It ain't nothing but a heart-breaker
(War) Friend only to The Undertaker

Unless, of course, your name ends in Trump, when it ain't nothing but an opportunity to grift, deflect and destroy.

Trump: "Who knows better about surprise than Japan? Why didn't you tell me about Pearl Harbor?"

WTF? What kind of question is that?

RedTagAlan · 19/03/2026 17:17

Ahhh...its Sky again.

"The Trump administration bypassed Congress to expedite the sale of billions of dollars of weapons to the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait as Gulf allies shoulder Iran’s retaliation for US and Israeli military action.
The administration also expedited the multimillion-dollar sale of “aircraft and munitions support” to Jordan.
According to notices published Thursday by the State Department, “the Secretary of State has determined and provided detailed justification that an emergency exists that requires the immediate sale” of the defense articles to the three nations, “thereby waiving the Congressional review requirements.”
The emergency determinations were made for nearly $8.4 billion in combined arms sales to the UAE, including Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAMs), F-16 munitions, Fixed Site- Low, Slow, Small Unmanned Aircraft Integrated Defeat Systems and long-range discrimination radar integrated with Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD).
They were also made for the sale of $8 billion in Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor Radars to Kuwait and $70.5 million in “aircraft and munitions support” to Jordan, which includes “spare parts, consumables and accessories, and repair and return support.”
Iran has targeted US facilities in each of those countries, as well as in other countries throughout the Gulf. It is unclear how quickly the defense systems and support equipment will be delivered to each country.
In early March, the administration made an emergency determination to bypass Congress and immediately sell 12,000 bombs to Israel."

Who needs oversight and all that. No bean counters needed for the important stuff such as ..... making sure they don't run out of beans.

Where is this stuff coming from ? They are selling THAAD when they are already stripping other places bare ?

I have an image in my head of an event elsewhere and an armourer making an urgent visit to the stores only to find empty crates with an IOU.

He really doesn't have a filter.

I wonder if he has an inner dialogue.

It's actually quite a smart joke. But maybe not in the Whitehouse with the Japanese premier.

I wonder what the poster who recently found time to be offended by a joke ina Teams meeting would take it. Presumably report to HR ?

From the WP :

As the latest attacks rattled markets, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the administration may lift restrictions on Iranian oil that has already been loaded onto vessels, a move that could help the regime generate funds for its war effort.

“In the coming days, we may unsanction the Iranian oil that’s on the water,” Bessent said on the Fox Business Network. “It’s about 140 million barrels.”

Bessent’s comments come a week after the administration lifted sanctions on Russian oil that was already in tankers, enabling as much as 130 million barrels of that country’s oil to flow into the marketplace, according to the administration.
That move threatens to generate large amounts of cash for Russia and its war effort in Ukraine, which the United States has condemned and sought to end. If Iranian sanctions were to be eased, it would provide revenue to a regime actively trying to kill Americans on the battlefield.

You really couldn't make it up...

The difference with DT is it seems plausible he could begin WW3.

It has been said that WW3 has already started, only we don't know it yet. What historians will say about this period will be interesting. It could be a case of little fires everywhere, leading to WW3.

That perspective makes sense, unfortunately @logicisall

The nukes have not been poised (yet?) but the destruction could still be catastrophic worldwide.

Can I suggest that now is not the time to read Never by Ken Follett if you want to sleep at night.

My source on today's Kuwait refinery attack is based in Mina al-Ahmadi.

“We are now well on the road to the doomsday gas crisis scenario,” said Saul Kavonic, the head of research at the consultancy MST Marquee. He warned that the LNG supply disruption could last for months or even years once the war ends, depending the extent of the damage, keeping gas prices high

Here's something else to consider on the unintended consequences side. Will we now see oil rich developing nations esp in Africa, investing their windfall in refineries?

So the only hope is net zero now.

Destruction of valuable and diminishing assets needed worldwide.

Destruction of buildings that require a rebuild using gas and oil.

Destruction of lives and the inevitable famine that will follow.

The deranged 🍊🤢 would have us heading back to slavery.

The Pearl Harbor comment FFS

TiredCatLady · 19/03/2026 21:40

Also the threats to South Pars shouldn’t be taken lightly - they’re bombing offshore installations. The Iranian part of the field alone covers a space more than twice the size of greater Manchester.
Think of Gulf War 1 where they set the onshore oilfields alight and they sent teams in to literally dynamite the wells to bring them under control. If they’re taking out pipelines, production platforms and hubs that haven’t been isolated or shut off then it’s an absolute environmental disaster. The production platforms are huge - size of a football pitch.

logicisall · 19/03/2026 22:03

We're all going to be experts on the O&G industry before the Iran war ends, so here's a bit of light reading on Iran... with MAPS! 😊
