Seven PMs in 10 years, what's gone wrong with the UK?

As an outsider, it's kind of fascinating to watch. The PMs span both parties, so you can't really blame one party or another. What's the problem guys?

Because it was impossible to deliver.

That, and no planning, and no real expectation by Cameron that the vote wouldn't go his way.

Just to be clear, nothing has changed in that assertion.

Brexit was, is, and will always be impossible to deliver.

As proof I will note that the UK has not "remained a member of the European Union", and no one is happy. And those that are can't explain why.

All very fair points about Brexit.

But it’s not a reason to wheel out for everything from discontent in the Labour Party to fungal toe nails.

I voted Remain.

The 24hr news cycle leads to a pressure for quick results (everything should happen in an eye blink) but it takes any party a good 10 yrs to make substantial change, which our voting cycle does not allow

People get angry thst reforms are improving their way of life and throw in media populism

The single most dangerous individual in politics today IMO is Farage. He is self serving and devisive - brexit has made us all substantially poorer and resulted in many businesses unable to survive or grow so the economy is weakened

I heard a podcast recently that had looked back on political history and in fact the abnormal years were those of long and stable govts: Thatcher, Blair - the cutthroat short term savagery we are witnessing is actually normal for British politics

That's worth a ponder eh!

Because we don't have any strong politicians.

Brexit brought the whole house of cards down. As would any asinine irregular referendum that produced such a useless result.

If the question had been "Do you like marmite", the UK would still have got through as many PMs as each tried to grapple with getting the two sides to agree in order to get the country moving forwards.

Everyone wants ridiculous unobtainable instant results.

If you want people off benefits then you are going to have to create jobs (it’s a wasteland where I am), you are going to have to make companies actually support disabled people and parents to work. You will have to sort out public transport so people can get to jobs. There’s little interest in this though.

Anyone who needs the Supreme Court to tell them what a woman is, is not intelligent in my opinion. He will he remembered for that.

I think we need a PM who can stand firm when the DM, Twitter,Elon, Trumpetytrump, the backbenchers whinge and squeal - I know everyone hated Maggie thatcher but she was tough. This oooh dear the pensioners don’t like having winter fuel allowance removed - just get a grip and stand firm - I’m a pensioner and it was hilarious that I got WFA to put towards my massive oil fired aga bill each winter. I was happy to see it go but no one asked me -they just ran scuttling to change it.

Shamama Mahmoud has kicked ass over Immigration-at last - the first home sec to do anything since Blair opened the borders in 2003- but still the back benchers are bleating and it will probably all get chucked out when the next wimp takes her place.

Switch off Twitter, ignore the headlines - grow the F up and sort out the mess.

I would respectfully suggest that's all very nice. But wasted in a system with negative fiscal gravity where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. The UK has more wealth than ever before. So what's gone wrong ?

Note, total wealth has nothing to do with GDP.

If you whisper it, that was what people thought they were trying to reverse with Brexit.

I don’t want to rejoin the eu and have free movement. We will overwhelmed by their recent immigrants who want free education and healthcare and if they have a family will be entitled to housing - things they won’t get so easily in Europe.

The UK is almost the only country in Europe with a first past the post system, of those that have democracy. All the others need an element of cross-party co-operation.

With the decreasing birth rate , there won't be a lack of school places.

And immigrants don't get free healthcare, houses or benefits on arrival.

Labour MPs turned on Starmer because they needed a scapegoat for why their party had become so unpopular. If they hadn’t done that he’d still be the PM, so, no it was not the people who got rid of him.

So they try to make the economy grow despite all this, and fail.

Labou has the additional problem that they hate half of their voters (the Brexiteer working class).

Really? Because the trans thing isn't actually that high on most people's radar. It's top priority for about 2% of voters at the moment. Starmer will be remembered for standing up to Trump and for building much needed closer economic ties with the EU.

The immigrants won’t be arriving they’ll already be here (ie in an EU country because I was talking about freedom of movement if we rejoin) so will be entitled to everything unless laws change. Some Irish are complaining about the number of immigrants from the EU which they can do nothing about.

Really? Of course he won't, he's one of the weakest PMs we've ever had.
