This is a smoking appreciation thread for traditional tobacco (please no vapes). Pipes, holders, roll ups and cigars.

Anyone still enjoy a good smoke?

Non smoker here - it killed my mum with 2 separate lung cancers - she never stopped even under treatment.

Highly likely that years of passive smoking also caused my cancer too.

However, i'd never dream of telling another adult they shouldn't smoke. It's a legal activity any person can participate in and whilst people have valid reasons for not liking it, that's where it should end.

For the Bifter and Doobie appreciators, I checked and the wonderful torch emoji, brought in by MN for the Olympics still works.. ah, takes me back!

Smoke a menthol?! I'm ancient and remember St Moritz in their classy green and gold packet, put those down on a pub table with a Dunhill lighter and you definitely raised the ante! Menthol were popular with new smokers who didn't like the taste of baccy but were determined to get over it.

I smoked for around 37 years. Switched to a vape now. Loved fags. Grew up around them. My dad smoked from age 9 until he was 86. He didn’t die of anything related to that. I’ve got the antique chest of drawers that used to sit on the landing at his house. If you open a drawer you can get a whiff of all the thousands of roll ups. Lovely x

Try varenicline. I was a hardened smoker. Gave up with varenicline but even as I was giving up, I did say to myself it wasn't "forever", because I don't think I would have been able to do it otherwise. So now I mostly don't smoke. But I do have a couple on a night out, or on holiday, over Christmas, that kind of thing. Works for me. Sure it would be "better" if I didn't smoke at all I guess, though I'm sceptical that the odd few cause that much harm, but I'm happy with the level I'm at now.

I suppose the danger is that if I had any major stressors, then I could relapse. But that could happen regardless.

There are many things in this world that can kill you and make you smell and cough. Cigarettes give smokers pleasure and that's what this thread is about. Obviously you're anti smoking and that's fine but not everyone shares your views so this probably isn't the thread for you
