Calling in in a sunny Monday and did quite a bit of work in the garden. Dug up several bricks, which came in very handy. Got my Euros for next week.

Who is heading off to Carcassonne this week?

DuncinToffee · 27/04/2026 15:23

I am looking forward to some Carcassonne tax

I was watching a pair of Starlings, who have made a nest under our neigbour's roof tile, flying in and out feeding their chicks. Noisy little things Grin

KC is off to meet Trump, Starmer is chairing a Cobra meeting on the economic impact of the war in Iran and MPs are to vote on whether to hold inquiry into Starmer over Mandelson

🙋🏻‍♀️ that would be me! Currently in the train to Manchester Airport. Flying early tomorrow.

cardibach · 27/04/2026 16:08

There’ll definitely be Carcassonne tax @DuncinToffee
What a waste of time that vote about an inquiry is. We know he didn’t mislead. Asked and answered

I have starlings above my bedroom window every year. They have not yet learned that the dawn chorus is supposed to be a serene and beautiful sound experience. Oh well.

There is another thread on this but this really is depressing news. The stats for Blackpool are shocking.

Hartlepool, too, and that doesn't surprise me, sadly.

Total waste of time. Does Badenoch imagine Labour MPs would vote in favour? I expect they all just want the whole thing to go away.

Have a fabulous time in Carcassonne. Very jealous!

DuncinToffee · 27/04/2026 16:33

Have a great time Cardi!

From PippaCrerar

NEW: No 10 publishes letter that Chris Wormald, then cabinet secretary, sent to Keir Starmer in Sept about Mandelson appointment process.

“The evidence I have reviewed leads me to conclude that appropriate processes were followed in both the appointment and withdrawal of the former HMA Washington.

Enjoy Carcasonne @cardibach

Fijne Koningsdag to anyone who celebrates.

What a glorious day here in Wales.

BIWI · 27/04/2026 16:48

Have a great time in Carcassonne @cardibach - very envious!

SerendipityJane · 27/04/2026 18:07

Yes. It's curious how the real world refuses to align with the alleged Reformsteria that MN would have you believe is happening.

PickAChew · 27/04/2026 16:23

Hartlepool, too, and that doesn't surprise me, sadly.

Or Blackpool.

Meanwhile MN's response is 'let them eat broccoli'.

Actually, to be fair, there are lots of excellent posters on the thread.

But MN is obsessed with food. I suppose it's the last refuge for victim blamers.

DuncinToffee · 27/04/2026 18:24

Brocolli?

What happened to the usual lentils and tinned tomatoes.

OP posts:
Piggywaspushed · 27/04/2026 18:52

Its probably not broccoli. I just ate some so I was feeling virtuous.

placemats · 27/04/2026 19:02

I love cabbage and turnips. Especially with buttery mashed potato.

PickAChew · 27/04/2026 19:03

I'm currently cooking broccoli and carrots and I still ache all over. Just don't tell the MN obsessives that I'm having 3 big fat sausages, too.

TemperanceWest · 27/04/2026 19:23

There is an interesting thread in Politics about Claire's Accessories going bust. Apparently CA has blamed Reeves. The OP isn't getting quite the response they were probably hoping for. It is quite refreshing!

1300 jobs gone, though. It is sad.
