If Count Binface wins, would he be allowed into the House of Commons?

I was just wondering, if he refused to take the bin off to get in through security, would he actually be allowed to physically enter parliament?🤔

The full getup would probably be classified as a suit of armour which would be illegal. He could create an adapted version that meets parliamentary rules using some of the £98,599 basic annual salary he will receive. For voting, while covid-type face masks are allowed he will need to have enough of his face visible for the tellers to be able to clearly identify him. Some kind of smaller more lightweight bin with a removable face plate might work.

@DosPerroshe’d need to be allowed in of course but that doesn’t mean they need to let him in with a bin covering his whole head/ face. Surely he’d need to meet some form of dress code to be allowed in is my point?

I’m not sure this is true. The conventions state that it’s not generally appropriate to wear headwear. There are exceptions and in fact this used to be used to distinguish between types of intervention because members would put on their hat to make their intention clear to the Speaker. Regardless, this isn’t a hat: the clue is in the name! Binface. There’s no convention requiring members to remove their face.

Can they really tell Binface what constitutes “formal attire” on Sigma IX? He is dressed in his military uniform as an intergalactic space warrior, and military uniform is generally considered to be formal attire.

I doubt they’d have much difficulty in identifying him and not mistaking him for one of the other MPs.

Not good enough - an impostor could easily steal or replicate the regalia and sneak a fraudulent vote.

I want Count Binface to win but it seems like Nigel is riding off the back of a terrible tragedy, to try and validate himself and make his acceptance of 5 million for ‘security’ credible.

He won’t win and is s scandal that he is allowed to stand and make a mockery of a serious process. The system need to be changed to make the deposit much higher and only registered political parties allowed to offer a candidate

It wouldn't have been so hilarious when he was actually expected to do the job. A job he never in his wildest dreams thought he'd ever have to do, or ever had any intention of doing.

Have a feeling if Count Binface wins he will take the job seriously and do his best to actually make a difference in Clacton. Can’t see him jetting off to Washington or the Maldives etc and meeting up with the likes of Trump (although I’d LOVE to see that interaction!)

I’m sure that he’s said that if he won, he’d move to Clacton and take up his seat - without the Binface get up, presumably.

The House of Commons writes it's own rules (something about parliament being supreme). So it's up to them.
