Keep seeping so many grey blending videos and can’t tell if that’s just my algorithm or it’s actaully getting more popular

I first started getting grey hairs during my 20’s. During Covid I stopped dyeing it. I was 60. My hair is completely white and I get lots of compliments about it.

ForPearlViper · 19/07/2026 22:49

59 and regretful I didn't do it sooner.

Fannyannie · 19/07/2026 22:53

Just had last colour at hairdressers . Nearly fainted as it was £170 !!!!!!!!!! Chat gbt assured me my natural silver would suit me as a soft summer. So , here we go. I’m going to have regular cut to keep a sharp above shoulder bob. I’m not completely silver yet so it will be interesting. I’m 59

The stroppy side of me thinks why the fuck is it ok for men never to dye their hair , why are we all so conditioned & pressured into it ???

TheBluntSeal · 19/07/2026 23:00

At about 25 when the first white streaks started at my temples. I've done the odd wash-in/wash-out colour in my 20s and 30s but I've not bothered, mostly as I know I wouldn't keep on top of the retouches and because I have better thongs to spend money on.

It went slowly white from the front, and 5-10 years ago I'd get told my highlights looked natural and asked who did them. 'Mother Nature'. These days I'm white at the front, golden blonde at the back and a mixture between (mid-50s).

TeenLifeMum · 19/07/2026 23:04

Lady I manage went grey during Covid (stopped dying it). It dies suit her but I was shocked to learn she’s only one year older than me. I honestly thought she was early 50s. I think it is aging before 50. I plan to avoid it until I’m 60s earliest.

FunPreventionOfficer · 19/07/2026 23:15

2014 age 43

ChaToilLeam · 19/07/2026 23:17

At 49. Planned to do it at 50 but covid brought it forward. It's great, I get so many compliments on the silver colour.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 19/07/2026 23:18

Almost 60 and will be going to the hairdresser for the foreseeable. I’m very fair and would just fade away if I went grey.

FunPreventionOfficer · 19/07/2026 23:19

I previously saw this on here.

What age did you decide to embrace your grey ?
Yellowcakestand · 19/07/2026 23:19
  1. Two years on still growing out bleach but in such a better condition.
Plot30B · 19/07/2026 23:22

I'm 58, haven't dyed my hair since my teens and still only have maybe 10% grey. I've no idea why because my parents, aunts, etc were all grey by 40. I love my natural hair colour of dark chestnut brown, even with it's sprinkling of greys and I quite like grey hair, so I'll probably never dye it.

My DH (56) has minimal grey hairs too, so maybe it's our onion, garlic and veg dense meals. Who knows?

Bamboozled5 · 19/07/2026 23:49

I’m 59, my natural colour was red, it has basically just lost colour to be a drab non-colour (but not grey or white!). I’ve also lost over half of it to alopecia. I chose to wear a wig over 10 years ago due to hair loss and not needing to worry about dyeing my hair seems to be one of the main plus points!

Genetics

Yes, thanks, you're probably right.

I'm 70 and still haven't embraced the grey. 😁

Over 20 years ago my hairdresser made a mistake with my colour and I ended up looking like a witch for an important business conference. After this I decided to teach myself to colour and started off slowly with semi permanent so I could wash out easily if it went wrong.

I now consider myself a bit of an expert - even my now hairdresser comments positively about my colour - and will hopefully live to a 100 and still be a brunette. 😂

I'm the same age and lucky enough to be a red head with blonde highlights 😂 I won't be going grey

worldsgonemadnow · 20/07/2026 00:12

Age 40. All the dye was gone in around 8 weeks. I cut it very short and my hair grows really fast. Went from really dark, almost black, which was my natural colour, to pure white! Love it white and get loads of compliments. It started going gray when I was 17.

Neolara · 20/07/2026 00:20
  1. I'm 9 months into cold turkey and next cut I think most of my dyed hair will be gone.
doobopdeboo · 20/07/2026 00:30

48 after dying my hair for years as I got grey hairs from my early 20s. I’ll never “love it” because I really miss my dark hair. But it’s quite a cool colour, pretty even, does suit my skin tone and I feel quite liberated by it. I have had a lot of genuine compliments about it which I do appreciate.

Butterflysunshine01 · 20/07/2026 08:06

32 and genetics have given me very thick long hair that started greying at 17! I used to dye it my natural dark brown but now I’ve been gradually going lighter with full head highlights. No dark dye for almost a year so now I’m a caramel colour with my natural grey/some brown coming through. Loving the grey coming through as it matches up with the highlights. Soon I’ll cut it a bit shorter and I’ll just continue to get sporadic highlights to blend it in. Absolutely love not have to dye it every three weeks at the roots! My hair grows so quickly.

Mydogisagentleman · 20/07/2026 08:21

I can't remember the last time I dyed my hair.
It's probably 80% white, the rest is dark brown.
My DD suggested putting a purple or burgundy rinse on it, but I fear looking like an eastern European dinner lady.

AImportantMermaid · 20/07/2026 08:25

I did it during COVID and my hair wasn’t grey enough so it just looked faded and tired. I started dyeing it a few years ago and it suits me much better. I’m 58 now and I’ll keep at it for another few years. I’ll probably stop when I retire.

Rocknrollstar · 20/07/2026 09:40

I started colouring my hair in my 30s. I thought I would let the colour grow out in Covid but it really didn’t suit me and was quite a shock so I’m in my 70s and still dying my hair. I remember in my 40s that my MiL commented on my not having grey hair like my SiL and I just said it was genetic.

Malasana · 20/07/2026 10:30

55 and I love it.

It’s a bit shitty to call it witchy!

To those who thinks it makes us look old, we are the age we are and I feel lucky I’ve lived long enough for my hair to start to go grey. Many don’t. In any case, age isn’t actually anything to be ashamed of.

It’s such double standards that men get called silver fox or distinguished and women are described as looking old (and witchy!).

MargaretMeldrew · 20/07/2026 10:42

The stroppy side of me thinks why the fuck is it ok for men never to dye their hair , why are we all so conditioned & pressured into it ???

This annoys me too. The pressure on women to look younger is ridiculous. And women criticising other women for looking old/terrible/washed out/witchy. Accusing them of ‘letting themselves go.’ There’s a handful of negative remarks on this very thread. We are so used to women dyeing their hair, spending all that money and putting all that effort in that we’ve forgotten what normal aging looks like. As far as I’m concerned, if women want to keep dyeing their hair until they’re 100, good on them. I won’t judge. But please don’t judge me.

I bumped into my neighbour the other day when I was coming back from a run. She commented that I looked younger. I couldn’t think why. Fresh glow from puffing my way along the towpath? Then when I got into the house, I realised it was because I was wearing a running cap and it covered my grey hair. Same face though🤣🤣🤣 I don’t care about looking younger, but it was interesting to me that she immediately saw my face differently when my hair wasn’t visible. I’m still not going back to colouring it. Life’s too short. And I bloody hate the hairdresser’s!

DaphneduM · 20/07/2026 10:43

I stopped getting my hair dyed blonde when I was in my mid sixties during covid. I'm fine with it - when I look at comparative pictures when I was blonde, I realise actually the silver grey suits my skin tone better. I do wear makeup, have a mid-length hairstyle and wear fashionable clothes. I'm happy with my grey hair, and also glad not to have toxic dyes on my scalp. My identity rests on a lot more than the colour of my hair!

We aren’t , you maybe are but there are lots of women who never dye their hair or feel the pressure to do so .
