Ritchie Anderson on radio 2

He's covering for Trevor Nelson and now has his own jingle. They're testing the waters for his own show I think now there's about to be a reshuffle.
There is something about him that really gets on my wick and he's ruined escape to the country now too.
I like Ellie who's been doing Sara's show, use her instead please BBC!

Can I suggest we all email Radio 2?!!

GoWithTheWaves · 22/06/2026 21:55

Yes exactly that! Every actor/reality star seems to think they can be a DJ and bearing mind even some of the real DJs aren’t great, they’re even worse!

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 22/06/2026 21:55

I thought Gary Davies was getting his weekly show moved to a more prominent weekend slot? I had assumed it was a thank you for holding the fort!

Please don’t let them give it to Richie, as PP, inauthentic is the problem. It just sounds like an act all the time. I’m sure other DJs are putting on an act, it’s just it doesn’t sound like it from them. (I do think it takes someone like RA to make you realise how good other DJs are on radio 2, RA is clearly professional, capable and well spoken, just doesn’t have that relaxed natural air about him, so he stands out as being a bit shit compared to the rest on radio 2 daytime)

I think if they don’t have any decent within the various bbc radio stations to take the drive time slot, they should look at recruiting in from commercial radio.

Sally traffic is awful. Her conversations with Romesh border on embarrassing she also doesn’t seem to know what the hell is going on with the travel.

FairViewRosie25 · 22/06/2026 21:58

The only one R2 have got that could do drivetime is OJ Borg and I’m not sure that he is right

I absolutely love Gary Davis. I love it when he’s covering - I can’t understand why he doesn’t have his own show unless he doesn’t want one.

He’s not looking for a regular show anymore, other than Sounds of the 80s, so I’m making the most of these last two weeks before he finishes. After that, I’ll be very, very sad. Once he’s off at 9.30, I switch straight over to Greg James, I did that when I listened to Scott Mills. I just can’t be doing with Vernon’s silliness. I’ve no issue with Richie Anderson, but Sara Cox’s presenting style really isn’t for me. It feels childish and overly silly, and I find it hard to listen to.

Nourishinghandcream · 22/06/2026 22:27

Richie is one of the reasons I have completely dropped R2 and low & behold, he has made it onto ETTC on BBC1 which means I have to miss any episode he presents.☹️
I always thought from day-1 he was a total mistake as he has no charisma and no presenting skills whatsoever. I can only guess he knows where the bodies are buried so they keep him close rather than letting him talk away from the control of the corporation.🤔

musicinspring1 · 22/06/2026 22:41

I’m too old to be the target audience for radio 1 but I’m still there. They (mainly) have DJs who seem to genuinely love radio and have trained for that , rather than presenters who are just doing radio - if that makes sense ?!

LittleRobins · 22/06/2026 22:55

Is Ritchie the one who was partnered with Giovanni on Strictly? If so he’s a vile man. Very unlikeable.

Peakypolly · 22/06/2026 23:03

I love Ritchie (lone voice), the midlands accent always seems comforting to me, and also like Ellie Taylor.
I cannot stand the giggling between Vernon and his traffic person- Ellie/Eleanor. It seems very exclusionary.

Makes a great deal of sense. Radio 2 is overly skewed towards presenters rather than DJs. Most of the former have no real interest in music at all. @Peakypolly This is exactly why I turn over at 9.30. Gary Davies reins her in but with Vernon, you get the feeling you are intruding on their lunchbreak or something.

I refuse to listen to Vernon and Ellie together. It's just constant giggles and half jokes which they discuss off air but then come back on air after a song still laughing.
Richie today was awful. He just seems to read from a script. "Take That . Patience " Then plays the next song. "Oasis . Wonderwall " He is so boring.

Chocolation · 22/06/2026 23:17

No I would switch off if they put Ritchie on full time. I just don’t warm to him. I agree Rylan is brilliant but Ritchie just no!

HolidayPlanningAgain · 22/06/2026 23:43

Ritchie Anderson was the reason I switched off Zoe, was so happy Scott picked his own team!
he never worked well with the afternoon team. I really don’t understand why the bbc keeps pushing him, he suits local radio

BitOutOfPractice · 22/06/2026 23:45

He supports West Brom so it’s a no from me (die hard wolves fan). Seriously I think he’s just silly.

EmiliaBassano · 23/06/2026 09:51

I noticed things are a lot calmer with Bobbie Pryor on with Gary this morning and on Vernon's show, I expect. Shame he has to continue the Janice Jolene Janine chatter.

Imlyingandthatsthetruth · 23/06/2026 12:00

One of the very few R2 programmes I listen to is Dermot O'Leary on Saturday mornings. I can't understand why they continue with the Sally Traffic badinage, it's pathetically bad. She seems to want to talk about an imagined persona that I have no interest in at all, then when she finally gets round to the actual traffic she giggles and bluffs her way through it and the content is lost. Oh and could the BBC possibly find phone in contestants for the mystery voice who aren't so bloody middle class? I'm convinced they're specially selected to sound the same.

princesspadam · 23/06/2026 12:18

I switched off yesterday once I realised Ritchie was on

i dont like him, he’s not authentic and his voice grates on me.
its becoming slim pickings on R2 these days

cant stand Vernon & his ‘on the tools’ nonsense, ditto Paddy & his OTT faux northern-ness

Yes and I always thought that Giovanni seemed to visibly dislike him too, only being nice when interviewed then didn't want to be near him. Can't say I blame him 😆

Can’t stand him. He’s everywhere! I don’t know why the BBC are so keen to push him on to every tv and radio show possible, he really grates on me. I like Ellie and OJ!

Dinosaurhearmeroar · 23/06/2026 19:18

Oh no Ritchie should be a sidekick as comedy foil, he can’t hold his own show. He’s lovely but he’s support not main. He is also isn’t very bright which can really come across on radio.

BCBird · 23/06/2026 19:25

I think he is a right pain. He is fake when he laughs too. I don't listen when he is on the radio. Even a traffic announcement is too much for me where he is concerned 😟

BCBird · 23/06/2026 19:28

Paddy and Vernon annoy me too. I don't like Jeremy Vine nor Jo Wiley. I liked Paul o Grady- banished the Sunday night feeling for a while. I also loved Michael Ball's show. Happy days

HauntedBungalow · 23/06/2026 19:29

I agree that radio 1 is much better. I listen to either that or radio 3.

The rest of you should try it. It's not a "youth" station any more - youths don't listen to radio. It's just a bit more upbeat in terms of presenters, they're genuinely nice and funny to listen to. Plus it plays newer music, so I feel like I still understand a bit of what's going on in that regard and not quite out to pasture.

HauntedBungalow · 23/06/2026 19:31

Oh and Vernon is awful to listen to - a composite of all the worst middle aged men you've ever met - needy, whiny, creepy and honestly I think quite often hungover.
