I'm roasting some thighs, right now. Much less faff to serve than a whole chicken and everyone gets their favourite bit. There will be pigs in blankets, too, of course, especially for DS2.

Definitely sewing! It used to be the way for people with less money to have nice clothes and linens for their homes. My grandmother sewed everything herself! And now it's all fast fashion while the price of decent fabric has skyrocketed. I still see but it isn't an inexpensive hobby unless someone's giving away fabric from their grandma's old stash or selling bale ends cheaply.

I’m mid 50’s and my DM and I were really into making clothes when I was an older DC and even then it worked out more expensive to make clothes than buy them especially when we bought more expensive patterns.
