Does anyone have a table in their shower?

AreTheyMad · 05/03/2026 17:21

We have a new, walk-in shower. I love it but... I have to walk out to get my glasses to go back and clean the glass down. So I'm thinking I need like a mini coffee table that's waterproof and can stand in the far corner of the shower. A "shower table" is clearly a useless search term as is a coffee table as it needs to be water/rust proof.

Anyone else have this dilemma? What do you use?

Plastic stool you need

Problem with showers (we get this in holiday lets, drives me mad) no where to put stuff. I have glasses, I have soap, I have shampoo and conditioner. Unless it goes on the floor theres no where for it

Grupon · 05/03/2026 17:24

Plastic plant stand might do it

MakeYourOwnSunshine · 05/03/2026 17:25

Why don't you get something you can stick on to the tiles/wall like a soap tray/shower caddy/toothbrush mug specifically for putting your glasses in? Much more practical than a table. Confused

Go on Amazon and look up shower soap dishes. There’s a ton of different types but sure you’d find something.

joyava · 05/03/2026 17:35

Google “shower caddy”. Ikea, Jysk etc have lots of options. Tesco have them too.

Dragonscaledaisy · 05/03/2026 17:40

You need a wall niche to store everything or alternatively a shower seat

damelza · 05/03/2026 17:45

I've got one of those niche shelf things. Great for putting bits and pieces on. Ahem, I also have a fold down seat which came in very handy when I couldn't stand for long after an injury.

OP I'd just get a suction tray and stick it on the wall. You might fall over the coffee table, especially if it comes with wine and a cooler 😊

We have a trolley, it was for vegetables in our old house but new house kitchen is too small so I put it in the shower, which is a wet room/adapted bathroom currently. It's actually great has all the shower gel shampoo cleaning stuff in it and wheels around for cleaning

Isobel201 · 05/03/2026 17:55

Do you have to clean it the instant you get out after using it? Just go and dry off, then you can put your glasses back on to clean it?

Should have planned this into the new shower installation, d'oh!

OP, something that suckers to the shower wall perhaps?

BestIsWest · 05/03/2026 18:00

Won’t the glasses steam up? Mine do if I take them in with me.

AreTheyMad · 05/03/2026 18:02

@Ohfudgeoff 😁hindsight is an excellent gift isn't it! I never had a glass door before so it wasn't an issue I knew I'd have!

Shower stool is the term you need. Garden stool would also work.

We have a white resin/stone one like this but ceramic ones also work.

Google ceramic garden stool and you’ll find loads

CelticSilver · 05/03/2026 18:20

I have one of these - the shelves have drainage holes and it just needs an occasional quick rinse down with the shower.

You need prescription goggles like Hugh Grant in Notting Hill........

Joseph do a variety of stuff. But can you really not see enough to squeegee a shower screen without your glasses? They will fog up as soon as you put them on?

I travel with a mesh basket which hooks over the shower head. Stuff goes in there.

That's like mine. But with castors

AreTheyMad · 06/03/2026 08:48

@TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams nope, -11!

Thank you for the suggestions.

I've just had a walk in installed too. I have a little shower stool to pop in if I need it, a window vac thingy to clean the shower screens and these doodibs for 'stuff' that stick to the walls.

Sorry about the amazon link!

Shower caddy

Not helpful now but when our showers were updated I insisted on a niche being fitted everyone including my husband argued against it but it was a deal breaker and they’re excellent and husband agrees he was wrong. You can also get niche inserts with lighting prefitted if that’s your thing. We have a second home in a remote part of Spain and insisted on it there too - my Spanish builder had never heard of them but when he finished he took a huge amount of photos and is now recommending them to all his new clients. I think until you experience one you don’t realise what a game changer they are - most walls have a gap large enough between the plasterboard and the stud wall to fit one. Other than that I take a waterproof wash bag with a hangar for use in hotels etc . If a permanent solution where niche cannot be fitted I agree with yoda above - a plastic stool you need.
