Marmite pasta is yum - can’t remember where I first saw the recipe, possibly it’s one of Nigella’s? Anyway, boil pasta, (spaghetti seems to work best), then stir in butter and marmite to your liking. Sprinkle with Parmesan and scoff. Don’t let it go cold though as it starts to go clumpy.

Omg this sounds like my heaven

love marmite, goes in everything, spaghetti bolognese, chilli, gravy
best on thick buttery toast

JulesJules · 25/03/2026 12:17

Love Marmite.

I have it on Ryvita, spread thickly and topped with cottage cheese (preferably Longley) and sliced tomatoes, lots of black pepper.

Or with cheese on toast, or hot well buttered crumpets.

Marmite and tomato sandwiches. Especially with lots of butter and big beef tomatoes.

I don't mind it, have it from time to time but if it wasn't in the cupboard anyway for DH I probably won't have think about it

Bonjovispjs · 25/03/2026 12:23

Marmite and Dairylea are the perfect combination 😋

SoSadSoSadSoSad · 25/03/2026 12:24

foul stuff.

Pollqueen · 25/03/2026 12:26

Love, love, love ❤️ 😍

I make a cheese dip/bake thing with strong cheddar, crème fraiche and cream cheese heated in a Bain Marie with a teaspoon of marmite and some cornflour to stabilise. Once it's all amalgamated I brown it under the grill and serve it as a communal starter with crudités and bread sticks. My husband gags at the smell of marmite normally but he eats bowls of this.

I normally eat very low fat, low carb but once in a while I treat myself to a homemade cheese scone, toasted and spread with butter and marmite. Yum!

I love the marmite and peanut butter jars they sell.

I know this goes against their whole advertising message, but I think it’s….fine. Take it or leave it. Don’t love it or hate it.

Same here. I have it every once in a while.

CloudPop · 25/03/2026 13:14

I’m entirely ambivalent about it. It’s ok, don’t either love or hate it

Gardening2025 · 25/03/2026 13:15

Marmite or vegemite on buttered crumpets
Or, with peanut butter & banana on toast
Lush

Mimilamore · 25/03/2026 13:15

Only Marmite will do at times!

StabiaGirl · 25/03/2026 13:22

Thanks Op, that's lunch sorted: Toasted crumpets, slabs of butter and a scraping of Marmite.

HoppityBun · 25/03/2026 13:26

At the risk of derailing this, for me, the question is “yeast extract: like it all loathe it?”.

Marmite is utterly vile because it is so salty. It makes my mouth pucker.Yeast extract, on the other hand, is extremely delicious. I do wish that people understood that there is more to yeast extract than Marmite.

The Meridian one is very low salt and I absolutely adore the taste of that.

icantbelievet23432 · 25/03/2026 13:28

I love it, but it's UPF, so i've stopped eating it...

RedVanYellowVan · 25/03/2026 13:33

Wholemeal toast, crumpets, Ryvitas, wholemeal bagels are all perfect for Marmite.

I don't really have a sweet tooth so if we have had something like pudding I have to sneak a spoonful of Marmite to get rid of the sugary taste.

EasterlyDirection · 25/03/2026 13:37

Marmite is amazing, ,none of the alternatives can touch it for taste.

Toast, marmite, peanut butter (not the pre-mixed stuff for some reason that is rank).
Toast, marmite, avocado, poached egg
Toast or crumpets, butter. marmite
Soft white bread, butter, marmite

I agree it goes SO well with Dairylea. Also M&S sell a cheddar infused with marmite and that is delicious.

Edited

Yes, the Meridian one tastes like salt-free Marmite.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 25/03/2026 13:41

I'm having a cheese, Marmite and cucumber sandwich for lunch at this very moment.

AmazingGreatAunt · 25/03/2026 13:57

Love it and have done since about 6 months old.
Boiled egg and marmite soldiers was a staple when growing up.
I was also served some really delicious, clear soup with julienne vegetables in it on holiday a few years ago.
We were all wondering what the stock was (the consensus was a very refined chicken stock), so asked the chef. Revelation - 1 tsp. Marmite dissolved in 1l boiling water!

BetterOffNow · 25/03/2026 13:59

Love it! I ate it by the spoonful from a jar when I was pregnant

Now I love it on toast or cheesy crumpets, or scrambled egg, yum!

Dooodaaaaadooo · 25/03/2026 14:07

Cream crackers with peanut butter, cheese and marmite absolutely bloody marvellous. I was introduced to this combo in Sydney back I the 1990s and still my favourite Marmite snack.

flipperdipper5 · 25/03/2026 14:12

Marmite with cheese in any form. I have been known to dip wotsits into marmite.

Damnloginpopup · 25/03/2026 14:22

Mature cheddar and marmite toastie. Cheapest thin white loaf (more filling) buttered on the outside. The best toastie ever (I had a toastie business and tried so many, none come close. Cheese and marmite enhance each other).

Warm it in a bath of hot water and it'll spread nicely without tearing the bread
