What’s the worst thing you’ve witnessed in a Teams/Zoom meeting?

I am ultra paranoid about online meetings, as I’ve witnessed a few mishaps:

  1. A woman took a personal phone call and didn’t realise a colleague had left their mic on. She started slagging the whole team off and we could hear every word.
  2. A man left his mic on and went to the toilet
  3. Not me personally - but a friend was in a meeting where a woman left her cam on by accident and she had just got out of the shower. She then got dressed in full view of everyone on the meeting.

I wouldn’t dare do any of those things even near my laptop, just incase of an accident occurring.

The speed awareness course where one participant was lying in bed ( not unwell or injured, he said he was tired) and his partner kept appearing at the side bringing him tea and snacks. The trainer told him if he saw her again he would block him , he would lose his course fee and would automatically get points. The trainer was a very patient man!

Woah fun police it wasn't like he did it on purpose for god's sake! It was ONLINE, remember that time. Jesus..

Best to only use your work email for work @JoB1kenobi.

True, but I didn’t have a teams account and cba to set one up for the sake of one quick question - or so I thought it would be - lesson learned.
I do work in same school he attends, so not entirely personal.

It’s probably not the worst, but once I was in a training on zoom and I got bored (blergh, principles of project management II) and was messing around with settings and managed to put a top hat 🎩 on myself. 🤣 I panicked and in my panic couldn’t figure out how to remove it.

The presenter clearly saw me, wearing a top hat, freaking out, and completely lost his train of thought. So awkward. 🫣 Three more full days of project management and trying to pretend like that didn’t happen. 😬

😂😂😂 I’m sorry this is hilarious

Maybe off topic but my daughter changed the screen saver on her desktop at work to her pet guinea pig. The managing director had delegates from head office visiting and when he turned his computer on the company logo was replaced by her guinea pig, as was all the other computers throughout the dealership.
Fortunately one of the delegates had a guinea pig too

That is hilarious! I'd have loved to see the moment the guinea pig suddenly spammed the whole network 😄

It was fortunately really funny and everyone forgave her. She didn’t know how she did it and IT had to intervene, but they didn’t rush it as priority.

My favourite is the "Tony we can see your pants" teams meeting. It cracks me up every time, mostly because of his colleagues reaction. It's in the middle of this montage of teams/zoom fails.

Edited

I love Tony's reaction ! You can't see him for dust once he realised 😄

Had one today. In a Teams meeting about the safety of AI in a clinical setting, one of the presenters has such a strong filer on she looks like she’s AI herself Blush

I’ve just finished London Falling by Patrick Radden Keefe and in that at the online inquest into a death, someone giving evidence (who’d been previously suspected of being involved in the persons death) has a shower in full view of everyone, including the dead man’s loved-ones. The judge also falls asleep!

The funniest thing I saw, in a meeting with Local Authority, was a well dressed middle aged lady morph into someone who had been dragged through a hedge backwards courtesy of her really naughty poodle. She would try removing him but he'd be back sitting in her chair before she was. She would try him sitting next to her but he'd just climb all over her. He'd start on her knee then I'd get a full view of his bum as he was on her trying to remove her specs. Not sure any of us learned anything from the meeting as we were too busy watching the poodle tbh.

Nothing as funny as these, but there one call where a not tech savvy guy was screen sharing and clicked on the teams chat with someone else in the meeting which was slagging off attendees!

I’ve had similar to this

a colleague who was a complete know it all, thought he could run the business better than anyone. We were on a management meeting and he’d prepared some sort of presentation about his ideas to completely change the way we worked which would “make the company millions” (🙄)

he shared his screen and had a chat open at the side between him and one of the directors who was on the call where they were completely tearing one of the other company directors apart (ironically the director they were berating was the most competent guy on the board, he just didn’t put up with their bullshit so they hated him)

the guy obviously didn’t register that the chat was there and launched into his self promoting speech about how he was so good at his job and if we followed his example we could be aswell (again 🙄).

My favourite part about it was the director on the call who was involved in the chat clearly frantically texting him, panic written all over his face. Presenting guy finally noticed and closed the chat then proceeded to stammer his way through the rest of his presentation 😂

the director they were slagging offs PA had screen shot the chat and they were both hauled to the CEO. not surprising that neither of them are still with the company

03cg73 · 21/04/2026 13:36

Oh i just remembered during the first lock down, a colleagues 2 year old took his dirty nappy off and came over completely naked and handed it to her 😂😂

there was only 4 of us on that call tho and it was just a sanity check in so wasn’t an actual meeting
