Just for fun so no sarcasm or nastiness please .
My friend and I went to see a West End musical this week . I was really looking forward to it . Great reviews . Celebrity cameos . Camp and fun . Seemed right up our street .
We both hated it . We were turning to each other with puzzled looks and raised eyebrows (we've known each other forever and have very similar tastes so no words needed) .
The audience seemed off their tits to be honest . Screeching at every unsubtle innuendo . Shouting responses to the actors . It was like a really bad hen do .
We left at the interval .
My point is that everyone else seemed to be having a great time . The staff who opened the doors to allow us to leave at the interval were incredulous . I quote : "Are you not enjoying it ?!"
Well no , we weren't . We thought it was shit .
This is a show that is up for lots of awards and has had so many positive reviews .
Have you ever hated something that everyone else seemed to love ?

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 31/05/2026 18:12

Goat’s cheese - smells of rancid old goats.

Cream - but I don’t like milky things in general, inc. yogurt.

Fennel - it’s the only vegetable I really don’t like and won’t eat.

AlternateLook · 31/05/2026 18:13

Cricket is tedious shite.

Clafoutie · 31/05/2026 18:14

Macarons.

Not to be confused with English macaroons, which I do like, but which you don’t seem to be able to buy anywhere anymore 😔

Pulled Pork, the musical……could be a winner!

😂

Pandimoanymum · 31/05/2026 18:18

Similar experience to you, OP, sister and I went to see the musical SIX. I wouldn't say we HATED it, but it was certainly a let down. And amazed at the audience going nuts over it. And the show was so short there wasn't even an interview, what a total waste of money. We just felt like we must be two miserable old bags, but honestly, we're really not 😂

Adolescence (the Netflix drama). Thought it was incredibly poor, couldn’t believe it, I was so ready to like it as it seemed up my street, but I thought it was awful.

Brunches (women who need an excuse to get pissed up during in the day disguised as something sophisticated, and men doing similar - golf, football, races or whatever for a sesh)
Bitchie backstabbing women (ultra nice to people’s faces but not nice at all and actually negative)
Negative moaners who never appreciate anything
Misogynists
Mansplainers
Men who make it dangerous to go outside for women of all ages no matter his they’re dressed.
The film Jerry Maguire - walked out halfway

DoubleShotEspresso · 31/05/2026 18:27

Camping (just why would anybody put themselves through this misery & pain)?
Prosecco-tastes vile.
Musicals.
Low traffic neighbourhoods that benefit basically the 4 wealthiest streets in any borough whilst it’s fine for everybody else to choke.
Christmas pudding ( it’s beyond me how anybody can eat this after a full Christmas dinner)

Sourdough bread. (And I LOVE bread)
Rosé wine
Bubble tea.
Lidl/Aldi - I find them so depressing to shop in and the quality of the fresh produce is shite.

And while I don't mind the actual food, the term "picky bits" which seems to be EVERYWHERE makes me want to scream and shudder. Yet everyone going on about "picky bits".

Ha ha
he went to see him alone in Liverpool when he was 17
i am convinced he doesn’t actually like him, he just can’t go back now 😂😂

My DH is a tad older than your son at 72, but he loves Bob Dylan. Goes on his own to see him. Last week went to a listening of the concert from 66 when someone called him Judas. He sat in a room with about 100 others, listening to a CD that he, and everyone else in the room owns. Not one other person we know likes Dylan, but he has stuck with him for years. He didn't used to be a big follower. He was obviously aware, but got really into him after listening to his later music, after 1997, saying he is the only musician that writes music relevant to a man of his age ie, contemplating death and old age. Great! Just what I want to listen to.

AImportantMermaid · 31/05/2026 18:33
