What age did you decide to embrace your grey ?

Keep seeping so many grey blending videos and can’t tell if that’s just my algorithm or it’s actaully getting more popular

I tried it at 50 and rapidly returned to dye. It looked appalling on me, corroborated by friends and family, though I love it on other people.

At 35 when I started reacting to hair dye. Amazingly my formerly mousey hair has morphed into ice blonde. I love it. As my hairdresser tells me "you are blessed" 😊

Over 60 - only grey underneath at the sides. I colour it underneath and have a few highlights. I do this about 3 times a year. I'm slowly getting a bit more grey but it's been very slow. My mother and grandmother were the same

I have considered it but it’s sooooo expensive and it feels like a waste of money. Still weighing it up!

43 I just can't think it's so aging sil is 10 years older and has witchy grey hair. family funeral recently and everyone kept asking was I her daughter. she got a toner over it for our wedding a few years ago took years off her. it takes a lot of work to pull of grey successfully. I can maybe getting roots done every 2 months thank god

During covid I stopped having highlights and realised I had no greys and that my natural colour was actually beautiful I was 44 then, now I'm 50 I have a few greys, my hairdresser reckons I'm about 2% grey and they are just in a streak, I quite like it.

However I am thinking of getting a colour free glossing treatment, my hair is straight and fine but I have lots of it - does anyone have experience of glossing and does it make your hair dry? Mine is currently in good condition and I would be annoyed if it ruined that.

Mid 30’s. I do miss having dark hair but colouring it every few weeks just wasn’t working. It’s in lovely condition now and I’ve been very lucky that it’s white grey streaks so I get asked if it’s natural a lot.
I do have to get regular trims so I don’t look like dumbledore though.

That’s two posters now who have talked about having ‘witchy hair’ as a bad thing.

I’m 41 and I’ve started getting the odd grey. I already colour it and will never stop unless I’m riddled with dementia in a care home. I think it looks bad on most people.

1. Got fed up of the grey poking through after a couple of weeks. Now 58 and around 50-60% grey. I have days whe I wish it wasn't, but going back to brunette would be ageing I think (I do think fake brown looks fake) and blonde looks awful on me, so grey it is!

I am 48 and have never dyed my hair. It is starting to go white at my temples and I am trying to hold my nerve and not dye it🫣.

My hairdresser says she had loads of clients who regret starting but I am not sure how long I will hold out

During lockdown I decided to cut it all off leaving about an inch all over. It was such a relief to be done with the expensive colouring. I started going grey very young and did box dyes for years after henna stopped covering the grey hairs. Then got it professionally coloured and highlighted for years on end. I don't suit blonde highlights and brown hair looked wrong. I do think the grey has aged me a lot but the relief of not having roots after two weeks and all the expense and time involved in colouring it is worth it. I was 60 when I did it .

I've just finally grown it all out at 47

I’m starting to go grey now. Have never coloured my hair and don’t plan on starting

48 I think. I’m quite blonde anyway, so I just stopped highlighting / dying it. First time the greys grew in it looked awful, so I dyed the whole thing blonde again and waited another year. The next time it grew out, the grey was a much nicer colour, and now at 54 I really like it - it’s bright silvery white round my face and looks ash blonde / silver streaks elsewhere. I don’t dye it at all now, occasionally use a purple shampoo, and get lots of compliments on the colour.

Never colored, and love it. Greypride, all the way! I decided not to give in to the tyranny of perpetual youth and I reject the the narrative that women should be valued for their youthful appearance rather than for their wit, intellect, charm, vibrancy. I love being middle aged - it is so liberating!

32 - I don't have massives of grey hair (43) but I CBA to dye my hair, I just go with it!

Keeping mine at bay with a funky colour right now ...

I’m another one who grew it out during covid and a few years of WFH, started age 53.

i tried for a while grey highlights to balance out darker hair at the back but it just looked yellow toned next to the silver no matter what they did so letting that grow out now.

I was 53 and wish I’d done it sooner. My hair was black when I was young and started going properly grey in my twenties, although I was finding the odd strand in my teens. When I finally grew it out, it was about 90% grey. Quite a shock. But I loved it and honestly never had so many people ask about and compliment my hair. Admittedly that did give me a boost and helped me to resist going back to dyeing it.

Same!! I look so much older when my greys come through & im not even that grey yet (mid 50s). Maybe when im 70 I’ll think about it.

45. I had long hair before and could hide the greys by tying it back. Then I had a short style and there was no hiding it. Can't be bothered to dye it enough to keep on top of it.
