Kind of you @Orangesandlemons77 its a roller coaster for sure. I remember every step with the CFS clinic taking a frustratingly long time.

I just popped on to share a positive moment. I feel a tad stronger today so I decided to try and lie on the sofa and not only that…. Drum roll please…. I made myself a flipping cup of tea! Taken a photo and sent to friends and family as I’m so proud of myself!

Hope everyone can have a good day 😊

Awww. Good on you! Sending lots of love 💕

Well done @TodayIsatrickyone

I've just had my LC clinic person round so can now use my shower seat, hooray! Slightly awkward as my bathroom is tiny so we were very squished in there getting it set up. And then she meant to ask me if anyone else lived here or visited, used the shower regularly, i.e. would I need to be taking the seat in and out of there frequently. What she did in fact ask me was "do you shower alone?" 😯😂

Dozymoo42 · 07/05/2026 15:13

Amazing news @TodayIsatrickyone! Just made me smile love a bit of positivity - keep going your doing great ☺️

@Orangesandlemons77glad you have your follow up appointment and to be honest it has surprised me how slow everything is such as getting these appointments especially with something so life affecting as this!

@Swanhilde love your ceramics , how did you get into doing it? Was it a short course? Is the acupuncture purely for pain management or does it help with relaxation etc?

@martha79 you sound exactly like me, in fact the one thing I am really proud of is since my crash a few weeks ago I have handed the reigns over to DH and the grown up kids ! I have not really gone nuts trying to clean etc more a gentle potter and even just doing that I’ve seen I’ve over done it sometimes so I know I’m doing the right thing finally. Glad your able to go to Orchestra rehearsal on Sunday I remember you mentioning going back a few weeks ago and planning pacing around it.

@MewithME I just hate the mess it creates but it needs doing and I will be happy once it’s done 😊

Having a peaceful day sat on the couch again with doggos managed to finish my embroidery kit so will need to find something else to do whilst resting now 🥰

What are you up to today if you have a chronic illness Thread 8.. plodding on gently...
Swanhilde · 07/05/2026 16:21

@Dozymoo42 aw, thank you. I did an evening course many years ago when my children were tiny as a creative escape. And then at Christmas my workplace offered us free places on the same course, so I jumped at the chance to have another go ☺️

I collected a vase (? - pic attached) I had already glazed and now the last two pieces have been glazed and offered into the hands of the kiln gods 🤞

And as for the acupuncture, who knows? I do find it relaxing and it definitely helps with my stiff legs and when I have blocked sinuses 🤔

I'm home now and knackered so am resting in bed with a cuppa ☕

Fab as ever @Swanhilde that must be so rewarding!

@Dozymoo42 I can't even sew in a straight line, never mind lovely flower shapes! I do enjoy darning things if that counts lol.

TeaAndStrumpets · 07/05/2026 17:08

@martha79 such shenanigans the LC person must hear about! The mind boggles. I hope you looked scandalised. Although maybe they're aiming to increase your flexibility.....

CoffeeBeansGalore · 07/05/2026 17:25

@TodayIsatrickyone oh well done 👏👏👏. You must be so chuffed that you are recovering well.
@martha79 glad you can use the stool now. It'll help you feel safer.
@Dozymoo42 that is pretty.
@Swanhilde that's unusual. I like that.

TodayIsatrickyone · 07/05/2026 17:52

Thanks all, nice to share some positivity for a change.

I had the OT today who asked to checked our bath situation too today. I’d said to DH before the visit, hope she doesn’t check the bathroom as it’s all getting a bit messy and cluttered in there!

Of course she did so I was a tad embarrassed but she just laughed and commented on what a lovely big bath it was!

DH is coping with shopping, cooking ( along with DD) laundry, keeping dishwasher going, looking after me ( up/ downstairs)school runs and sorting out the dog but housework seems a bit hit and miss!

He’s struggled a bit this last 2 days which is hard to see, DD has A levels next week so trying not to ask too much of her too.

I slept 2 hours this afternoon after my eventful day!

I’m on antibiotics again (I’m immune compromised from biologic jabs) for a gut infection. Lost about half a stone this week. Hopefully can eat something tonight.

In good news, I’ve been assigned a new GP who dealt with my online request really efficiently. Must send him an card. And I’ve got MN to while away the hours 24/7! Smile

Sorry to hear about your dodgy gut.

I recently had several months of diarrhea after stupidly trying some probiotic tablets which did NOT agree with me, and my weight dropped a lot. One thing I tried which was soothing and starchy was Chinese rice soup (congee) It is supposed to cure everything! You can add all sorts to it but I just have water, white rice and salt and cook it in the steamer for an hour. It is gruel, basically, so is extremely digestible. It's not a massive amount of calories but just the thing when your tummy is feeling delicate.

DoAWheelie · 08/05/2026 05:45

Woke up feeling like I got hit by a bus this morning. Nerve pain running down all limbs and I'm so stiff I can barely stand. Annoyingly I have to take my pain meds with food to avoid a very painful (rare) side effect and I have nothing in the house.

Spent the last 2 hours counting down the time until a local cafe opens at 6am who will deliver some breakfast. At least my meds are pretty good so I should be fairly comfortable by 7am and I can just take it easy.

TeaAndStrumpets · 08/05/2026 09:00

That sounds miserable @DoAWheelie I hope your day improves. ☕

Oioiqueen · 08/05/2026 09:19

I'm now eligible for covid spring boosters now I'm on chemo. I used to just get the autumn ones as DH is immunosuppressed so I had them as a household contact. Oh my I've never been so ill from a vaccine in my life. Last night everything hurt and I just couldn't get warm. DH packed me off to bed with a hot water bottle but I feel I had a night of just waking up every 5 minutes it was horrendous. Today I woke up with a pounding headache and unable to lift my arm. My armpit feels odd but as I had a mastectomy with my primary it's all numb under there so I assume its just a bit swollen. Feel much better after some painkillers but I have never reacted like this before. I told DH I'm never having it again and he just looked at me with raised eyebrows and said "I'm sure covid will be much worse for you now that you are on chemo" yes thanks love 😂. Thankfully I'm off work today so will potter shortly and wait for the food shopping to turn up. Thankfully no school run for me today.

Orangesandlemons77 · 08/05/2026 09:27

Sorry to hear about the pain DoAWheelie but glad the cafe can deliver- I can imagine that must be a godsend sometimes.

I have meals I can microwave delivered weekly which really helps. They just go in the fridge.

As usual I am in bed with my coffee. Always feel I am doing the same thing, but there we go. It is nice to hear what others are up to.

I can hear birdsong outside which is lovely. The weather however says something about lightning and rain later, which is a bit off-putting.

Trying to ignore the news with its ominous message about Reform being very popular. Sorry to get political but it is a bit of a worry.

Hoping for a good day for all Flowers

Oioiqueen · 08/05/2026 09:58

@Orangesandlemons77 get the Merlin ID app. It tells you what birds you are listening to. I love using it whilst sat in bed with a hot drink 😂

Hello! You are very welcome. Glad you found us. They're a nice bunch here!

I think having a lot of diagnoses seems par for the course, on the principle that it never rains but it pours!

Oioiqueen · 08/05/2026 10:04

Thankfully we haven't got local elections where I live. I believe our council is actually part Reform. I did laugh when they came in and said they wouldn't raise the CT. Then raised it by 10% whilst our local council froze their share again, one of few local councils to do so apparently. Just makes me laugh as the reform councillors are all ex conservative they just switched parties. Why people think it'll be any different from the years or austerity I don't know. I mean this is a party who think a 19 year old in charge of Warwickshire was an amazing idea.

ValleyClouds · 08/05/2026 10:06

Thanks @TeaAndStrumpets interestingly what I’m doing today is trying acupuncture for the first time but I told my friend (who is also chronically ill) last night and she said she tried it and it was rubbish so who knows. It’s for my knee.

DoAWheelie · 08/05/2026 10:22

Feeling much better after my bacon and morphine breakfast. One of my cats is being extra clingy today so we are cuddled up together on the sofa. I'm watching a couple of old episodes of Stargate as it popped up on Netflix recently.

TeaAndStrumpets · 08/05/2026 10:36

@Oioiqueen yes there is a woman on MN at the moment wondering if she could have a career as a Reform MP but I think she is very naive. Granted having no principles to speak of would be a huge advantage in any political party!

I remember some of the giants of politics in years gone by. This lot are pathetic (all parties)

bedfrog · 08/05/2026 10:39

@TeaAndStrumpetsi agree with you. I'm genuinely terrified at the state of British politics at the moment, and am feeling very vulnerable indeed.

Not much going on today. I'm meant to be going back to work next week but I still don't really think I'm well enough. I really think I need to not work at all but unfortunately that won't pay the bills Sad

Considering making some pancakes for breakfast (but that'll be all my energy for the day used!)

Someone's dog has been barking for about an hour and a half outside too. So draining having to listen to it.

ValleyClouds · 08/05/2026 10:56

feeling very vulnerable indeed

cosign! I am scared for a Farage reign

martha79 · 08/05/2026 10:56

Morning all. Welcome @ValleyClouds

Sorry you're feeling rough after the vaccine @Oioiqueen. I've considered paying for one as I'm not eligible but am a bit out off by how bad I felt after the ones I had. I'd need to time it carefully. Thinking I might get the autumn one though before we head into winter lurgy season.

Glad you feel a bit better after bacon and drugs @DoAWheelie.

I have no particular plans for today. Had a busy night of dreams again. I keep dreaming about moving house, except it's complicated, e.g. I have to pack everything in one evening, or last night I had to sneak back into a shared house where I'd been living because I had nowhere to sleep.

Got up for breakfast early but went to sit back in bed and fell asleep again so I'm only just up now (and still in pyjamas).

Our council results aren't in yet. I'm trying to comfort myself by thinking that politics does swing about like this when people aren't happy with the current government but it's pretty depressing. I watched a fascinating talk through work recently about online misinformation in election campaigns and I think that's had a big influence.

Oioiqueen · 08/05/2026 10:57

@TeaAndStrumpets i mean I'm not old by any shot (not even technically middle aged) however I still remember that every party used to have some radicals. There was always someone who was passionate, wanted to try something new and generally interested. I don't feel that any party really has that nowadays and are all out for their own self guided interests.
