Does anyone lend money to small entrepreneurs using lendwithcare?

I've spent some time looking at it this evening and I am quite tempted. It looks like a really good way of helping others for no cost (or at least limited risk). DH thinks its a scam..

Has anyone done it?

I love this thread sooo much. It reminded me to check in and pop a bit more on there. Need to keep it up in active threads, I wouldn’t have donated without seeing it on here.

Not sure if I've posted on here before but I love this charity! I've made 24 loans, had one default (for a very good reason that i can't remember now!) and had a small loss due to currency fluctuations. But enough of my original £30 is still going and I'm still lending to more people.
I think it's a fantastic scheme.

My repayments are not being added to my credit. Also when there is a repayment there is a minus traction called reclaimed bonus. Any ideas?

Ah. That's happening to me too. Am a bit confused. Is that because it's the free loan I wonder, we don't get the repayment to loan again?

Andnowshesatoddler · 17/06/2026 08:04

When you've lent your "free" loan to don't get to loan that portion again it did say something about being called "bonus" (I forget the exact phrase) on your statements.

I've just signed up! I love this idea. Empowerment rather than handouts. Everyone feels good.

I’ve been using Lendwithcare for 13 years. Have given over £1,000 in loans, one grant and almost £50 in donations. Haven’t added that much! I only ever give to women. Just waiting for my credit to reach £15 again before making another loan.

I’ve only had one loan default in all that time.

greetings lenders!
just to let you all know I signed up to the 100 miles in June challenge I mentioned up thread- so not lending but rather raising money for the whole charity and hence supporting the overheads for the lending.
I know we can't post links to fundraisers but if anyone from the MN massive salad collective would like to support this, DM me and I'll send you a link.

I use Kiva - similar idea I have been loaning the same $25 for years.

Thank you for this thread. I've seen this advertised before but have never really looked into it properly. Your positive stories has inspired me and I've just made a donation.
