Should men remove body hair?

Benny91 · 21/06/2026 15:52

As most of the people I know (men) have removed all the body hair including on the legs.

I however, have a hairy chest, back, under arms, and legs. Is that ok?

Is it a trend nowadays to be a hairless man?

what are your thoughts?

Personal choice!

SparklyGlitterballs · 21/06/2026 16:23

Only if it's what the man himself wants to do. Never remove hair to please someone else.

I personally don't like hairy backs, chests and shoulders. I would never choose to be with a man who was hirsute, not my preference (especially if he's dark haired). There are other women though that love hairy men. Just do what you feel comfortable with OP.

IwouldifIcouldreachit · 21/06/2026 16:24

Men can do whatever they want. However a waxed man is like one of those hairless cats imo.

Men should do the same as women when it comes to body hair.
That's to say, whatever they want.

Personally I love a hairy man!

gamerchick · 21/06/2026 16:27

Are you young? You're probably asking on the wrong site tbh. A decent chunk of bods on here don't think anyone should have to do any of it.

AbsoluteHoot · 21/06/2026 16:27

My husband clippers short his pubes and armpit hair. Not a fan of that underarm candy floss look, so I’m glad he’s always done this. He has only a smattering of chest hair and no back hair.

My beautician does a lot of regular back waxing for men, it’s definitely pretty unusual nowadays for a younger guy to have a full chest or back rug. Such a double standard when some women say men should be hairy as nature intended when most of us are anything but. Of course it’s down to personal choice, but trends play a factor in this.

Anecdotally, my friend had a date recently with a guy she met online. She reported back that he had chest hair poking out of the top of his shirt. The assembled group unanimously went ‘ewww’!

WallaceinAnderland · 21/06/2026 16:29

Why don't you have a 'no hair removed' option?

But actually the answer is that he should do whatever he wants with his own body hair and the same applies to women.

Failedcrunchymum · 21/06/2026 16:31

Keep it all. Unless you're more comfortable shaving some off. DH shaves his chest as he's says it's more comfortable. I prefer it natural but I wouldn't expect him to be less comfortable just to please me. It's your body.

This 😊

AutumnLover1990 · 21/06/2026 16:39

God no. I adore a hairy chest 🥰

Crinkle77 · 21/06/2026 16:40

Body hair is normal but I draw the line at back hair 🤮

ainsleysanob · 21/06/2026 16:42

Nooooooooo. No body hair should be removed on a man except, dependent on what you like in bed, then a neatening up (not removal!) of pubes on the balls and arse suffices! But that’s just what I prefer and since I’m neither you or a man then it’s up to the owner of said hair!

iloveanearlynight · 21/06/2026 16:46

I love a proper hairy man. You could perhaps lose the back, but definitely keep arms, chest, underarms! Unless your preference is to remove it of course. Do what you like!

Mumof1andacat · 21/06/2026 16:46

My dh is quite a hairy man and that ok with him and me. I choose to remove leg and arm pit hair. I keep a tidy bikini line. That's all my choice and it should be a man's choice what they choose to keep and remove as it is mine.

Namechangee11 · 21/06/2026 16:47

If they want to and women too...

I guess that settles it, then.

Pass me the razor..!

You dont have a keep all body hair option, which is what I'd choose

Exactly.
I like male body hair, it's sexy imo.
I totally don't understand the smooth male look at all. I also like (tidy) beards.

If I was dating and I met a man who shaved his legs, chest etc I'd find it a turn off and think he was a bit weird.

The only body hair I routinely remove is shaving my legs because I like body hair on me too 🙂

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 21/06/2026 16:57

Nobody, man or woman, should remove body hair for anyone else. Just do what you want to do.

KrazyKatty · 21/06/2026 17:00

I’ve never known a man who removed body hair other than facial hair. I don’t think I’d find it attractive, to be honest as it would scream vanity. 🤨

ChaToilLeam · 21/06/2026 17:10

I like a hairy man. Sort out the ears and nose, but keep the rest.

Waitingfordoggo · 21/06/2026 17:16

I don’t think ‘should’ is a relevant word here. I think every person, male or female, can do whatever they like with their body hair and it’s no one else’s business.

My personal preference is for rather hairy men. I find a bald chest a bit offputting, and would find hairless legs, armpits or balls on a man very offputting, but that is simply my own preference and what people choose isn’t my business. I could potentially be attracted to a man who was naturally not very hairy, but would be unlikely to be attracted to a man who removed his body hair. Luckily my partner is pretty hirsute and doesn’t remove any hair (he also has a moustache and beard which he keeps groomed), which is just how I like him.

How different we all are! When I first started seeing my DH, the chest hair poking out the top of his shirt made me go weak at the knees! Couldn’t stop looking at it and couldn’t wait to get naked with him 🤤

That’s because no one does have to do any of it. It’s madness to use terms like ‘should’ or ‘have to’ in relation to other people’s body hair 😂

nothingcangowrongnow · 21/06/2026 17:26

It’s personal preference- I would prefer a very hairy man to keep it near and trimmed
