensive. We wont go again

We went on the 18/6/26, yes there are queues but things to do too, the mini village and a small splash park, so take a towel and swimwear.

Use the Legoland app, prepay parking and get there early.

I inadvertently went on a day when it was sold out. You really have to bite the bullet and pay for one of the upgraded queuing options or passes to have a semi enjoyable day or you will just spend the day miserable in queues. I paid for virtual queuing and we did the stuff that had less wait times whilst "queuing". I wouldn't say it was good value but the day would have been grim otherwise.

We’ve been a few times but have paid extra for the virtual queuing - honestly I think we would have had a shit time without it. We’ve always tried to get discounted tickets to help justify the hit of the extra cost of virtual queuing. We’ve been three times, twice during school hols and once on an INSET day which was definitely better.

In short, no, it’s not possible. It’s fucking awful.

We enjoyed, queue to leave the car park was insane, so park near the exit even if that means a longer walk to get in.

Yes, everyone goes early and so start leaving hours before it closes. You can get on the rides with short queues in the last hour or so.

It’s a day of queues. Either embrace that or don’t go. Personally I’m overjoyed our theme park era is over

We dont have inset days sadly.

We went late July a few years ago. It was ok but when you consider the longggg ques and how much you get to actually ride and see it’s not worth the price. Also prepare for a LOT of wasps! I wouldn’t rush back, if I did it would be a bunk off day or inset day when quieter.

Just a warning too that everyone now knows inset days are quieter, so much so that they no longer are! We went on an inset day last year and it was sold out.

We queued for hours to get in, loads of things were broken or very tired, queued for over an hour to leave. It was a shit day out. We managed to go on two rides, so not worth the bother! We did a day trip the Danish one which was brill. Overnight ferry, day there, overnight ferry back. A bit of an adventure and with some voucher scheming not much more expensive for a superior experience.

If you want to have a good day

Take a picnic
Get there early
Buy fastpasses

Expect to be disappointed.

These places are a special sort of hell in the school holidays. I'm glad my children are now adults so I no longer have to endure.

We went over a weekend once. Day one nice weather, awful day, barely got to go on anything for all the queuing. Day 2 raining, had the place to ourselves.

Legoland is awful in my opinion. Overcrowded, run down, low thrill rides, over priced.

Go for one of their Christmas events instead. Most of the rides are open and they do make it look nice and in ten years of going I’ve never really queued for anything. Summer is hell. We always go at the weekend as well so don’t take them out of school. Miniland look lovely all lit up!

Legoland is the only one that we bunk off to go to. It can be truly awful at peak times.

I took my kids in the summer when they were primary school age. I’m
not exaggerating when I say it was the single worst day I ever spent with the kids.

Queued for well over an hour for every ride which only lasted a few minutes.

Everyone was hot and completely miserable, lots of tears and boredom.

Never felt so exploited. Never went back.
