Yes we are! Staying in S'Algar, which is a quiet place. Off to Mahon later today but sadly coming home on Thursday.

Have a fabulous time, we stayed in S’Algar a few years ago at the Xuroy hotel such a pretty place if you haven’t visited Mahon before it’s well worth a visit lots to see the gin is really good.

The police may as well save their breath @placemats Farage and co. are busy exploiting Ann's murder, as are all the SM platforms which are allowing wild speculation. It is a very sad indictment of where we are at.

dontcallmelen · 13/07/2026 09:07

I suspect Farage is busily trying to link AW awful murder that his 5million was now for security rather than a “gift/getting brexit done/ etc etc …… such opportunistic despicable behaviour.

That is definitely his game and posters on MN have been pushing that narrative too.

DuncinToffee · 13/07/2026 09:20

Still doesn't explain why he didn't declare it or why he is running scared of the Standards Commission.

All the Reform MPs are singing from that hymn sheet. Poor little Richard Tice is barely able to put his nose out of his front door apparently. I’m sure Diane Abbott’s heart is breaking for him.

Isabel is fine with demonisation of Muslim people, but any criticism of her husband-to-be's behaviour and its 😢

Surely the answer is simple - don’t exploit someone else’s death.

From the DT. Reform are shameless.

Senior Labour backbenchers will this week seek to cap political donations at either £1m or £100,000 when the Government’s flagship elections bill returns to the Commons.

Nigel Farage’s party claimed that such a move would leave it without the funds necessary to provide security for its eight MPs.

A Reform source said: “If Labour MPs pass these amendments, it will ensure that Reform MPs are left without security, as none is currently provided by the state and is paid for by the party – which is funded by donors.

“Labour MPs will be voting to put the lives of Reform politicians in danger, less than a week after the murder of a Reform politician.”

This of course hinges on people not knowing that security is provided through government funds. And if Reform are arguing that they need more than other MPs, they should reflect on why that might be.

I was thinking summer recess soon so Tice can swap sunny Skegness for Dubai, but there is the by-election.

So how long before they declare Clacton unsafe for campaigning?

Or say it’s unfair because Binface is wearing armour.

It's interesting that the Mayoral election in Manchester isn't mentioned once on this thread.

I mean you're hardly a beacon of intelligence to support Reform, and their representatives do little to contradict that observation. But it's hard not to feel a pang of sympathy for the poor candidate who has been left high and dry. I hope they didn't put any of their own money into the venture.

It’s just another way in which this ridiculous by-election is an own goal, isn’t it? I imagine the candidate was expecting all the Reform big guns to be wheeled out, now they’re either in Clacton or too frit to go anywhere.

DuncinToffee · 13/07/2026 10:35

All I have seen about the Mayoral election is the list of candidates but I haven't searched for more.

I did read a couple of posts querying whether a man would have been dumped quite so fast (or would have stood for it so easily).

This is one of the hottest political threads in normal(ish) land.

If we aren't talking about it, nobody is.

And a Reform failure in Manchester will only make Clacton that much harder, as the 3rd wheel comes off the bus.

E2A: I idly wonder what the latest date would be for Farage to pull out of the by election with a claim that winning would be a death sentence for him because of lax security ? If you want a laugh, post that question into ChatGPT and then ask what the signalling might be before that happened.

placemats · 13/07/2026 10:42

Reform UK is now realising that they can no longer win any election, by or mayoral and are despicably using the killing of Ann Widdecombe as an excuse.
