Things that are unexpectedly hot

Valentines thread to ponder on seemingly everyday things that are really attractive. My contribution:

A friend's DH that spontaneously made us some scones and made cream teas. (I've thought about that a lot).

Dads, he can be totally not my type etc, but that all goes out the window if he’s a dad (not a shit one obviously).

ForLoveNotMoney · 15/02/2026 18:11

My partner is incredibly intelligent. He’s a world renowned expert in his scientific field and listening to him on zoom meetings gets me hot under the collar. He also rides a horse like a pro, can design and 3D print anything you need, cooks so much better than me and has single handedly renovated our house to a professional standard. He’s pretty nerdy but I love that!

Men in military Mess Dress. The cutaway jackets and tight fitting trousers are a win.

Crushed23 · 15/02/2026 18:23

I’ll get flamed for this, but I think DP looks really hot when he smokes (a cigarette) 😍

It’s a disgusting habit but he just looks so goddamn gorgeous doing it.

Seeing men really enjoying being with their kids.

There is a guy that I know who is always with his kids and always looked thrilled with them... Makes him attractive.

indeed!

Just this really. Anything other than YouTube, watching porn

canuckup · 15/02/2026 18:50

Sorry - in response to the 'just actually doing something' comment

blankcanvas3 · 15/02/2026 18:54

when I ask DH a question and he just knows the answer without googling. I can’t explain it but having my own personal search engine sitting next to me at all times is incredibly attractive. That and when he comes out of the shower with wet hair and a towel wrapped round his waist. Brb about to go and jump on my husband

He always has an umbrella at the ready
when a man makes sure he walks on the road side of the pavement

Being kind and caring towards animals
Treating serving staff respectfully
Opening the car door for you
Letting you go first through a door.
Manners
Being a great storyteller
Being generous with their time/money/love

Onions in a cheese and onion toastie. Always mouth scorching.

Tomatoes are worse, especially when it slaps you on the chin. 😫

DH taking charge in a quiet but assertive way. We were visiting a friend in hospital who hadn’t received his meds ages after he should have done. His wife had asked several times and been told ‘in a minute’ but no action. DH took himself off to the nurses station and politely asked and was told the same, then said ‘well I’m just going to wait here until it’s done.’ He stood there with an expectant look on his face and soon enough they started scurrying around and got it sorted. He thanked them, returned to our friend and gave me a wink. Mmmm

Also he shows the same qualities in his work life, which I sometimes overhear when he’s on Teams calls at home. He has a reputation for being able to turn around projects that are going off piste and getting them back on track without sacrificing his staff’s wellbeing. His teams love to work for him and think he’s a great boss.

I sometimes hear him on calls moving things forward in a confident way and quietly insisting on certain standards whilst checking that all his staff are managing ok and showing care for their welfare. It’s hugely attractive to me!

Turned up/rolled up shirt sleeves but short sleeved shirts not so much.

This.

LaidToChuckies · 15/02/2026 20:37

My husband in a specific subset of his work uniform. The everyday office version is blah, but the active, working version makes me feel hot under the collar.

I've never met a woman who doesn't find this extremely hot, and it baffles me that men haven't cottoned on to it more.

With a nice watch

FindingMeno · 15/02/2026 20:46

I'm desperately searching my brain for something but can't seem to think of anything.
I just don't think I like men a lot.

ChipsandCheesewithGravy · 15/02/2026 20:50

How my husband is with our daughter - she's an absolute daddy's girl and for good reason.
He's the kindest most sweet Daddy that also has an ability to keep her inline.
Full blown dad mode makes my ovaries ache!

gruit · 15/02/2026 12:54

is he more than a friend now? 🤣

Haha no he’s still just a friend. Other than that unexpectedly hot moment I just wouldn’t go there and not sure my DH would be too happy 🤣🤣

FullOfMomsense · 15/02/2026 22:30

Men wearing boots! I cannot stand (pun not intended) men in trainers or loafers, but boots? Effortlessly hot!

OSTMusTisNT · 15/02/2026 22:36

I had to work in a different office one day - 30 miles away from my usual workplace, by coincidence the carpark was just along the road from DH's work. He hunted round the carpark during his 20 minute break, found my car and left a bunch of red roses on the passenger seat.

Now that dear MN'rs, was flipping HOT.

This is like my DH
He delights in being with DC and just messing about, playing, having his hair braided and having a laugh.

Also, times when I’ve come home and super stressed and he’s cleaned the bathroom without mentioning it. 😍

StMichaelPenkevil · 16/02/2026 18:32

I know, right? 😂

Short sleeved shirts = Geography teacher with his jacket off

2026goals · 16/02/2026 19:00

kindness/ protectiveness/ competency - especially when it’s unseen/ done quietly. It seems to stand out to me more now I’m older and have experienced the opposite from men who should have looked after me. I swooned when an (admittedly hot) colleague spotted and reacted kindly and calmly to an upset child in our care - they just approached him gently, crouched down & said ‘hey buddy’ and I was a goner….

SwedishEdith · 16/02/2026 19:11

I think short sleeves have a 'uniform supplied by your employer' look about them.
