Is it possible to have a good day out at Legoland in the summer holidays?

We have never been, had planned to bunk off school for a day last month but couldnt quite bring myself to do it.

Im so worried about going and it being a let down for dc due to the busyness/queues. Is there plenty to do aside from rides for 9 and 10 yr olds?

@MamaK19 Ahh we last went some years ago (my daughter is now 16 😂) so the fast passes may have changed. I will have a look for you. Honestly it used to be amazing as a day out with little kids when we used to go - quite magical. Hope it hasn't changed 😬 Almost all the rides were geared towards younger kids.

Went three years ago in June during a weekday (took DS out of school as he’d missed the school residential to London). It was busy as full of school trips! Was a warm day but the splash park wasn’t open. Went on the log flume and it malfunctioned so we had to get off (were on the river bit before the lift hill). They didn’t even give us fast passes to go back on later in the day, which would have been a nice gesture. Expensive food, queues, seriously don't bother!

@MamaK19 Ah they changed the fast pass system. It's now £15 pp for 3 rides and £29 pp for 6 rides (but not all rides - it says on their website which ones). Sorry, this is much crappier than the unlimited fast passes they had in the past.

Aw thanks for checking for me, I am tempted at this point to get the 6 ride pass but would be an extra £150 for our dates 😫

Go to Paultons park instead. No ridiculous fast pass system, much fairer, queues aren’t nearly as long.

Abouteffingtime · 05/08/2026 09:32

@Zapx I looked at Paultons again, it does look great. Long way from me so would need at least a couple of nights to make it worth the drive (for me anyway!)

I refused to go again after last time we went - absolutely heaving and all the rides are really slow to load people on and off so you end up waiting for ages for everything like it’s a little fair instead of a supposedly established theme park. We went a fair bit about ten years ago and it was fine so I’m not sure what changed exactly, perhaps they increased ticket sales without increasing capacity.

We’ve been to the one in Bilund in early August and we went on everything we wanted to and had a great day. We stayed in the Legoland hotel and I think it worked out the same or cheaper than staying off site at Windsor. We also went to Lego house.

I’ve decided I only want to go to Disneyland Paris if we’re going to a theme park. Yes it’s expensive but we go on lots of rides which are generally superior, the shows and parades are great and the food is edible. Spending 1/2 the money to go to a shitty uk theme park is more of a waste imho. Luckily the eldest dc gets to go to Alton towers with school during term time and the youngest likes the free fairground at Butlin’s so I’m safe for now 😅

We went on a Friday and Saturday in mid June and had a wonderful time. The longest we queued was about half an hour and most were far shorter. My daughter is seven and loved it all, as did I - we went last year too. We saved some of the non ride activities for the Saturday (insider clubhouse, miniland, ferrari build and race) and took a picnic/snacks to eat in the queues.

We are planning to go to Plopsaland when we are in Belgium in a couple of weeks (their schools go back in mid August) so it will be interesting to see how it compares.

I think it’s possible without paying for fast pass but you have to stay at the hotel. You get into the bottom of the park early so it’s empty and then work your way up slowly as everyone is making way down. So you are swapping places. Likewise on the way back. Get to the bottom and you will see it’s pretty much empty 30 mins from closing time.

The middle of the day you are not going to get much done. I refuse to queue more than 15 with young kids. So do the play areas, look at Lego village and do the build experiences. Lunch etc.
