Just a bit of fun! Feel free to join.

I’ll give 5 facts about where I live and see if anyone guesses the right answer.

  1. 15 minutes from an airport
  2. Lots of pubs/charity shops
  3. 30 mins from inner city
  4. Very white British/little diversity
  5. Pork pies!

Mine.

Birthplace of a British born Hollywood actor.
Was once in a county that no longer exists.
Football club name rhymes with the cockney rhyming slang for titties. (But is not in London ).
Is the origin of the phrase "cash on the nail".
Has a harbour where the tide never goes out.

An Ode to my town

Where timber frames lean in to whisper of old,
And the red-brick facades catch the afternoon gold,
The history of kings and of commerce remains,
Alive in the cobbles and echoing lanes.
Beside Oare and Nagden, the tidal tides sweep,
Where the Creek tells the stories the marshlands will keep.
The barges once rested with hulls heavy-laden,
From waters of Swale to the gardens of Graveney.
Here hops were once gathered in seasons of cheer,
And centuries brewed in the heart of the gear.
Now Market Place bustles with chatter and stall,
As the Norman church steeple keeps watch over all.

Where am I ?
