Does anyone lend money to small entrepreneurs using lendwithcare?

I've spent some time looking at it this evening and I am quite tempted. It looks like a really good way of helping others for no cost (or at least limited risk). DH thinks its a scam..

Has anyone done it?

This is a joyful thread to read! I’ve signed up and lent to a group of women in Zambezi. Also joined the MN team and laughed at the massive salad 😆

Costacoffeeplease · 03/03/2026 21:39

I have just attributed my loans to the team

Another request from a Woman for a Walking Tractor has gone up today.

I feel a bit bad that I’ve sort of hijacked @User253853‘s thread with setting up a lending team! But thank you OP for starting the thread. Look at all the people who have discovered that website because of your post! 👏

I’m amazed 20 of you so far have joined me in The MN Massive (Salad) team. In case anyone doesn’t get the name - a massive salad is just one of those ‘mumsnetisms’ that came to mind and of course massive can mean a group of people, so it works 😁 Please excuse the AI profile picture, it couldn’t quite work out the MN logo but I’m not sure if we would’ve been allowed to use it anyway.

Thanks so much to everyone who has joined so far. Over £1000 lent between us! Fantastic!

Here’s the link again in case anyone missed it

No, by all means crack on. All publicity is good publicity.

Love the name, MN Massive (Salad)!

I’ve just joined using a referral link, and here’s mine if anyone needs one;https://lendwithcare.org/referral/GSYG3G

What a fabulous idea. And almost criminal to not join with £15 free to loan.

I’ll be texting all of my friends, about this, tomorrow too.

Thanks OP :) 🌺

I don't get how to join the team? the link doesn't work- mind you I don't really get what being in a team means

in other news, both the projects I lent to are fully funded (solar energy in Malawi)
😁

paddlemyowncanoe · 11/03/2026 20:02

I’ve joined the team, having clicked on someone’s link a few days ago.
The woman I loaned to with my bonus is now fully funded
I am now looking for someone else to loan to with my contribution

Its a great scheme that I’d seen on Facebook , but I had hesitated to join until I saw these posts. So thank you for raising it OP

I like being in a team because I like seeing what others in my team - none of whom I know IRL- are choosing to fund. And I love seeing the number of people supported go up.
I've lent and re-lent my initial donation ( because I see this as part of my charitable giving) and it seems such a worthwhile endeavour. The nineteen year old who I've just loaned money to is fully funded and I am so pleased for her.

The link should take you to the main team page https://lendwithcare.org/teams/mn-massive-salad then a little further down there’s a big orange ‘join team’ button.

Essentially the team is just a bit of fun where a group of likeminded individuals can see how many people we’re helping as a group effort. There’s no obligation to join if it’s not your sort of thing; equally you’re welcome to if it is 🙂

Welcome to the team! I don’t know why the earlier link stopped working, I’m sure it’s the same as the one I posted last night… tech gremlins I expect!

Glad this is still drawing others in!

Let's hope it continues to do so for a long while. Huge thanks to @User253853 for bringing this to our attention and to the poster who set up the MN team. There are now 29 members with a total of nearly £1,500 raised. Fantastic!

Just joined so thanks 🙏 very much for the code.

I am in tears at all the ordinary people trying to better themselves in life and work.

Honestly we don't know we're born in the UK. Chastened.

PolkaDotPorridge · 12/03/2026 17:29

This is my referral link if anyone wants it. The chap I chose has now reached his target. I am so happy for him. He’s the sole earner and looks after his wife and two little children. Thanks OP for this, it’s great!

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 12/03/2026 19:21

I've joined the mn team too! I like popping on and seeing how the women I loaned to are doing.. If anyone wants a code here's mine. https://lendwithcare.org/referral/6FK90A

Thanks to @Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride for the referral code. Here is mine - I lent a little extra to a woman in Cambodia so she can reach her loan target and buy a tractor for her farming business. Here is a referral code:

It's so heartwarming to see this thread re-visited every now and then. I am eagerly awaiting the first repayments made from loans a month ago.

Let's hope many more people stumble across the thread by chance as I did.
