What’s the worst thing you’ve witnessed in a Teams/Zoom meeting?

I am ultra paranoid about online meetings, as I’ve witnessed a few mishaps:

  1. A woman took a personal phone call and didn’t realise a colleague had left their mic on. She started slagging the whole team off and we could hear every word.
  2. A man left his mic on and went to the toilet
  3. Not me personally - but a friend was in a meeting where a woman left her cam on by accident and she had just got out of the shower. She then got dressed in full view of everyone on the meeting.

I wouldn’t dare do any of those things even near my laptop, just incase of an accident occurring.

Similarly I was on a Teams group call when suddenly a man stood up and picked up a drink from across the room …
wearing a shirt , tie and some saggy y fronts 🤢

BigGra · 03/04/2026 18:30

A stroke.

ForestHare · 03/04/2026 18:32

A colleague forgot his camera was on (or didnt care), started picking his nose and eating it 🤢

A stroke.

Oh God how horrific! For everyone. At least someone presumably was able to call emergency services? 😕

Ochtawa · 03/04/2026 18:35

A cock

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 03/04/2026 18:35

Worst thing I've ever seen in a Teams meeting

My own face

DierdreDaphne · 03/04/2026 18:35

Don't think Ive seen anything worse than a cat's arse so have got off extremely lightly by the sound of it. Though I did fail to mute myself once while I was struggling to connect on teams and possibly being a bit audibly annoyed about it- oops, embarrassing!

Simonjt · 03/04/2026 18:37

My husband was on and I didn’t realise he hadn’t put a fake background up, so the poor sods saw me naked, thankfully he realised really quickly.

A few jobs ago we heard a colleagues partner being arrested, that was awful as it was the elephant in the room for a long time. He’s still inside and it turned out she was well aware of his crimes and has benefitted financially from them.

mindutopia · 03/04/2026 18:38

It’s probably not the worst, but once I was in a training on zoom and I got bored (blergh, principles of project management II) and was messing around with settings and managed to put a top hat 🎩 on myself. 🤣 I panicked and in my panic couldn’t figure out how to remove it.

The presenter clearly saw me, wearing a top hat, freaking out, and completely lost his train of thought. So awkward. 🫣 Three more full days of project management and trying to pretend like that didn’t happen. 😬

That’s made me laugh, thank you

A senior manager decided to host a meeting topless. It hadn’t even occurred to him that it would be inappropriate. I wasn’t there to witness it thankfully but my colleagues got an eyeful.

CrawlingBackToYou · 03/04/2026 18:42

Saw a woman eating her breakfast last year which ended up unfortunately with her licking the plate in full view of about 120 delegates.

Think the training was recorded too 😂

Onadark · 03/04/2026 18:50

Didn't see it myself but one man masturbated when he thought the meeting was finished but he left the camera running. It was in the news and OJ Simpson commented on it. Like he can judge.

HungryHerbivore · 03/04/2026 18:51

I had a colleague fall asleep. Granted, it was one of our night shift workers and the speaker did have a particularly soothing voice!

There's been a few hairy "share screen" moments too

PlumPlumb · 03/04/2026 18:55

Someone camera off but unmuted absolutely losing their shit at someone.

Was glad when they returned to the meeting and explained that it was their cat they were shouting at and was because the cat had brought in a not yet dead bird who had got free and the cat/bird/alarmed person had knocked a glass of water over on the desk/laptop/person.

After that the 'you absolute fucking wanker piece of shit, get the fucking fuck out of here' we all heard seemed a quite reasonable response.

MissAmbrosia · 03/04/2026 19:01

I've had many an afternoon call with a CFO at one of my suppliers who always had a glass of red wine and a cigarette on the go. Some poor person did a share screen at an executive level meeting and scrolled through about 20 tabs of greek holidays before she found required spreadsheet. I laughed and cringed as it was something I live in fear of.

He was in a meeting room in China with others and the rest of us were dialled in on teams video from home.
He was mid conversation and then keeled over. Heard he recovered fine.

A colleague was on a call with another woman when she let out a shriek and fell to the floor, all colleague could hear was her writhing around in pain on the floor, her husband was home thankfully. Turns out an ovarian cyst had burst.

GreenCaterpillarOnALeaf · 03/04/2026 19:09

I thought I had a fake background up but I didn’t and you could see my nephews painting of a chimp taking a bong rip in the background. The client was a good sport though I did tell him that’s not actually mine and I’m at my nephews student flat. I’m self employed so it’s not like I had to explain it to my manager.

PissedOffAndStuck · 03/04/2026 19:09

I was on a digital networking meeting about EDI a few years ago which was hacked and the hacker started playing a porn 'soundtrack' over the speaker then drawing nazi symbols on the screen - I don't think anyone could quite believe what they were hearing/seeing for the the first few minutes.

Auburngal · 03/04/2026 19:10

I hate seeing myself on Teams - I hide my camera screen.

Worst thing I seen on Teams - a colleague forgot to put a background on and saw her knickers on an airer.

Another Teams meeting - cat jumped on the lampshade on a standard lamp and fell onto the colleague’s head

elgreco · 03/04/2026 19:20

Someone eating an apple in a slobbery manner very close up.

Gingernaut · 03/04/2026 19:22

Being in a meeting with one of those 'wacky/I'm mad me' characters, who, in reality, had all the personality and charisma of a brick

There was meant to be a quiz, with voting options, so we couldn't switch off the mics or cameras.

Without any hint of irony, he put on a spangling cowboy hat, like you see on hen dos in big cities, an over sized pair of tacky Elton John type specs and put on a fake 'Yeehaw' accent to go through the questions

We were in Birmingham

Second hand cringing embarrassment had me squirming in my seat for nearly half an hour

It was excruiating

Rnn · 03/04/2026 19:24

I've farted.

Imicola · 03/04/2026 19:28

On a one to one call with a colleague, he clearly had forgotten he had his camera on and stood up and had a "rummage" right in front of the camera. Awful.
