A rucksack that packs down really small and zips into its own front pocket. So it goes down into something that fits in your pocket but folds out to be really quite large and has straps to wear on your back.

My friend bought it for me and I used the hell out of it for years until the zip went. She bought me a replacement for Christmas.

Do you have a link for this please, it sounds like it would be perfect for my DB

A little travel cup which never leaks. Had it a good few years now

This Personal Library stamper set from Waterstones. I LOVE it because I am often lending books to people because I want them to read them so we can talk about them! Now I get to stamp and ticket them and have a little record of what's 'on loan' and can send a cheeky email or text from Piknik's library when they are overdue and broadly now get all the things I lend back!

I also like stamping things just because.... Actually, i think anyone who doesn't like stamping things is a bit weird...

Silk pillowcase - so nice to sleep on
small one cup water bottle which fits in my foldie
a single cup tea infuser - decent tea for one
hori knife - use it literally every time I’m gardening
a vintage hand held trug. Perfect for carrying veggies back from the allotment
As a child I adored a tiny curled up porcelain kitten in a real wicker cat basket. I adored it but it got lost somewhere between houses. Have never managed to find the same on on eBay but will never stop looking.

I have a tiny porcelain curled up kitten in a real wicker basket. It has pride of place on my 'thingy' shelves of odds and soda which make me remember people. My cousin gave it to me for Christmas....some 55 years ago!

My dad was struggling to understand my chronic illness and why I could do things some days but not others. My partner suggested showing him spoon theory and talked him through it, and he got it.

A few months later it was coming up to Christmas, and my dad and partner went out shopping together. They came home with a packet of candy-cane spoons "so you can enjoy Christmas properly".

It was bought in a shop, not online, my friend doesn't do internet shopping! I think it might have been in one of the camping-type shops like Go Outdoors or Mountain Warehouse (because that's where she usually shops!)

That's very special! How lovely.

I had a quick look and it's a bit like this one. Mine folds into its own front pocket and I can't tell if that's what this one is doing or not, but it's similar.

My sister made me a little cross-stitch of my dog shortly after he died, and framed it alongside some photographs of him. It's been hanging on our wall ever since. DH and I had a little tuft of his fur and we stuck that to the top of the frame.

A microwaveable hot bottle shaped item. Was from a Secret Santa at my last job and I've had it about 15 years. Doesn't get used very often now as I have an electric blanket but it's handy to still have around if my shoulders or my back aches a bit after gardening.

Do you have to pay taxes if you're ordering from US?

I just bought a 2 pack of dupes from ebay for less than £4.Edited:Seen others have suggested cheaper alternatives already.

That looks like it would work for him , thank you.

A Jollibee toy from colleagues in the Philippines. He sits on my desk and makes me happy every time I look at him 😊

A very small torch which charges via USB. Super convenient and very powerful.

So - they arrived. They do give my hair a brilliant shape, are super comfortable, sit securely and are lightweight. I feel like the actual band looks a bit odd though - the two square angles just sit slightly proud of my head, which I think might look a bit odd. .

They do solve the issue of having shortish curly hair falling over my face, clipped back with barrettes which feels a bit odd at my age, or under an Alice band which also feels a bit age inappropriate. So I feel like they have promise, but not 100% convinced yet. I'll see how I feel after a prolonged wear. Thanks for the suggestion though, it's a really interesting design.

Please could you link to the UK site you bought from?

Autumnallaround · 08/09/2026 10:27

A spotty jam spoon tied with a ribbon. I was hosting a coffee morning and one lady gave me this. I use it daily 14yrs later.

It's these. They are the original Zazzy Bands and not particularly cheap. There are much cheaper ones on Amazon and Ebay. These might be more durable, but still feel like they could snap quite easily if you weren't careful.

I am liking them more this morning, I think my hair may be a bit fuller (second day after washing) and the square bits are less prominent. I REALLY like the shape they give my hair, much better than Alice band or clips.

A bar of Chanel soap. Used for hand washing in bathroom - lasted almost a year and the whole bathroom smelt amazing. Better than a diffuser

SwisswolvesLilley · 08/09/2026 10:42

I was gifted a small zip up nail kit by a friend. I’ve had it over 30 years now, used almost daily and is still as good as new.

CanIbeRio · 08/09/2026 10:47

My elderly mum had got to the point where she couldn't get out to do her Christmas shopping. One year for Christmas I received, via Damart mail order, a trio of retro bodysprays that took me right back to the 70s/80s (I was 50ish at the time). They were Tweed, Lace and Panache. I loved the retro-ness of them and her thoughtfulness in ordering them for me. The scents transported me back to my youth! It was one of my favourite gifts that year!

Over 40 years ago, my sister went to India and brought me back half a walnut shell with a baby in it - well, a wooden baby’s head and beautiful embroidery for the bedding.
