Have a super time in Carcassonne @cardibach, we loved it.

DuncinToffee · 27/04/2026 20:25

Talking about Reeves

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2026/apr/27/rachel-reeves-considering-rent-freeze-to-limit-iran-war-fallout

Rachel Reeves is considering imposing a one-year rent freeze on private sector homes amid growing alarm in government about the impact of the Iran war on voters’ budgets.

Landlords in England would be banned from raising rents for a limited period of time under the proposals, which are being debated within government as part of a major cost of living package to be launched in the coming weeks.

@cardibach have a wonderful time.

Starlings are funny a couple of years ago a pair successfully raised 13 babies to fledglings. I swear they've all returned, dh is refilling the bird bath 2-3 times a day because they love jumping right in and splashing the water everywhere.

We had a pigeon land on the edge of the bath a few days ago and tip the whole thing up. The poor thing was trying to get a drink, kept hitting the bottom with its beak and then looking at me through the window. It looked so confused.

cardibach · 27/04/2026 21:27

Thanks for the well wishes for my hols! In the airport hotel currently. 5.30am wake up which isn’t bringing me joy but it’ll be fine! And by lunchtime I’ll be there.

TemperanceWest · 27/04/2026 20:09

Yes. And a lurker has headed over there.

Indeed. Plus ai.

Llttledrummergirls · 27/04/2026 22:50

Great pics of King Charles and Queen Camilla taking tea with the paedophile man who boasted that he paid for a pageant so that he could go back stage and see the female children naked.

Glad to see the King and Queen thinking of the victims of Trumps best friend and child trafficking sexual predator Epstein while they enjoy hospitality from someone named in the files so many times

(They really shouldn't have done this trip in my opinion).

Lovely optics.

BIossomtoes · 27/04/2026 22:54

Have a great time @cardibach. I’m so looking forward to the tax.

Ah well it’s a good first day at least to make up for it.

Have a wonderful time - looking forward to the tax!

BIossomtoes · 28/04/2026 10:21

It’s in The Times too - bet The Telegraph doesn’t run it!

TemperanceWest · 28/04/2026 10:24

Honest Bob Jenrick strikes again!

Badenoch's probably having a little chuckle over this and for once I can't blame her.

Notonthestairs · 28/04/2026 10:25

So the Conservatives referred Jenrick to parliamentary standards committee?

placemats · 28/04/2026 10:26

Happy Ed Balls day!

The Party did. Revenge and cold dishes served springs to mind.

Notonthestairs · 28/04/2026 10:27

And to all those that celebrate it 🥳

PickAChew · 28/04/2026 11:49

Ed Balls

DuncinToffee · 28/04/2026 12:53

Zia Yusuf is threatening Labour MP's ahead of the vote on Starmer in a post on X

If you vote against it, Reform will carpet bomb your constituency to ensure all your constituents know you voted to save the most unpopular PM of all time. Vote wisely.”

Llttledrummergirls · 28/04/2026 12:58

That's outrageous. Who the hell does he think he is?
I hope there is a law about free, fair and uncoerced voting that he's broken and that reform can be held accountable for.

Notonthestairs · 28/04/2026 13:10

What a weirdly aggressive response from Yusuf (who isn’t an elected anything).

TemperanceWest · 28/04/2026 13:25

It is weird that Badenoch is on her high horse about this.

The Tories initially tried to instruct their MPs to vote down the motion to refer Johnson to the Privileges Committee. It soon became apparent that there would be a backbench rebellion. Then they tried a three line whip to vote on an amendment to delay the decision until after the Sue Gray report. Same result. So they withdrew the three line whip and the motion went through without needing a vote.

As for Yusuf, small dick energy?

I think Yusuf is channeling the Trump approach. Thing is, it won't work here.

I think the only valid reply to that has two words, beginning with F and O.

TemperanceWest · 28/04/2026 13:52

It is a bit stupid anyway. By the time a GE rolls around I doubt Mandygate will be a deciding factor for the electorate, especially as it is possible Starmer won't be leader.

placemats · 28/04/2026 15:01

Wonder if Kemi Badenoch will be leader of the Tory party in 2029.

As for Yusuf

Exactly 😂

Absolutely. In fact FOTTFSOFATFOSM.
