How do you make your banana sandwich??

JohnnieFedora · 05/07/2026 14:22

How do you do yours...? Do you slice/chop your banana or mash it up in the sandwich?

Me.
White bread, butter, mash it on.

Sometimes have it with other fillings - like peanut butter, Marmite, Nutella.

But always white bread.

I don't mind mixing sweet and savoury, but I know that's not for everyone!

Any other good ones I'm missing out on?

Are they really a thing?

@howthedayended what is this about grated banana skin?! I may have been missing out - do you grate the inside? Or outside ? Never heard of this before - I do love bananas tough.

She said she threw it away
.
So I don't think the grating is a real thing!

No, we're all just pretending 😏

AnonSugar · 05/07/2026 15:52

Mashed banana 🤢
Mine is perfectly sliced and laid out in rows 😆

pasanda · 05/07/2026 15:56

Squidgy white bread (has to be squidgy and fresh!), butter and mashed up banana.
love it!!

FeliciaFancybottom · 05/07/2026 15:57

I once convinced my mum that I needed a banana sandwich, as everyone at school was talking about them and I was the only one who'd never had one, I threw up after one mouthful. The combination of the slimy banana and the bread just made me gag. Never again, bananas are Satan's sandwich filling.

TheIncredibleBookEatingManchot · 05/07/2026 15:58

Wholemeal bread, banana sliced lengthways. Lots of thickest honey.

SurleyTurnip · 05/07/2026 15:59

White bread toast, sliced banana and a sprinkle of sugar. This would be the only occasion where I butter the toast when it is still hot.

henlake7 · 05/07/2026 16:00

wholemeal bread, sliced banana, nut butter and loads of cinnamon.

Happiestathome · 05/07/2026 16:01

Sliced banana, butter and only ever on white bread. Delicious!

smallgreenandsplitthreeways · 05/07/2026 16:03

late autumn, winter and early spring: lightly toasted buttered sourdough, mashed banana with a pinch on cinnamon, cardamom and ginger.
late spring, summer early autumn: toasted bagel, lightly drizzled honey, mashed banana and avocado.

bestcatlife · 05/07/2026 16:04

Have this at least once a week, and seem to crave it when I’m ill, it must be my comfort food. Toasted wholemeal with butter, peanut butter and slice banana on top with drizzle of honey. If ill - leave the peanut butter and honey out and just have banana and butter. Always eaten with a knife and fork 😄
I need some cinnamon, that would elevate it

Jellycatspyjamas · 05/07/2026 16:04

Toasted bread, butter and banana mashed with a touch of cinnamon. Granary loaf for preference but any bread in reality. Or a well fired crispy roll buttered with sliced banana.

Jellycatspyjamas · 05/07/2026 16:05

Snap @bestcatlifecinnamon makes it come alive.

I only opened this thread to say, don't be daft, no-one eats banana sandwiches. I am absolutely shocked that there are so many wrong uns out there eating these squishy concoctions. What is wrong with cheese, for the love of god?!

GreatThingsAwait · 05/07/2026 16:09

nice Fresh bread, butter, mashed banana, crunchy peanut butter and jam or honey

Ita a rare treat as I guess it has a million calories but delicious.

There's nothing wrong with cheese.

But a banana sandwich is the ultimate comfort food.

Dilemma999 · 05/07/2026 16:09

Wholemeal seeded bread, buttered. Then fairly thick slices of banana. Used to have a sprinkle of sugar on and white bread when we were kids. Also love sliced banana on a crumpet or a toasted muffin.
Also love a salt and vinegar or cheese and onion crisp sandwich.

Daffodillz · 05/07/2026 16:10

The only time I've ever encountered banana sandwiches was when I was working in a care home kitchen, where many of the residents couldn't handle anything that involved a lot of chewing...!

I feel like cheese is your everyday go to choice that you would eat....a banana sandwich is something you get an absolute hankering for and that makes it taste so much better!

White bread, light scraping of butter, sliced banana, tiny pinch of sugar, slightly squish with a fork then add top slice of bread. Cut into triangles to avoid sticky banana cheeks!

I think you're spot on! I don't have them often but when I do, it's like it satisfies as massive craving 😂
